YOUNG -- Mary L. Young, a long time resident of Albuquerque, age 80, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 after a long illness. She was born on June 5, 1927, in Queens, NY. Mary was a Catholic Dominican Nun for 23 years, and she taught at the girl's academy in Havana, Cuba. After leaving Cuba, she served as Mother Superior of the Dominican Retreat House on Coors, SW in Albuquerque, NM. After her marriage, Mary was an elementary school teacher at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM for 20+ years. She is survived by her husband, Edwin E. Young, also of Albuquerque. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. ZIMMERMAN -- Thomas Eugene Zimmerman, 68, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 near Socorro, NM. Tom was born November 8, 1939 in Albuquerque, NM to CC and Agnes E. "Bill" (Hughes) Zimmerman. He was a life long resident of Socorro and was sheriff of Socorro County in the early 70's. He was a graduate of the FBI Academy and he retired as Director of Campus Police at New Mexico Tech after nearly 25 years. Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Socorro and was a member of the Rio Grand Mule and Donkey Club. He was also a member of the Socorro Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jack Zimmerman. He is survived by his wife, Sally Ann (Dean) Zimmerman of their home in Lemitar, NM; son, Ty Zimmerman and wife, Melissa of Socorro; daughter, Kim Milligan and husband, Kenny of Magdalena, NM; brothers: Bob Zimmerman and wife, Janet of Socorro; and Larry Zimmerman and wife, Bev of Albuquerque; sisters: Maxine Miller and husband, George of Vernal, UT; Janet Brown and husband, Benny of Aztec, NM; and LaVella Mercer of Escondida, NM; grandchildren: JT Milligan, Ryan Milligan, Bryce Milligan, Jonathan Chavez, Brianna Zimmerman and Dillon Zimmerman; brother-in-law, George Dean and wife, Gwen; sister-in-law, Connie Lindsay and husband, Preston; and other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Macey Center on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro with Rev. John Gregg officiating. Burial will be in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Robert Adams, Mario Rosales, Alex Thyssen, Bob Tacker, Dave Mathews and Preston Lindsay. Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan Chavez, JT Milligan, Ryan Milligan, Bryce Milligan, Dillon Zimmerman and Brianna Zimmerman. BACA -- Joseph Orlando, age 54, went home to be with Our Lord on Good Friday, March 21, 2008. He was born on December 28, 1953 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Orlando Baca. Joseph was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who courageously fought a debilitating illness for over 24 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Christy; his sons Daniel and David Richard; his mother Flora A. Baca; his sisters, Celine Radigan and husband, Mike; Cecila Martinez and husband, Jerry; his brother, Paul G.A. Baca of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his nieces and nephews, Leslie and Alex Hindi, Michael Radigan; Jeremy Martinez, Alyssa Martinez; great nieces, Gabriella and Ellianna Hindi; His mother in law, Evelyn Wersonick; Goddaughter, Heather Davis; and his best friends Arthur Schreiber, Mike Wersonick, and Felix Montoya. He was a graduate of Del Norte High School, and attended University of Albuquerque. During his career as a locksmith he was recognized as the youngest certified locksmith in the USA. and he also served as an instructor in the trade. He was affiliated with KOB radio and Magic 99 FM. Pallbearers will be; Michael Radigan, Jeremy Martinez, Alex Hindi, Mike Wersonick, Felix Montoya, and Randy Repichowski. May God bless you, Jo Jo. BROWN -- Sibyl Griffin Brown, a founding member of Reserve Baptist Church, passed away on March 26, 2008. Sibyl Louise was born March 12, 1922, in Biloxi, Mississippi to Oliver and Jettie Schneider. She married B. E. "Wee" Griffin on June 30, 1940. To this union, seven children were born. After the death of Mr. Griffin, Sibyl married James Brown in 1977. She was best known for her love of sewing, herbs, flowers, quilts, and her job as postmaster of Reserve post office, for which she served twenty-seven years. She is survived by one sister, Bayne Black; one brother, Shelton Schneider; and her children, Glyn Griffin, Reserve, NM, Gathel Young, Lincoln, NM, Gretta Speir, Vernal, UT, Garnelle Allred, Glenwood, NM, Grace Snidow, Ruidoso, NM, Grant Griffin, Hunt, TX, and Kaye Brown Hobbs, Flagstaff, AZ. Sibyl is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She is preceded in death by "Wee" Griffin; James Brown; and her son, Eugene Griffin. Services will be held at Reserve Baptist Church on Sunday March 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow immediately at Reserve cemetery. Donations can be made to Reserve Baptist Church. CARR -- Martin Albert Carr, 27, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on March 25, 2008. Martin is survived by his wife, Rebecca M.; his children, Marcos M. and Elijah Ray; his parents, Chris and Gloira Montano; his sister Valerie Rose Carr and finance, Chris Lopez; his nephews, Julian and Joseph Lopez; grandparents, Genevieve Cortez, Connie and Manuel Banuelos; his uncles, Joe Paul Carr, Clarence Montano and wife, Louri, Russel Montano and wife, Susan, and Joseph Bone; his aunts, Caroline Downing and husband, Larry, Troylene Ward and husband, Richard, and Daylee Montano; and several cousins and friends. Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Bob Burkhard. ELLIS -- Robert Renshaw Ellis, 40, died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday morning, March 27, 2008. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Robert attended Sandia High School and graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1991. Kind and gentle by nature, Robert endured the ravages of myotonic muscular dystrophy without complaint. He was the only son of Jim Ellis, and the late Mary Van Atta Ellis. His survivors include his sisters, Mary Clark and her husband, Jim of Nashville, and Jane Ellis; his father, Jim Ellis; and a very large cat named Merlin. Robert was very proud of his deep roots in Albuquerque which included the early-day Sisk and Van Atta families. If angels have a sense of humor, they will surely enjoy Robert's company.
