ARREGUIN -- Florentino 56, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2008. He is survived by his wife Martha, his sons, Juan and wife, Alisha; Florentino and wife, Jessica; his daughters Jeannie; Marisol Zamora and husband, Patrick, and Martha. His brothers, Salvador and Javier Arreguin; and his, sisters Maria, Rosa, and Coco Arreguin; along with 13 grandchildren. BLUESTEIN -- Virginia Lee Morrow- Bluestein, 87, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard C. Bluestein; son, Richard M. Bluestein and wife, Linda of Albuquerque, and Mark M. Bluestein of Crestone, Colorado; daughter, Nancy M. Bluestein-Johnson and husband, Randy of Port Angeles, Washington; grandchildren, Marissa and Blake Bluestein, Gus and Chandra Johnson; and sister, Patsy Cushing and husband Charles of Hinsdale, Illinois. She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Malcolm and Jane Owensby. Ginny grew up on a ranch outside of Raton, N.M. and spent her first two years of college at UNM. She transferred to Iowa State University for her junior and senior years to finish her degree in the new field of dietetics. After an internship in Seattle, she returned to Albuquerque as the state's first certified dietician working at St. Joseph's hospital. In 1947 she married Dick. Ginny was an active member of the Junior League and the PEO Chapter here in Albuquerque. She helped Dick after the opening of Dick Bluestein Jewelers in 1971, where she enjoyed helping customers. Playing bridge and entertaining were her favorite activities. She had strong ties with her Morrow family relations in the Raton area. She attended St. John's Cathedral. Virginia will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 4, 2008, 2:00 p.m., at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver SW. BUNTEN -- James A. Bunten, age 85, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Grace Bunten, and brother, William Bunten. Jim was born on September 20, 1922 in Topeka, Kansas, and moved to Albuquerque in 1932. After graduating from Albuquerque High School, he served three years in the United States Army-Air Force. He then worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement 42 years later. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Augusta; son, James A. Bunten, Jr. and wife, Helen; son, Edward L. Bunten; daughter, Virginia L. Lopez and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Victoria L. Lopez, Robert L. Lopez, David L. Lopez, and Steven L. Lopez; great-grandchildren, Natalie R. Lopez and Aubrie E. Lopez; brothers, Daniel Bunten and wife, Mary Ann; Donald Bunten and wife, Billye; many nieces and nephews, and last, but not least, his beloved dog, "Lady". CADIEUX -- Elida Meral Brady Cadieux, 88, longtime Albuquerque resident died at home Monday, March 31, 2008. She had been in hospice care at home for more than a year. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Hodges (Charlie); granddaughter, Sarah Cadieux, of Albuquerque with great-granddaughters, Alexis and Sanai; daughter-in-law Elaine Moore; and granddaughter; Marie Justine Cadieux, of Los Lunas; granddaughter Stacy Hodges, of Denver, CO; and grandson, Brian Hodges (Hannah), of Lakewood, CO. She is also survived by her brothers, Elden Brady of Jamestown ND, Lowell Brady of Molalla OR; and sister, Vivian Sheets, of Carrington ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Cadieux, in January, 2006; and her son, Daniel C. Cadieux in June, 2007; her sister, Luella Hopewell, of Pingree ND; brothers, Gerald Brady and Larry Brady, of Woodburn OR. Elida was the oldest child of Charles Edgar Brady and Merle Idane Youngs, born September 25, 1919, in Vashti, ND, a hopeful village that is now part of a plowed field. She went to a one room schoolhouse, graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND, worked at the School for the Blind in Bathgate, ND as well as teaching four years in one room schoolhouses while fiance, Chuck, served in World War II. They were married July 9, 1945, in Jamestown ND. Elida followed Chuck as his civil service career moved through Bismarck ND, Sioux City IA, Mitchell SD, San Antonio TX, Albuquerque NM, and Bethesda MD, before retiring to Albuquerque NM in 1978. Retirement included leading many motor home caravans. Her greatest joy in life was welcoming friends and family into her home. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Claremont and Vermont St. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. FUENTES -- Lupe Fuentes Jr., age 40, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday March 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Fuentes and Albert Fuentes. Lupe is survived by his three daughters, Felicia Nadine Fuentes, Marisia Fuentes, and Salena Fuentes; one son, Julian Fuentes. He is also survived by his parents, Lupe Fuentes Sr. and Kathy Fuentes; his grandmother, Albina Trujillo; several aunts; uncles; and cousins. GILLIS -- Dolores Gillis, 80, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 31, 2008. Services will be held at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Dolores May Anthony was born on May 1, 1927, in East Liverpool, Ohio to Harley and Martha Anthony. She married George Gillis on December 20, 1947. She and her husband lived in Albuquerque after his retirement from the U.S. AirForce. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1985. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 2004. She is survived by two sons, Greg Gillis of Hayward, Ca. and Bruce Gillis of Pampa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

