BALDWIN-WILLIAMS -- Mary Lynn Baldwin-Williams, 55, a native of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully in her home on June 29, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, James "Jim" Hann. Lynn was a longtime and devoted employee of University Hospital and her sudden absence was immediately felt by all of her co-workers. She is survived by her husband, Jim Williams; mother, Martha "Marty" Hann; her daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Sarah Jane Baldwin; son, Keith Aaron Baldwin; sister, Marsha Davalos; and her grandchildren, Leon Abrams, Ivan and Andres Ortiz, and Brooke Baldwin. Her family and friends celebrate the joy in knowing she is at peace and in a better place. We will fondly remember Lynn's life, her extreme generosity and the gift of everlasting memories. A sunset Memorial Service will be held at Elena Gallegos Park on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 8 p.m.

BARNHART -- Charles E. Barnhart, the former chairman of the Albuquerque City Commission and a well-known Albuquerque attorney and engineer, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Anna Kasemann Hospital, following a short illness. Barnhart, 85, was a native New Mexican. He was born January 9, 1922, in Santa Rosa, NM to Mae E. and Charles L. Barnhart who homesteaded a ranch nearby before New Mexico became a state. He was a member of the city commission from 1967 to 1971. For two years, he was chairman of the commission, which was the equivalent of mayor. At Santa Rosa High School, he played all four years of football for the Lions, not that he was so fond of football but because there weren't enough boys to make a team without him. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and received his jurist doctor degree in law from UNM in 1959. Barnhart married his college sweetheart, Kathleen Claire Williams of Carlsbad, on January 1, 1944 in Albuquerque. In August 1944, he was commissioned in the U.S. Navy as an ensign. He served aboard the USS Waupaca in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres until May 1946, coming out of the war as a lieutenant (junior grade). On his return to civilian life, he embarked on an engineering career, working on projects in Los Alamos and Albuquerque. Barnhart was a member of New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers from 1949 to 1965, serving as president of that organization in 1950-51. Barnhart worked as a sole practitioner attorney in Albuquerque from 1959 to 1968. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was a partner in the law firm of Hannett, Hannett, Cornish & Barnhart. He was also a partner in the Barnhart & Oliver firm and owner of Barnhart & Associates law firm. He retired from active practice in 1986 but remained a member of the New Mexico Bar Association until 1994. He developed Van Cleave Place in the 1980s, a Southeast Heights manufactured home community. Over the years, he also served on the Mayor's Citizens Advisory Committee on the use of the San Juan-Chama Diversion Project water, the Rio Grande Water Assembly, the City Parks and Recreation Commission, the boards of All Faiths Receiving Home, Gov. Jerry Apodaca's reorganization task force for the State Highway Department, Heights General Hospital, the Elephant Butte-Caballo Leaseholders Association, the Albuquerque Airport Advisory Board, and the New Mexico Manufactured Homes Association. "Charlie Barnhart was a dynamic, intelligent and hard-working man, whether it was as a city commissioner, an engineer, a lawyer, or family man," said a nephew, Richard Williams. "He was the perfect example of America's Greatest Generation, serving in the Navy in World War II, working a long career as an engineer and then becoming a lawyer at mid-life, when some people are already looking at retirement." "On top of that, he served in elective public office on the City Commission with people like Harry Kinney and Pete Domenici, was a member of the board of Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute, and still had time for all sorts of other volunteer work in the community," Williams said. "In our family, Charlie was our greatest source of pride." Barnhart was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He is survived by, Kathy, his wife of 63 years; his son, Charles R. Barnhart and wife, Molly Shaw; daughter, Amy Richardson Hatch; son, John David Barnhart, all of Albuquerque; and son, Joe Alan Barnhart of Santa Clara, CA; brother, Roger A. Barnhart and wife, Gloria and their daughter, Gerri Barnhart, of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ryan Charles Hatch of Phoenix, AZ, Kathleen Richardson and Kimberly Barnhart, both of Albuquerque; cousin, Norman Barnhart and wife, Millie; nephew, Richard Williams and wife, Madeline Dunn, of Albuquerque; and a niece, Sharon Barnhart Dodge and husband, Dr. Anthony Dodge, of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Leroy and Mae Barnhart and brothers, Joe and Wayne Barnhart. CLINE -- Lawrence Sidney Cline, age 79, a resident of Albuquerque for the past twelve years, passed away on July 2, 2007. He was born and raised in Beaver Falls, PA. GARCIA -- Celia S. Garcia, 82 a lifelong Puerto De Luna, NM resident died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Vermont Manor in Albuquerque following an illness. Celia was born November 21, 1924 in Puerto De Luna, NM to the home of Flugencio N. Saiz and the former Isabelita Lopez. She was reared and attended school in Puerto De Luna. Celia married Joe Garcia in Puerto De Luna on May 12, 1945. They ranched and farmed at Puerto De Luna for many years. She was a devout member of Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna where she and Joe served as mayordomos for many years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters