JOHNSON -- Monez "Ned" Johnson, 82 passed away April 20, 2007 at Triumph Hospital in El Paso, Texas. She was born April 19, 1925 in Pickton, Texas to L.D. and Thelma Baker. They moved to the Portales-Floyd area where she graduated from Floyd High School. She married Melton "Sonny" Johnson of Portales in September, 1944. At the time of her death, she had been living with her daughter, Karla Morris and husband, Alfred in Las Cruces for the past six years. Previous to that time she had made her home in Portales, where she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also resided in Roswell and Albuquerque during the past thirty years. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Eyman and husband, Charles of Cleburne, Texas; son, Pat Johnson of Los Lunas and daughter, Karla Morris and husband, Alfred of Las Cruces; one brother, Billy Matt of Odessa, Texas. Other survivors include a niece, Diane Carpenter, of Clovis, New Mexico, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melton "Sonny" Johnson in 1971 and her sister, Captola Crady in 2002. Cremation will take place a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in Wheeler Funeral Home in Portales, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E. KUROWSKI -- Keith James Kurowski, 50, passed away on April 17, 2007 from complications of diabetes. He was born in Albuquerque on September 27, 1956 and is survived by his parents: Carol and Stanley Kurowski; brothers: Brian and wife, Scotia; Eric and wife, Jodi; sister: Kathi Billman; nieces: Ellyn, Cassidy and Rylee Kurowski; and his loving canine companion, "Lazy." Before his disability, he had many skills in carpentry, landscape designing, rock masonry and construction work. He worked for many years for PGI and most recently for Azar Distributing. Keith served as a volunteer with Special Olympics, the Homeless and Road Runner Food Bank. Cremation has taken place and a Life Celebration Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Cutler and Washington NE). LOPEZ -- Sophie C. Mrs. Sophie C. Lopez, 80, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 20, 2007, peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her loving children, Rosie Fernandez, Edward Lopez and wife, Patsy, Johnny Lopez and wife, Helen, Alice Flores, Ernest Lopez, Jerry Lopez and wife, Debbie and Debbie Payan. Mrs. Lopez is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Lopez and her parents, Albert and Antonia Candelaria. Mrs. Lopez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Clairmont NE from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Deacon Dan Lopez. Final visitation will be Monday morning at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. LOUISE -- Marjorie Wootton Louise began her life on January 1, 1934 in Birmingham, AL and passed April 18, 2007. Her greatest desire was to be a mother and she achieved it splendidly with the legacy she left through her eight children and 13 grandchildren. Her children include Michael Kainz, Charles Kainz, Janet Hill, Judy Wootton, Marie McClanahan, Richard Wootton, and Stephen Wootton. Family and friends take comfort knowing that Marjorie is now reunited with her parents, E L and Louise Edwards and her son, Dana Kainz. As a child, Marjorie, her parents and brothers, Don and Jim Edwards, relocated to New Mexico. In her 61 years as a resident, Marjorie developed a deep appreciation for New Mexico's nature, art and culture. A Memorial Service will be held at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North, 5151 San Francisco Rd. LUCERO -- Genevieve "Gen" Lucero passed away on April 15, 2007. Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Cobley. She is survived by her husband, Rudy Lucero; children, Rudolph Lucero and wife, Kathryn, Myra Simons and husband, Andy, Michelle Werden and husband, Clint; and Dennis Lucero; seven grandchildren, Kevin Simons and wife, Megan, Melissa "Mia" Simons, Elizabeth and Michael Lucero, Mitchell, Reese, and Senti Werden; and siblings, Diane Rodruck, Christina Rios, Angie Behmer, Geraldine Cobley, Ernie Cobley, and Fred Cobley. She loved reading, golf, bridge, and traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank their family, friends, and the wonderful staff at Presbyterian CCC Unit for their love and support. A Rosary and Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2007 at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. LUNA -- Lorenzo. Mr. Lorenzo Luna, 82, passed away on April 20, 2007. Mr. Luna is survived by his loving wife, of sixty two years, Odila; seven children, J. S. Luna, Christina Lopez, Daniel Luna, Susan Luna Guinn, Linda Luna, Charles Luna and Angela Luna; sisters, Augustina Ortiz and husband Domingo, Ramona Sandoval, Terri Gallegos and husband Nash; brothers, Jose Luna and Florencio Luna and wife Cleo; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Luna was a member of the Catholic Church and a life member of the local Iron Workers Union #495. Visitation for Mr. Luna will be Monday, April 23, 2007, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Los Hermanos de Nuesto Jesus Nazareno in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. A second visitation will be held at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerta de Luna with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Los Hermanos de Nuesto Jesus Nazenrano. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the church time to be announced. Interment will follow at El Campo Santo.
