CANDELARIA -- Joseph J. Candelaria, born September 10, 1935 died November 23, 2008 at Princeton Place Nursing Home where he received exceptional care during his last years. James graduated from Albuquerque High in 1954, served in the US Navy until 1956 when he received an honorable discharge. He lived in San Bernardino, CA until his return to Albuquerque in 1989. His passion for music drove him to become a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios in both California and New Mexico. James' love to help others gave him the compassion and patience to volunteer over 10,000 hours in the years he dedicated to the VA Hospital. During this time he made countless friends through his overwhelming sense of humor. James was preceded in death by his father, Jose Ignacio; mother, Rosa; sisters, Sefora and Dominica; and brothers, Alberto, Trancito (Jerry), Juan (Johnny), and Ramon. James is survived by his son, Michael, 27; sister, Ella Montoya, 91; brother, Tom, 77, and wife, Rosie; brother, Joe A., 75; brother, Eloy (Blackie) 72, and wife, Terri; sister-in-law, Mary; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Joseph is survived by his mother, Josephine Chavez; stepfather, Lawrence Michelback; father, Charles Chavez; great-grandmother, Emilia Chavez; sisters, Erica Michelback, Alisha Michelback and fiance, Rodger Mathes; and Chantel Chavez; brother, Steven Chavez; grandmother, Priscilla Palacio; grandfather, Frank Martinez; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and lots of friends. CRIGLER -- Randolph Tucker Crigler, age 70, after a long illness died Sunday November 23, 2008 with his family at his bedside. Born in Newark, NJ to Henry Randolph and Virginia Britton Crigler. He grew up in East Orange, then Summit, NJ where he graduated with the class of 1956 from Summit High School. He attended Randolph Macon College in Virginia. He returned to Summit to serve in the Summit Police Dept for ten years, then moved to Grants, NM. Some may remember he founded the Der Krigler Deli on Roosevelt in Grants. He gave 23 years of loyal and distinguished service as a Correctional Officer for the State of New Mexico. Surviving Randy are his loving wife, Maria Crigler; and his beloved children, Susan Wright, Filomina Leathers of Albuquerque. Suzanne, Rob, Dan, Steve, Jennifer and Melanie on the East Coast. Also at his bedside were his loving sister Mary Crigler Heaton; and brother Doctor William Henry Crigler. Your "Million Dollar"smile that expressed the kind, giving heart of the man we knew and loved will be remembered forever. CROWDER -- George Crowder, 81, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Patricia; two daughters, Diane Bogle and her husband, Joe and their children, Tracy and Matt, and Nancy Crowder and her children, Billy Gregory and wife, Heather, Melissa Lopez and husband Ligo, Bradley Gregory and Mariah Garcia; great grandchildren, Anthony and Zane Gregory and Sol and Luna Lopez; brother, Patrick Crowder and wife, Ann; sister, Annsalee Covington and husband, W.A. and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. and Mylie Eula Crowder; and his sister, Frona McKnight. George was a devoted family man who very much loved the Lord. He, his wife and their dog, Curly spent most of their time on the road in their motor home enjoying the country. George was the founder of GC Video Inc. in Albuquerque. He was very proud to have served his country as a Merchant Marine, in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy. FLORES -- Douglas Dean Flores, 41, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, born April 23, 1967 went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Douglas had a compassionate heart for people which made him a stranger to no one. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juve and Rachel Flores, Nash and Monica Tafoya, Gertrude Ostlie; uncle Steve Tafoya; cousins, Bob and Pete Tafoya. Douglas is survived by his daughter, Falisha Flores and son Nathan Flores; his father Rene (Dorothy) Flores and mother Judy (Jim) Ostlie; his siblings Kendall (Anthony) Romero, Ricardo Flores, Amber (Marcos) Flores-Zurita and Rene (Amy) Flores, Jr.; nephews, Phillip Romero and Ayden Flores; nieces, Rachell Romero, and Raeallen Kay Flores in addition to numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Mr. Giron is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Cora Giron; children, Gene Giron and wife, Sofie, Maria Giron, Yvonne Harrel and husband, David, and Jerome Giron; sister, Neph Carrillo; nine grandchildren, Kim, Eric, Jesse, Adam, Jude, Dana, Scotty, Chris and Brian; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many other extended family members. HAMMER -- Edith Oliver Hammer, 82, a lifelong resident of New Mexico passed away Wedndesday, November 26, 2008 at her daughter's home in Soddy-Daisy, TN surrounded by her family. Edith was born January 30, 1926 in Mosquero, NM on the 2nd floor of the hotel to Clyde and Florence (McGuire) Oliver. Edith married Donald S. Hammer in Raton, NM on July 15, 1941 and had been married 65 years when Don passed away April 24, 2007. Edith liked and took a genuine interest in people and was a good friend to many. She was very proud to be a part of the McGuire family and cherished her cousins. Edith is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Dale Durnell of Cordell, Oklahoma and Sammy and Bill Kingston of Soddy-Daisy, TN; five grandchildren, Bryan Durnell, Matthew Kingston, Chestena Whittington, Gary Kingston and Andrew Kingston; six great-grandchildren; a special niece Tommie Jo Deaton and nephew Billy Hammer. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband and best friend, Don; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Tommy McCorkle. A Memorial Service will be held later in Albuquerque, New Mexico with interment in Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home. KAYLOR -- Wilma Kaylor, age 81, a resident of the Mid Valley Air Park in Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008. Mrs. Kaylor loved to travel with her husband by private aircraft. She loved sports and driving and was also an avid reader. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving her are her husband, Marv Kaylor of Los Lunas; children, Robert Kaylor and his wife, Ann of Wilmer, AL, P.J. Kaylor and her husband, Dennis of Laguna Beach, CA, Susan Kaylor of Redlands, CA and Allen Kaylor and his wife, Paula of Laguna, NM; sister, Jewel Hoffman of Pasadena, CA; five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. KRASSNITZER -- Albin Krassnitzer, age 79, a resident of Peralta, NM, went to eternal rest on Monday, November 24, 2008. He was born in Fieldkirchen, Austria and immigrated to the United States in 1959. Albin was the son of the late Lorenz and Katherine Krassnitzer, of Feldkirchen, Karten, Austria. Albin owned and operated Santa Dairy for 25 years. Milking cows and farming was a thing he really enjoyed doing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Krassnitzer, in 2005; brother, France; mother-in- law, Hermina Vriesekoop; and father-in-law, Dim Vriesekoop. Albin is survived by his son, Lorenz Krassnitzer, II of Peralta; daughter, Heidi Clark and husband, Brian of Queen Creek, AZ; three grandchildren Cody, Justin and Clayton of Queen Creek, AZ; two brothers, Max and Eric and their wives; three sisters, Edith, Erika and Ida and their husbands of Austria; brothers-in-law, Dick Vriesekoop, of Tollenson, AZ and Leo Vriesekoop and wife, Sue of Parks, AZ; and sister- in- law, Jackie Vriesekoop, of Sedona, AZ. Albin also had many nieces and friends. SCOGIN -- TWAUNA April 27, 1922 - November 22, 2008 Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Twauna leaves behind her loving brother Jerry; and daughters Carolyn Davis, Marilyn and Dennis Torres, Rhonda and Jim Hardy, Mickie and Lionel Campos and Martha and Lloyd Alcon. Also surviving are her nephew Don Thompson and family; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She lived in Aztec, NM most of her life moving to Quemado, NM in the 1980's. Her loving way of giving to others from her heart will always be remembered and her spirit will forever live within all who so dearly loved her. SIMS -- Paul R. Sims passed away early Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008 in his home. He suffered a long time illness. Paul was born in Sulphur Springs, TX, on January 1, 1924. Paul was one of three brothers, born to John Henry and Lela Patrick Sims. Paul was the last surviving brother. His first wife, Orene Sims, passed away in 1987. Paul was a WWII Veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He moved to Albuquerque, with his family, in 1956. In 1997 he retired from Henderson Construction, where he ran the sheet metal division. He is survived by his children, Judy Sims, Darrell Sims and Sandra Phillips; who gave him six grandchildren; and 11 great grand-children and his wife, of 20 years,Delia Trujillo Sims whom he married in 1988. His step-children, Stephanie Martin and her husband Gary, Chris Lopez and his wife Marteen, Claudia Chapman and Paul Lopez, along with six step-grandchildren. He was much loved and will be missed by many. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. SMITH -- Colette L. Smith, 71, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1988, passed away on November 22, 2008. She is survived by her son, Michael R. Smith and wife, Monica; mother, Cecile Bourque; granddaughter, Michelle Godfrey and husband, Jonathan; and grandson, Michael S. Smith, all of Rio Rancho. Colette was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles R. Smith in 2007. She was born in Magog, Quebec, Canada the daughter of Robert and Cecile Bourque. The family moved in 1947 to the United States and in 1959 she married the love of her life, Charles. Along with her husband, they were longtime local entrepreneurs. They were very involved in local charities and St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.