since 1986. Celia was preceded in death by her husband Joe Garcia in 1980; her parents; two brothers Luis Saiz and Joe Saiz; and a sister Casianita Fajardo, Survivors include a sister Nea Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7PM Thursday, July 5, 2007 from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, NM. HUDSON -- Dee On June 28, 2007, our precious beloved Dee Hudson peacefully entered the gates of heaven after a short battle with cancer in Fairfax, Virginia. As she departed she was surrounded by her loved ones, her mother, Phyllis Berntoncello, her partner, John Zarou; her four children, Leigh Cassedy, John Grannie, Tarri Hudson, Shari Hudson; and two of her four grandchildren, Maddi Cassedy and Jeffrey Cassedy. Her daughter-in-law, Dana Grannie; and her two other grandchildren, Nicole Grannie and Christina Grannie join with family and friends to celebrate the joy in knowing she is at peace in God's Kingdom. She loved the mountains, south western flare, jewelry, green chiles, anything spicy and dragon flies. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting numerous dinner parties and many memorable events. She loved to dance, was always singing and she knew the words to every song. She enjoyed more than 20 years as a successful business owner in the Washington, DC area. She loved traveling and spent years in search of the ultimate place to retire and found it here in New Mexico. She has been a resident of Placitas, New Mexico for over 20 years. She loved her home that faced the Sandia Mountains. She called it "Her Mountain" and anytime she was away she made it perfectly clear that she could not wait to bet back to "Her Mountain". She was kind, generous and compassionate of others and always gave willingly to her family and friends. She opened her heart to all and readily made life long friendships. She had wisdom for every occasion. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful laugh and a fabulous smile. She loved birthdays and holidays and went all out on both. Everything through her life testified her love of her family and friends. It is a profound truth the uniqueness of each person can never be replaced. She was truly one of a kind and the memory of her love will remain in the hearts of those who love her. She loved life and lived to the fullest. She had many talents and interests, which included travels all over the world, cruises and her favorite vacation spot, Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. In the last month of her life, she visited with three of her children in Florida, while there she arranged and family celebration which included her four children and her mother. She also attended a dear friends wedding in North Carolina and then a visit with her daughter in Virginia. The family enjoyed a celebration of her life with friends in Virginia on Sunday, July 1, 2007. Dee will be laid to rest in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Gate of Heaven, facing "Her Mountain". She is a treasure and inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed. We love you MOM. MADDALENI -- Mauro "Jeff" Maddaleni, age 93, of Raton, NM, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Raton. He was born December 26, 1913 in Spoleto, Italy, the son of Guiseppe and Theresa Santi, Maddaleni. Jeff was a Veteran of WW11 serving in the United States Army, a member of St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Raton Elks Lodge, and the United Miners Union. He is survived by his wife, Rose of the family home; son, Jeffery and wife, Marianne of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Mark and Andrea Maddaleni of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Neva Thomas of Raton, NM, and Elda Rigdon of Belen, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. MCAFEE -- Stella McAfee, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at her home Friday, June 29, 2007, amongst her family. She was born on November 4, 1932 in Albuquerque to Nicholas and Antonia Gallegos. She married George McAfee on July 25, 1952 in Albuquerque. Stella was a current member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a former member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, where she was active with the School Board, Parish Council, former PTA President, and was very active with St. Pius X High School. She also taught Bi-Lingual education at VanBuren Middle School for over seven years, as well as assisted her husband, George as his bookkeeper in his automotive radiator service, McAfee Radiator Service, for over 30 years. Stella enjoyed spending time at Highland Senior Center and working at election polls. She was a proud graduate from TOPS and was very active in her grandchildren's lives. Stella is survived by her husband of 55 years, George; daughter, Deborah E. King; son, George Nicholas McAfee, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael George King and Ryan Matthew King; sister, Jennie G. Downey and husband, Joe of Alamogordo, NM; brother, Isidor Gallegos of Albuquerque; uncle, Eddie Mayer of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. MCKEEVER -- Dixie L. McKeever died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque. She was 89 years old. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn McKeever, a local attorney. Mrs. McKeever grew up in Dubuque, IA, where she married and raised her own family. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert, in 1984 and her husband, Lewis in 2001. She relocated here to be near her daughter. She received her BA degree in music from Clarke College in Dubuque, IA in 1939 and enjoyed playing the piano throughout her life. Burial will be through Egelhof, Seigert & Casper Funeral Home in Dubuque, IA on Friday, July 6, 2007.

