STEPHENS -- Imrie Boyd Stephens Sr., age 86, of Placitas, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007, at a local hospital. Mr. Stephens was born on May 9, 1921 in Toler, TX to Imrie and Mildred Louise Stephens. He married Bettye J. Parsons on November 27, 1974. Mr. Stephens was a general contractor and had owned and operated Boyd Stephens Construction for 20 years and was instrumental in the construction of Hobart Baptist church in Pampa, TX and several of the residential and commercial properties in the Albuquerque area. He was a veteran pilot of the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and was recalled into the Korean Conflict. Following the service he continued to enjoy flying in the private sector, and volunteered many hours along with wife at many community charities and church functions. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Bettye J. Stephens of Placitas; his daughter, Mildred Terrell and her husband, Hershel of Lubbock, TX; his son, Imrie Boyd Stephens Jr. and his wife, Shirlene, of Broken Arrow, OK; step-sons: Howard Parsons and his wife, Patti Ann of Matthews, NC, Edward Parsons of Cuba, NM, David Parsons, El Paso, TX; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece, Sandra Buttrill and nephew, Brantley Stephens. Boyd was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Stephens. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2007, at Memory Gardens of Pampa, TX. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday December 18, 2007, at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Bernalillo United Methodist Church, 136 Calle Don Andres, Bernalillo, NM.
