ALLEN -- Verna McQuey Allen, age 97, passed away on December 13, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on September 4, 1910 to George and Anna McQuey in Belvedere, KS. Verna was a great, loving mother and friend, who cherished her family. She enjoyed music, fine art, drama, reading, and dancing. Verna loved to travel and entertain friends and family. Verna was high school teacher and when she had the opportunity was able to substitute for other teachers. She instilled life long learning and pursuing educational goals. Verna also taught Sunday school while living in Wichita, KS. She loved life and loved to be around people and most importantly loved her Lord. She was part of Tri Sigma, and PEO; while at PEO held the Treasury position and was part of the By-Law Committee. Verna is survived by her daughter, Judy Allen of Albuquerque, NM; one granddaughter, Meagan Allen; and a special niece; Jamie McElwain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Allen; and one son, Dean Allen. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at St John United Methodist Church 2626 Arizona NE, with Pastor David Edwards officiating. ANAYA -- Santiago Anaya, 94, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007. He is survived by his sister, Paulita Saavedra; two daughters, Magdalena Anaya-Rehberg and husband, Daniel and Sofia Anaya; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Espiridiona Anaya. Santiago was a member of the Alianza Federal De Mercedes, U.F.W., and Foster Grandparents. Rosary will be recited Monday, December 17, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th St. NW. CRICK -- Jerry "JD" Crick, 72, a resident of Albuquerque, died on December 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Ann Crick. JD, a loving husband, father, and friend will always be remembered for his strong family values and genuine kindness to everyone he met. JD enjoyed golf, poker, and spending time with his family and friends. DIXON -- Morris "Coach" Morris Dixon, 57, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with our Lord on December 13, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Montecello, AR on September 1, 1950. He is survived by his wife, Rose; mother, Maxine; children, Janee (husband Jarrett), Ashley and Curtis; grandson, Kaden; brother, Ted; sister, Cindy; nephews, Shane, JD, MJ, Mark and John; in-laws, Cesario and Isabel De Lora, Elizabeth De Lora, Matt and Belle De Lora, Augustine and Belinda Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Morris Dixon, Sr. He touched the lives of countless players on and off the field during his 20+ years of coaching and will be dearly missed. ELEAMOS -- Nick Eleamos died unexpectedly on December 13, 2007 due to an accidental fall and fatal injury to his head. His sister, Koola Dileanis; his son, Gus; his daughter Elaine; and his granddaughter Keira survive him; as well as nieces; nephews; and sisters-in-law. Nick was a resident of Albuquerque since 1947 after moving from his home in Pennsylvania. He was a member in good standing with St. George Greek Orthodox Church, which he attended most of his life. Nick was a hard working entrepreneur, owning several businesses in the Albuquerque area since the 1940's, including the old Shamrock Bar and The Carriage House. He served his country during WWII in the Navy, where his was one of 50 survivors on a ship of 300 men that was destroyed by a mine. Nick was a kind, considerate, generous man who loved his family until the day he died. He will be missed by all who knew him. We love you dad. KENNEDY -- Bruce Allan Kennedy, April 7, 1943 - November 6, 2007 peacefully passed away after a battle with cancer. He faced death with dignity and courage. Bruce was a native of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his most devoted and beloved wife of 26 years, Christina (Chris) Cousins Kennedy; a special cousin, Rocky (Vicki) Eden, Queen Creek, AZ; brother-in-law, Col. (retired) William R. (Karen) Cousins, III, Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Eileen (Robert) Garner, Bristol, VA; three nieces; and a very special nephew, 1st Lt. William R. Cousins, IV, Cincinnati, OH. His faithful dogs, a.k.a. "the herd" Max, Jasmine, Rudy, Sasha, and Norton. Bruce served in the Army. He was an avid and lifelong outdoorsman. He loved to cook and attended a Kansas City Slow Pit BBQ school and was a certified Kansas City BBQ judge. Bruce also enjoyed and flew racing pigeons. A celebration of his life was held at Adair Funeral Homes in Tucson on November 12, 2007. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Cancer Society.

LOVATO -- Leonard Lovato Jr., 52, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. He is survived by his loving family - parents Leonardo and Sally Lovato; daughter Angelica Lovato and husband, Eli Kimble; son Frank and girlfriend Jessica; son Steven and wife Monica; seven grandchildren; sister Nancy Barreras and husband Tommy; brother Ruben and wife Emma; sister Janet Morgenson and husband Ronald; brother Donald and wife Janet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the US Army. Arrangements are pending.

