Mary "Jeanne" Rousseau, age 81, passed away on June 30, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born April 12, 1927 in Gravette, AR. Jeanne was raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She received her college degree in Religious Education in 1952 at Phillip's University in Enid, OK and later received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the same college. She played an important part in the Christian ministry of her husband, James, before moving to the Navajo Reservation in 1962. She taught Home Economics for the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Chinle Boarding School, and later, various grades in both Chinle and many farms for Chinle School District until her retirement in 1990. Jeanne retired to Albuquerque and worked as a docent at the Museum of Natural History in the Naturalist Center until her death. She was an active member of her church. Her hobbies included travel, gardening, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, James Rousseau; daughters, Mary Jane Brown and Lisa Blanco; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by, her parents, Lloyd Arthur McAllister and Fern Schuler; stepfather, Nick Schuler; daughters, Martha Lynn and Rose Ann; sister, Jayne Holland. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at West Mesa Christian Church, 8821 Golf Course Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 with Pastor Mark Denton, officiating. Interment will take place in Anthony, KS on July 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the West Mesa Christian Church Permanent Fund, 8821 Golf Course Rd.
