SMITH -- Robert A. Smith died June 30, 2007, at the age of 91. He was born September 25, 1915, in Watertown, S.D., and resided in Rochester, MN. He graduated from Rochester Junior College and received his training in Art as Applied to Medicine at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He was director of the Medical Illustration department at the Lovelace Foundation for Medical Research and Education for 21 years, then joined Tech Reps in Albuquerque as Technical Illustrator until his retirement at age 75. Robert served four years in the Army during WWII in Assam with the 20th General Hospital. His hobbies included painting abstractions of Victorian houses, building furniture, photography and his home and garden. He is survived by his wife, Wilcke Smith; and his sister, Mrs. John C. Ivins; and his nieces Lucinda Larson, Margot Osborn, and Laurie Leaf; and nephew Richard Ivins. Private services were held in Albuquerque July 5, 2007.