JARAMILLO -- Maryann Sachs-Jaramillo, native of Belen, New Mexico, was called to her heavenly home and to the open arms of her beloved parents, Martin F. Sachs and Mary C. Sachs on March 28, 2008. Maryann was born November 29, 1932 in Belen, NM. Maryann attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Belen, NM and graduated from Belen High School in 1951. Her friends remember her fondly as caring and outgoing. She was a cheerleader, homecoming queen, and class president during her years in high school. Soon after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Gillie B. Jaramillo in 1952. They left for Spokane, Washington where they lived for 4 years while Gillie was stationed at Fairchild Air force Base. They returned to Belen where Maryann would devote her life caring for her husband and five children. In 1985, Maryann, Gillie, and youngest son Martin moved to Los Lunas. Maryann worked tirelessly for her son and the deaf community. Maryann also partnered with her husband in the business they founded Citizen's Finance Co. Inc. She was an active member of Our Lady Belen Catholic Church in Belen, NM and San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Maryann is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gillie B. Jaramillo; children, Gilbert Jaramillo, Maryann Sorenson, Anntherese Mulryan, Annalee Kuidis and husband, Gary, Martin Jaramillo and wife, Cynthia; grandchildren, Gilbert Jaramillo Jr., Jennifer Jaramillo, Elizabeth Jaramillo, Derek Sorenson, Kyle Kuidis, Angelica and Faith Jaramillo; great-grandchildren Azaliya, Reyes, Aaron, and Aspen Jaramillo; sister, Angeline Sachs-Velasquez of Albuquerque; sister and brother-in-laws, Barbara Ortiz, Rose Aragon and husband, John, Henry Jamamillo Jr. and wife Elsie, Theresa Jaramillo and Jerry Jaramillo and wife, Nury, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. JONES -- David Reese. Memorial Services for David Reese Jones, 61, of Tampa, Fla., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Gainesville. David was born Oct. 16, 1946, in Panama City, Fla., the son of the late David Reese and Louise Andrews Jones of Albuquerque. On Dec. 19, 1974, in Columbia, MO., he married Sue Ann Luna of Gainesville, MO. They have two children: Sam, a Ph.D. candidate in chemical engineering at the University of Florida, and Reagan, a third-year medical student at the University of Miami. He is survived by his wife and their children; and one sister, Susan Jones, of Albuquerque. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War then graduated from New Mexico Tech in 1972. After earning a Ph.D. in chemistry in 1976 from the University of Missouri, David worked in industrial and research positions in New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, and Florida. With Owens-Corning, and later with the U. S. government-funded Strategic Highway Research Project, he developed and shared expertise in asphalt-chemistry research and was instrumental in developing an asphalt-chemistry performance specification that now is used on highways throughout the U.S. and internationally. Since 1993, he and his family have lived in Tampa. He was an avid sportsman, hunter, and fisherman. He especially enjoyed overnight float trips with his children and friends on the streams in Ozark County, Missouri, his wife's home, and fishing on the Gulf of Mexico with son Sam and their friends. He died Friday morning at the controls of his fishing boat, the Catch and Keep, as he and a friend headed out the Anclote River, bound for the Gulf. PINEDA -- John Joseph Pineda, 66, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at his home in Socorro, NM surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 27, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ. John dedicated over 30 years of service working for Dyncore (Landair) supporting government contracts for various government agencies. John enjoyed working with many of his co-workers who became very dear friends to him. John enjoyed spending time with family and keeping his wife Gina busy. Hunting and fishing and being outdoors was what he loved best. For those that knew John best, he's gone fishing and will meet us all at the shore someday. John is preceded in death by his parents, Polo and Jean (Elgin) Pineda; and his grandson, Jeffery Scott Pineda. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia (Gina) Herrera of their home in Socorro; sons: Jeff Pineda and wife, Melissa of Las Vegas, NV; and Jon Pineda and wife, Brigitta of Belen, NM; granddaughters: Jennifer Pineda of Wahington, D.C.; Natasha Pineda of Belen, NM; and Rebekah Piper of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Evelyn Esquivel of Socorro, NM; brother, Polo Pineda Jr. and wife, Sylvia of Socorro, NM; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very special cats, Kellie and Socks. ROOS -- Homer C. Roos, 83, passed away in his sleep at the home of son and daughter-in-law on Friday, March 28, 2008, after a two-year battle with skin cancer. Homer was born July 9, 1924, the son of Rev. Henry E. and Ella M. Roos, in Cape Girardeau, MO but grew up in Mason, TX. He graduated from Mason High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Navy in September at age 17. After two shore duty stations, he was assigned to the U.S.S. White Plains (CVE-66) in 1943. The ship took part in several invasions in the Pacific theater climaxing with the battle of Layte Gulf on Oct. 25, 1944. His task force earned the Presidential Citation for their part in this, the largest naval battle of modern times. He had met Lois Tilley while on leave in 1944, and they were married in Los Angeles on July 11, 1945. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1945, he and Lois moved back to Texas. He entered TCU in 1947 as a pre-med student. After the birth of his son, Joseph H. Roos, his full time studying became part time. He finally received his BA in Business Administration and economics in 1956 from Lamar State College of Technology after attending four colleges. He always said that his diploma had the wrong name on it because Lois was the one who should have graduated, only hers would have been with honors. After living in Fort Worth, Baytown, Houston, and Beaumont, TX, he started working with the FHA as a clerk typist in Washington, DC. The family then moved to St. Louis for Homer's training as a real estate appraiser, then back to Fort Worth for his first assignment. He and Lois moved to Albuquerque in 1973 and to Bernalillo in 1976, where he lived until his death. He retired from the Albuquerque FHA office as deputy chief appraiser in 1979. In 1982 he and Lois started Roos Appraisal Service, and he retired in 1991. Homer enjoyed his family and many friends. He was a lifelong fisherman, and for the last 30 years, enjoyed traveling in the RV. He had a lifetime involvement in service, first as a member of Civitan, and finally as a member of his beloved Rotary. He was a Paul Harris, fellow of Rotary. He was also a Boy Scout leader, provided state and federal tax service for senior citizens, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was an adult reading tutor. He was also active with The U.S.S. White Plains reunion organization. Homer was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolin Ann; and his beloved Lois, who died in 2000 after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Joe and wife, Sheryl, of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Lillian Townsend, of Derby, KS; his companion, Judy Johnston; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. He passed away from complications of Parkinson's disease which he fought courageously for over 20 years. Tribute: Born in Scranton, Arkansas to Dalton O. and Eva Gean Sams. Graduated from Paris, Ark in 1950 after marrying Frances Joan Sams in 1949. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1950 where James started work for the US Potash Mines. Soon after, he went to work for the US Postal Service and retired after 33 years of service. Sports were the highlight of James' life, playing high school football, basketball, and baseball. He also played semi-pro baseball in the 1954 and then men's fast pitch softball. Traveling around the small towns in NM, James officiated for high school football, basketball, and baseball. James started coaching women's softball in 1966. He was inducted into the NMASA Hall of Fame in 1992 as a coach. The city of Carlsbad named a teen-girls' softball field in his honor. Coach Sams assisted the Cavegirls high school softball team starting in 1978 continuing through his last few years in Carlsbad. Survivors: His wife, Frances J. Sams, Greeley, CO; two sons, James R. Sams and wife Grace, Tucson, AZ; Richard H. Sams and Georginni, Midland, TX; two daughters, Donna Sams, Albuquerque, NM; Carol Wohlfahrt and husband Guy, Greeley, CO; one brother, Dalton Sams, Jr, Fayetteville, AR; two sisters, Shirley Woolley and husband Charles, Fayetteville, AR; Darlene Howard, Roland, OK; four grandchildren, Andrew Sams and wife Kesley, Midland, TX; Christopher Sams , Midland, TX; Chandal Wohlfahrt, Greeley, CO; Britta Wohlfahrt, Evans, CO; and one great-grandchild, Logan Sams, Midland, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death: His parents; wife's parents; and his brother-in-law, Monty Howard. TAYLOR -- "Cliff" Alfred Stewart Clifford Taylor, resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1949, and formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the age of 89. Cliff was born February 14, 1919, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada to Alfred George Stewart Taylor and Blanche Gwendoline (LeDrew) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Eileen Bernardine (Rogers) Taylor; his sister, Violet Bernice Phelps; and son-in-law, Bob Appel; and step-son, Paul James Peiffer. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Maclovia "Mackie" (Gonzales) Taylor; daughters, Dianne Joyce Reiff and husband, Richard, Nancy Lynn Appel; sons, Alfred David Taylor and wife, Tomi, Michael William Taylor, and Steven Patrick Taylor and wife, Debbie; and step-daughter, Lisa Jensen and husband, Jason. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and three additional great-grandchildren are expected later this year. Also surviving, is his brother-in-law, James Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. Cliff spent his early years growing up in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit, MI. He graduated from the Henry Ford Trade School in 1937, and attended the Henry Ford Apprentice School for four years and then began his career as a tool-and-die maker. Life was put "on hold" when he entered the U.S. Navy (1943-1945) during WWII and served on the USS Victoria in the Asiatic Pacific. A few years later, in November 1949, Cliff and his family moved to Albuquerque when he accepted employment with Sandia Corporation (later known as Sandia National Labs). Cliff was always proud of the fact that he helped establish the Machinists Apprenticeship Program while at Sandia. He retired from Sandia in 1974. Cliff always had a passion for sports of all kinds and as a young man in Detroit played ice hockey, softball, football, track and field, and every year he looked forward to the "Indy 500". After moving to Albuquerque, he played amateur softball for several years pitching for teams sponsored by Schwartzman Packing, Simons, and others. He also pitched on Sandia Corporation's teams while employed there. From 1970 to 1975 he served as commissioner of the American Softball Association (ASA) for the state of NM. His love of sports was shared with and by his three sons over the years. During their years together, Cliff and Eileen enjoyed travel with family and friends and time spent at their cabin at El Vado Lake (which Cliff built). After Eileen's death, Cliff remarried; he and Mackie also enjoyed traveling, particularly the warm beaches of Mexico. He was full of life to the very end! Viewing and visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors. Pallbearers will be his sons Alfred David Taylor, Michael William Taylor, and Steven Patrick Taylor; grandsons, Todd Lee Cleveland, Scott Andrew Cleveland, and Nicholas Manning.