MIXON -- Earl Mixon (1928-2007) was born in Tucson, AZ and grew up in Fort Stockton, TX. His family moved to Roswell when he was in high school. He served in the U.S. Army Rangers in Korea, and after his discharge he met and wooed Elizabeth Underwood. They were married in December of 1953. In 1960, they moved to Albuquerque, where Earl worked as a sales representative for Kraft Foods for over 30 years. He loved the out-of-doors, and took the family on frequent hiking trips in the forests of New Mexico. He and Elizabeth also enjoyed ballooning, and participated in several Balloon Fiesta events. After retirement, Earl and Elizabeth bought property near Durango, and spent nearly two decades in a beautiful home near Lake Vallecito. The grandkids cherish memories of "paradise;" every year, Gramma and Granddad had them up for week-long "summer camps" in the Colorado mountains. But their Albuquerque ties remained strong. In July of 2003 they returned, and have lived here since. Earl was an avid reader, amateur photographer, and tennis player. At age 67, he discovered computers and made the jump from film to digital photography. He was always generous with his time and resources to family, friends, and church. For a time he volunteered for Meals on Wheels. A beloved husband, brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was also a caring friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed good health for most of his life, and played tennis just three days before his death in the early hours of Saturday, June 30, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mixon; his sister, Iris Major; his children, Kay Mixon, Laura Mixon-Gould, and Jim Mixon; his grandchildren, Stephanie Maez, Benjamin Mixon-Baca, and Emma and Carita Gould; and his great-grandson, Donovan Maez. PADILLA -- MARGARET GIRON Margaret Giron Padilla (The Most Beautiful) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2007. She passed away while vacationing at her family's favorite resort in Santa Barbara, CA with her husband, sons, daughter, grandson, and daughter-in-law by her side. Maggie was born on August 5, 1941 in Polvadera, NM and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by father, Pilar Giron and brother, Steve Eddie Giron. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Louis D, Padilla; her son, Gary Eric Padilla and wife, Lillian; beloved daughter and best friend, Elaine Padilla; son, Edmund Padilla; grandson, Jason Padilla and Erica; along with great-granddaughter, Adelynn Padilla. She is survived by her mother, Andrea B. Giron; and her brothers and sisters: Bernie Giron and wife, Doris, Victor Giron, Christine Baca, Angel Hall, Tina Patton and husband, Dan, Rosie Giron Maron and husband, Barry, Randy Giron and wife, Kathy, Rick Giron and wife, Gloria, Yolanda Giron, Pilar D. Maggie retired from USDA Forest Service in August 2004 after 31 years of service, Maggie lived life to the fullest and enjoyed a good party. She was a loving and generous person who was willing and able to help anyone in need. She loved to cook, dance and spend time with family, friends and especially enjoyed being with her mother on Sunday for brunch along with all who wished to join in. Services will be held at Queen of heaven Catholic Church at 5310 Claremont NE. Services will begin at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5th, with a Rosary Service to be followed by the Funeral Mass immediately thereafter.

