RUCKER -- D. Maxine Rucker, 81, passed away on April 10, 2007 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin R. Rucker and her two sons, John and Stephen Rucker. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia and two grandsons, Joshua and Robert Janpol. Maxine was an avid bowler and was the Women's league secretary for a few years. Maxine also worked at Snowheights Bingo for many years and had many friends there. A Memorial Service will be held on April 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Aspen Funeral Alternatives 1935 Juan Tabo NE.

SANCHEZ -- Jim A. Sanchez, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died Monday, April 16, 2007. He is survived by his son, Steven Sanchez, wife, Robyn; grandson, Devon of Albuquerque; brother, Tony Sanchez of California; sisters, Ida Romero of Albuquerque and Eleanor Sanchez of Santa Fe; brother, Gil Sanchez of Santa Fe; and many nieces, nephews, and friends in New Mexico and other parts of the country. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Sanchez; parents, Arthur and Juanita Sanchez; and brother, Peter Sanchez. He had an extensive career in the Banking/Finance business after his military service in Vietnam. Mr. Sanchez was a devoted husband and father, and a loyal friend. He was generous, worked tirelessly for his family, and exemplified strength of character to anyone who came in contact with him. Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 22, 2007, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. TANNER -- Donald Carl Tanner Sr.,75, of Gallup, NM, died peacefully at his home Thursday, April 19, 2007. He was born January 22, 1932 in Fruitland, NM. Don spent much of his youth on the Navajo Reservation as his father ran several trading posts there. Don graduated from high school in Durango, CO where he excelled at football and basketball. He spent most of his adult years in Gallup. Over the years he operated many Indian Trading businesses in Gallup, Santa Fe, Farmington, and Scottsdale. Don was a true friend to the Native American people. He truly loved his family and never allowed outside influences to keep him from spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and devoted his life to serving the Lord which included serving as the first Stake President of the Gallup, NM Stake. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Compton Tanner; his sons, Don Jr. (Pam), Mitch (Roseanne), Tyde (Linda), Sterling (Brenda); his daughter, Rachel (Matthew Boyle); his daughter-in-law, Liliane; and 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Campbell; and brothers J.B., Joe, and Ellis. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Ruel Lehi and Stella McGee Tanner; his brothers, Robert, Jerry, and Rick; and his son, Sheldon. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 23, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 601 Susan Avenue in Gallup. A viewing will be held preceding the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Rollie Mortuary.

WESTMORELAND -- William Westmoreland was born in Denver, CO on June 16, 1923, son of Jewell and Eva Westmoreland, and died April 9, 2007 in Arizona. In 1942 he joined the Naval Aviation Program and flew F6Fs and Corsairs in combat during WWII and F9F Panther Jets in the Korean War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medals with nine stars, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Asiatic Pacific, American Defense, Philippine Liberation, U.N., and Korean Theatre Medals. Cdr. Westmoreland retired from the U.S. Navy in 1963 and moved his family to Albuquerque, NM where he was employed by the State of New Mexico's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, retiring in 1983 as Chief of Field Services. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 60 years; his sister, Mary Louise Dahlberg in California; one son, Bill Westmoreland and his wife, Emily Freede of Albuquerque; two daughters, Cydney Westmoreland in Oklahoma and Lori Westmoreland Schoenfeld and her husband, Doug Goodman in Massachusetts; and one grandson, William Jesse Westmoreland in West Virginia. Cdr. Westmoreland built and flew a small EAA airplane, and became an artist of note in steel-welded sculptures. His talents were many and those who know him will miss his humorous wit. BACA -- Rick Baca, age 51, was called by the Lord on Friday, April 20, 2007, a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Rick is survived by his wife Reina Baca; their two children, Richard Baca and wife Monica, Jessica Baca. Grandchildren Adryan, Lexus, and Lucas Baca. Also Surviving are two sisters JoAnn Romero and husband Dan, and Edye Baca Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded into death by his parents, Joe and Mary Baca. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services Garcia Mortuary; a Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also in the Chapel; Interment will be announced at a later date. Pallbearers will be Dan Baca, Leo Baca, Andrew Camillo, Tony Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, and Louie Montoya. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Lyle, Tom Allen, David Rodriguez, and Manuel Rodriguez. CASTILLO -- Victor J. Castillo, 78, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday April 17, 2007 from accidental injuries. He was born January 21, 1929 in Albuquerque to Victorio and Maria Castillo. Rosary will be recited Monday, April 23, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 24, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Castillo, Javier Castillo, Sean Castillo, Jacob Castillo, Ken Corazza, Leonard Montano, Carlos Marquez, and Louis Herrera.