MOYA -- Martin H. Moya, 64, a resident of Belen, NM, Barstow, CA and Albuquerque, NM died Thursday, December 13, 2007. He is survived by his sons, Vincent Moya and wife, Sarah, Robert Moya and fiance, Emily Cousens; and his former wife, Beatrice Roybal, all of Albuquerque. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Delfin Sr. and Lily Moya; brothers, Delfin Jr. and Robert; and uncle, Joseph Chavez. Martin was employed with the State of New Mexico Highway Department for 16 years and most recently with Resolve Corp., where he made many close friends and acquaintances. PURTELL -- EUGENE P. Dr. Eugene P. (Gene) Purtell, DDS went home to his Lord on December 14, 2007. He was born May 16, 1923 in Monches, WI, the youngest of the nine children of Francis and Ellen (Flynn) Purtell, and the seventh son of a seventh son. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 in the Carlisle Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. also in the chapel. ROMERO-VIGIL -- Michelle, 39, died December 13, 2007. She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Rudy Vigil; son Rudy Jr.; parents Ruben and Bessie Romero; four brothers and one sister; 15 nieces and nephews; and many caring friends. STEPHENS -- Imrie Boyd Stephens Sr., age 86, of Placitas, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007, at a local hospital. Mr. Stephens was born on May 9, 1921 in Toler, TX to Imrie and Mildred Louise Stephens. He married Bettye J. Parsons on November 27, 1974. Mr. Stephens was a general contractor and had owned and operated Boyd Stephens Construction for 20 years and was instrumental in the construction of Hobart Baptist church in Pampa, TX and several of the residential and commercial properties in the Albuquerque area. He was a veteran pilot of the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and was recalled into the Korean Conflict. Following the service he continued to enjoy flying in the private sector, and volunteered many hours along with wife at many community charities and church functions. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Bettye J. Stephens of Placitas; his daughter, Mildred Terrell and her husband, Hershel of Lubbock, TX; his son, Imrie Boyd Stephens Jr. and his wife, Shirlene, of Broken Arrow, OK; step-sons: Howard Parsons and his wife, Patti Ann of Matthews, NC, Edward Parsons of Cuba, NM, David Parsons, El Paso, TX; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece, Sandra Buttrill and nephew, Brantley Stephens. Boyd was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Stephens. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2007, at Memory Gardens of Pampa, TX. STRAWN -- Dorothy Pauline Bates Strawn died at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice one year ago following a brief illness. She was born in Davenport, NE, the oldest of the 14 children of Edgar D. and Erma Ringer Bates. Most of her childhood was spent in the Los Angeles, CA area where she completed her education, and in 1936 married her lifelong love, Enos James Strawn, Jr. They were the parents of two daughters. In 1944, the family moved to New Mexico, living in Farmington until 1948 when they moved to Albuquerque. In 1959, they returned to Farmington and later lived in Denver, CO before retiring to San Diego, CA where Dorothy and Enos lived for 30 years. Dorothy was employed in retail sales while living in New Mexico, and in real estate and property management in California. She and her husband were passionate golfers, playing golf almost daily during their latter years in San Diego. Dorothy returned to Albuquerque to live near her family in 2000 following Enos' death. There she enjoyed the social life and good friends she made at The Montebello on Academy where she served as Queen of the Red Hat Society until her death. She was known for being always impeccably coiffed and attired in her signature "Santa Fe" style, her ready laugh and enjoyment of life. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers; daughters, Janice del Castillo (David) of Albuquerque, and Kay Lewis (Willard) of Santa Fe; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her ashes were buried next to those of her husband in Fairview Cemetery in Santa Fe following a private family service. TEUPELL -- Lorenzo Michael Teupell December 17, 1985 - December 6, 2005 Happy Birthday On this day twenty-two years ago we woke up and you were here. That evening while we slept we went back seventeen years and you had started school. And to wake up the next morning only to find out you were going to the prom with a beautiful young lady. Only to wake up the next morning to find out your life had been taken a day we never wanted to wake up from, and this brought us to the time where we never had tomorrow to say I Love You and to Be Careful. WOODWARD -- Judy Dorothy Woodward, 79, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 at home with her family. She was born December 9, 1927 in Salem, NJ, the daughter of Joseph Donald Woodward and Harriette (Breisch) Woodward. A prominent Democratic activist and supporter for over 30 years, Judy retired in 2001 after two terms as Clerk of Bernalillo County. She was married to the late Walter T. Kyner, PhD. until his death in 1999. She was an avid gardener with a generous spirit who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sisters, Jo Zagieboylo of Norfolk, MA, and Marian Shapiro of Baltimore, MD; her children, Sue, Dianne, Donald, Eric, and Michael Glover; and four grandchildren.