RICE -- W.E. Rice, 85, a loving family man and longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on June 30, 2007 at his home. Mr. Rice was born on July 12, 1921 to W.E. and Jocelyne (McKay) Rice of Red Rock, OK. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1939 and attended Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater, OK of the same year. Mr. Rice then enrolled at UNM in 1943. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in 1947. During that time, he married the love of his life, Blanche Hall, on July 9, 1945. He was a charter member and first president of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at UNM. He was a member of the Fleetmen's Club, which was founded at UNM in 1943. Mr. Rice served our country by enlisting in the US Navy Reserves at Notre Dame. Upon completion he became an Ensign and served in the 8th Company of Notre Dame. Mr. Rice was drafted by the Cardinals baseball team before serving in the Navy. He also played semi-professional baseball for the Albuquerque Dukes, was a 32nd degree Mason, and was a member or the UNM Lobo Club. He joined the Albuquerque Country Club in September 1957. He earned his private pilot's license. He was most proud of being a Registered Professional Engineer. He went to work for Lively Equipment Company in 1947 and ultimately became the president and owner of the company. He loved to golf and achieved his first hole-in-one in 1999. He was "Top Dog!" He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche, in 1997. He is survived by his three daughters, Melinda Hamilton and husband, Marvin, of Albuquerque, Cynthia Leonard and husband, Edward, of Albuquerque, and Eloise Hughes and husband, Dwight, of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Jocelyn Stoffan, Nicole Leonard , Shannon Garcia and Ryan Garcia; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Tyler Stoffan; and nephew, Dale Brown and wife, Rita. SANCHEZ -- IGNACIO JR. Mr. Ignacio Sanchez Jr., age 87, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007, with his family by his side. Ignacio proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He remained proud to be a Marine, to the end. Ignacio is survived by his children, Juliette Cordova and husband, Bill, Carmen Apodaca, Lawrence Sanchez and wife, Dolores, Ernest Sanchez and wife, Pauline; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one cousin, Anita Duran; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A very special thank you, with prayers, to the nursing staff at the Intensive Care Unit of the Veterans Hospital and to his beloved grandchildren, Jane Sanchez, Ron, Sam, and Kayla who became his caretakers. SCHORR -- William Thomas Schorr, 85, passed away July 3, 2007. He was born January 20, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. William had lived in NM most of his life since 1938. He was in active service of the United States Navy during WWII. For most of his life, William was a truck driver and was an active part of Teamster Local #492. He was also an avid collector of model trains and a member of the Belen Model Railroad Club. William is preceded in death by the love of his life of 46 years, Mary T. Schorr in 2001. He is survived by his 3 children, William H. Schorr and wife Donna of Jarales, NM.; Nancy Smart, and Mary Munding and husband Chris all of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Michael Munding and wife Tonya of Hillsboro, OR,; Kirsten Sigurdson and husband Jon, Rex Smart and Staci Smart all of Albuquerque, NM; Jennifer Schorr and Daniel Schorr both of Jarales, NM; five great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and close friends. SMITH -- Robert A. Smith died June 30, 2007, at the age of 91. He was born September 25, 1915, in Watertown, S.D., and resided in Rochester, MN. He graduated from Rochester Junior College and received his training in Art as Applied to Medicine at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He was director of the Medical Illustration department at the Lovelace Foundation for Medical Research and Education for 21 years, then joined Tech Reps in Albuquerque as Technical Illustrator until his retirement at age 75. Robert served four years in the Army during WWII in Assam with the 20th General Hospital. His hobbies included painting abstractions of Victorian houses, building furniture, photography and his home and garden. He is survived by his wife, Wilcke Smith; and his sister, Mrs. John C. Ivins; and his nieces Lucinda Larson, Margot Osborn, and Laurie Leaf; and nephew Richard Ivins. Private services were held in Albuquerque July 5, 2007. SPRINGER -- Stephen Miles Springer, 61, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 2, 2007 after a long, and valiant battle with cancer. Born August 9, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX, Steve was preceded in death by his parents, B.P. and Marie Springer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alice Springer; sons, Jason Springer and wife, Regina and Stephen Springer II; daughter, Mary Jane Wyckoff and husband, Kevin; four wonderful grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Preston, Jett and Austin; and one brother, Ben Springer of Odessa, TX. Steve attended Odessa High School and graduated from West Texas State University in 1970 with one of the first degrees offered in Computer Science Technology. He served 4 years in the Texas/New Mexico National Guard. His career in Albuquerque included 29 years with Amrep SW and 8 years with First Financial Credit Union as Director of Information Technology. A gentle, caring and loving family man with a wonderful sense of humor, Steve will be greatly missed by family and friends. He will be with us always through the love his family holds for him in their hearts. VANCE -- Naomi Jeffery Vance, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at the age of 94. Naomi was born in Phoenix, AZ on November 27, 1912. She grew up there and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. Naomi and her husband, the late Harry V. Vance, came to live in Albuquerque with their two young children in early 1938. They owned and operated the local office of the Tri-State Credit Association in downtown Albuquerque for many years. Naomi is survived by her son, William Vance and wife, Pamela, of Albuquerque; daughter, Ginger Tankersley of Lake Worth, FL; five grandchildren, Karina Gautheir, Jeffery Vance, Julie Harrington, Jennifer Sandberg, and Vance Tankersley; six great-grandchildren; sister, Reta Jeffery Fowler of Pacifica, CA; and two nephews, Bruce Fowler and Tom Fowler. Naomi had a long and happy life on Solano Dr. NE with her friends and neighbors who meant so much to her. A memorial service will be held for Naomi on Saturday, July 7, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T.
