HERREN -- Carole Herren went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born November 28, 1943. She is survived by her mother, Caroline Herren; brother, Albert Herren and wife, Mary Beth and nephew, Will; brother, William (Bill) Herren and wife, Laurie and nephew, Albert F. Herren and wife, Deborah and children, Alyscia and Tiffany; niece, Carole Lynn Brown and husband, Kent and daughter, Summer. She was also survived by her uncle, William Herren and wife, Betty, from Ragland, Alabama; aunts, Freda Noto and Jane Arruda, both from Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Herren. Carole was a very caring and giving person who was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Make a Wish Foundation and many other worthy organizations. Carole served in the banking community for 35 years. She worked in the human resource department and had the opportunity to interact with various branches throughout New Mexico and the western United States. She made many wonderful friends in her long career. She will be deeply missed. HOWEY -- Warren Allen Howey, 51, born September 24, 1956, passed away December 31, 2007, after a life-long struggle with disease. He is survived by a son, Joseph Paul Ulibarri (31); two granddaughters, Nicole Santini Ulibarri (13), and Autumn Call Ulibarri (12); sisters, Sandy Kimmons, husband John, Terrie Gorrell, husband Bob, and Dana Suazo, husband Silas. KIMMONS -- William "Bill" Kimmons, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away on December 31, 2007. A determined and curious individual, Bill never allowed his disabilities to interfere with his zest for life. His interests included all things mechanical, children and animals. His family and friends were very important to him. Bill will be remembered for the smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye that could light up a room. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Kimmons, and siblings, Josephine and Richard Kimmons. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Boning and husband, Terry; niece, Cherie DeFillippo, husband, Butch and their son, Chris; and nephew, Brett Boning, wife, Cassie, and their children, Caitlin and Bryce; and many who cared for Bill over the last fourteen years. KING -- Bayard LeRoy King, died in Albuquerque, January 1, 2008. Born in New York City, May 15, 1922, he attended St. Paul's School in Concord, NH and Harvard College. During WWII, King was an ambulance driver for the American Field Service in North Africa. He later served in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in North Africa and France, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French Army. After the war, he was a Vice-Consul in the US State Department and became a Foreign Service officer assigned to Baghdad. He assumed similar posts in Australia, China, Mexico, Algeria, France, Latin America, Mali, and Congo/Kinshasa. He was Deputy Chief of Mission in Bamako and Kinshasa. He retired in 1975 after a final assignment with the State Department's Office of Intelligence in Washington D.C. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two children by his first marriage, Alexandra King-Nastase and George Gordon King, currently the director of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. Others who survive him include four grandchildren, Nicholas, Charlotte, Harry, and Marina. KRANZ -- Roger V. Kranz passed away peacefully January 1, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born February 10, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Cecilia Kranz; sister, Ursula Heinz; and brother, Al Kranz. He is survived by his wife, Twyla; daughter, Paula and her husband, Stan Hall their children, April and Nicholas; son, Roger Kranz Jr. and his special friends, Eleanor, Kai and Kana Radius. He is also survived by his siblings, Adeline Flinthrop, Fred Kranz and Dennis Kranz of Wisconsin and Diana Dudding of Rio Rancho, NM; as well as many other relatives and friends. Roger was a talented athlete excelling in many sports including track, basketball, baseball and football. He came to New Mexico on a football scholarship to UNM where he proudly played for the Lobos. He went on to play professional football for the New England Patriots. Roger also honored his country by serving in the Air National Guard. After college he began a successful career in sales. For the last twenty plus years he has been employed with Rio Grande Drywall Supply. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had many other loves which included gardening, singing in the church choir, dancing, golf and being with family and friends. Known as "Big Rog" to many, his huge heart and radiant smile will be greatly missed. Viewing will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at French Mortuary Westside Chapel. LATTANZA -- John O. Lattanza, 50, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Mr. Lattanza was born on March 5, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Lattanza on this date six years ago. John graduated from West Mesa High School in 1975 and attended the University of New Mexico. He is survived by his daughters, Audrey and Lauryn of Scottsdale, AZ, his father, Roger Lattanza; brother, Roger Lattanza; sister, Rebecca and "best brother-in-law", Jack Groves, of Albuquerque; brother, Jeffrey and sister-in-law, Laura Lattanza of Santa Fe, NM; nieces, Elizabeth, Christee, and Victoria Lattanza, Kelly, Shannon and Courtney Groves, and Vanessa Atler; and devoted companion, Anna Alderete, of Los Lunas, NM. John worked for years in the lumber and construction business in Albuquerque. He enjoyed racquetball, water skiing, the outdoors and fly fishing. A kind and dear person, he will be missed by all he touched in life. MARTINEZ -- Marie Domie Martinez went home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2008. She was a very creative woman who enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting and gardening. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband, Frederick Martinez of 47 years, her two children, Dianne Barreras and husband, Albert, Rodney B. Martinez and wife, Susan; four grandchildren, Markus, Michelle, Samuel, and Jacob. She is also survived by her brother, Anselmo Giron and wife, Cora; and her sister, Neph Carrillo. MCCARTHY -- Ruth L. McCarthy, 95, resident of Cuba, NM, and past longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Jacque Mangham and husband, Jim of Cuba, NM; grandchildren, Jerry Mangham and wife, Patty, and Kelly Van Havermaat and husband, Pete; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. McCarthy. Ruth was the last of her brothers and sisters in the Yearout family. She and her family have been residents of Albuquerque since 1925. She was an active member of the Adah Chapter and Daughters of the Nile and past Queen of the Nile.
