ANAYA -- Dorela Anaya, 83, went with the Good Lord on March 24, 2007. She loved to be surrounded by family and friends. She also loved to play Rummy and Po-ke-no with her granddaughter, Pamela, and to do her fill-in puzzles. Mrs. Anaya was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Martinez and Rose Montoya; and by her brothers, Pat Perez and Mike Perez. She is survived by her husband, Andres Anaya; daughter, Dolores Sena and husband, Trinidad; son, Gilbert Anaya and wife, Sharon; sisters, Theresa Leyba, Frances Garcia, Alejandra Duran, and Gabina Montoya; grandchildren, Pamela Sena, James Sena, Marsha Anaya Ledoux, Michelle Schwab, Dorothy Oldfield, and Brian Anaya; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Anaya will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Salazar & Sons Mortuary from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose de los Duranes Mission. BAKAS -- Sylvia (Sevasti) Bakas, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Monday, March 26, 2007. She is survived by her sons, Nicholas Bakas and wife, Diana of Albuquerque; The Very Rev. John Bakas and wife, Maria of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Christina Bakas Bauer of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Christopher Bakas and wife, Heather Bakas of Albuquerque, Carrie Bakas Gordon and husband, Brian Gordon of Albuquerque, Stephen Bauer and Matthew Bauer of Phoenix, AZ, Andrea Bakas, Kassandra Bakas Kirages and husband, Dan Kirages, Katia Bakas, Alexis Bakas of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, Jason Bakas Gordon, Ethan Bakas Gordon, Catherine Anne Bakas. BENAVIDEZ -- Steve Leon Benavidez, age 43, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007. He was born in Belen, NM. Steve graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM, in 1981. He then went on to graduate from the NM State University in 1988, completing his Master's Degree in St. Louis, MO. Steve was a Project Engineer for Wagner Industries in St. Louis from 1988-1996. He then came to New Mexico and was an Associate Dean of Applied Technologies at CNM (TVI) in Albuquerque, NM, from 1996 to present. Steve loved to play golf, boating and fishing. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Esmael and Annie Sanchez; and paternal grandparents, Merejildo and Felicita Benavidez. Steve is survived by his parents, Albert and Sally Sanchez Benavidez; two loving children, Danielle and Zachary Benavidez; two sisters, Renee and Carol Benavidez; and one nephew, Beau Gonzales. All Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM, on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 beginning with a public viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding. CANCIO -- Humberto A. Cancio, a native of Puerto Rico, and resident of Albuquerque, NM, was born January 23, 1913. He stepped into eternity Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the age of 94. DIETZLER -- Thomas E. Dietzler, 59, of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 24, 2007 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Peggy Dietzler; one daughter, Tobie Webb and her husband, Darren; his mother, Betty Dietzler; sister, Carle Dunn and her husband, Bill; his uncle, Carl McGee and his wife, Cinda; parents-in-law, Virgil and Jo Klein; and nephew, Joshua Klein and his wife, Meiling. He was preceded in death by his father, Roman Joseph Dietzler. Thomas was employed in the automotive industry for over 40 years, the last few years of his life employed with Factory Motor Parts. He had a love for the game of golf and played as often as he could. In his travels he made many friends and was loved by all. Thomas was full of life and enjoyed each minute of every day. He enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time with his two dogs, Cielo and Koko and cat, Chloe. Thomas never met a stranger and could make everyone feel welcome into his home. We were so blessed to have him in our lives and he will be deeply missed and always loved. HARENBERG -- John Jay Harenberg, 78, of Santa Fe, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 after a long battle with melanoma. He was born in Cokedale, CO and grew up in Trinidad, CO area. After serving with the U.S. Army in Germany and Korea, Jay was employed by Mountain Bell and retired with over 30 years of service. Jay enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball, tennis, and golf. He was a member of the Northern New Mexico Golf Association, Christ Lutheran Church, and the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn; and his daughters, Jan Stockhoff and husband, Cy, and their children, Maren and Paul, of Albuquerque, NM, Jill O'Neill and husband, Greg, and their children, Jennifer and Kevin of Silverthorne, CO, and Denise Southerland and husband, Robert of Farmington. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Harenberg, and nephew, Jay. His family wishes to thank PMS Home Care and Hospice Center, especially Christina, for their care and kindness. MAESTAS -- Joe A. Maestas, 82, a resident of Chamita, NM, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gorgonio and Francesquita Maestas; daughter, Juanita Maestas; and sisters, Euphemia and Georgia Maestas, Antonia Mascarenas and Josie Gonzales. Joe was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School and attended the University of New Mexico. He was a WWII Veteran, an active leader in numerous Republican Party Organizations and Republican candidate for the State Senator. He was also one of the founders of the Chamita Water Association, an active member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and board member of the Jemez Mountains Electric Co-op. Joe was employed at Puget Sound Navy Yard, Zia Corporation in Los Alamos, Business Owner of Maestas Oil Company in Espanola, State of New Mexico in the Tax Revenue and Department Senior Auditor. Joe is survived by his wife, Eleanor T. Maestas of Chamita; children, Consuelo Pagliocco and husband, Angelo of Norton, MA, David Maestas and wife, Barbara, Clyde Maestas and Theresa Maestas Payne, all of Albuquerque; sister, Ramoncita Montoya of Chamita; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. MAYER -- Ethelann Mayer. In loving memory of Miss Ethelann Mayer, a 30-year resident of Rio Rancho and formerly from Queens, NY. She was born December 30, 1946, and passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2007. The grieving but thankful family surviving are her father, Norman Mayer of Rio Rancho; brother Ronald Mayer and his wife, Margaret of Albion, PA.; twin sister and brother, Diane Mayer of Rio Rancho and Samuel Mayer of Albuquerque; nephews/son Robert Mayer and nephew, Dean Mayer; nieces, Jennifer Edwards, Deborah Brock and Michelle McDonald and their families; and a multitude of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. No formal services will be held. Ethelann wanted everyone to honor and enjoy family in their own way, wherever they might be at this time, thinking fondly of her. She suggested a nice Italian meal. PRICE -- Jan (Putnam) Price, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Jan was involved in the ministries at Christ Church United Methodist in Tucson, AZ as well as St. John's United Methodist in Albuquerque. She was also an educational aide for 13 years in several schools in both Tucson and Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edgar W. Putnam in 1970. Jan is survived by her husband of 27 years, Charles E. Price; her children, Jackie Fitzpatrick and husband, James of Wautoma, WI, Kathleen McLaughlin and husband, Robert of Parker, CO, and Robert Putnam and wife, Donna of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. SANCHEZ -- Joe R. Sanchez, 87, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Stella C. Sanchez, of 15 years; three sons, Joseph of Tierra Amarilla, Robert of Las Vegas, Joseph Kenneth of Albuquerque and all their wives; daughter, Josephine DeBois and husband, Mark, of Bailey, CO; sisters, Emma Chavez of Albuquerque, Margaret Larragoite and husband, Phillip, of Santa Fe, Candy Martinez and husband, Joe, of Park View, Marcie Sexauer and husband, Rick, of Camarillo, CA; brother, Eloy Sanchez and wife, Angie, of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Karen J. Adair of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Maggie Sanchez, Nichole Sanchez, Danielle Sanchez, Damond Sanchez, and LeRoy Samora and wife, Linda; and many nieces and nephews. Joe served with the Army for five years. After he came home, he operated a service station in Tierra Amarilla. Then he moved to Albuquerque and worked for Hutchison Food Company for 22 years. He retired at 65 and continued his mechanical work until four years before his passing. SANDOVAL -- Inez Sandoval, 66, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with her Lord Monday, March 26, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Yolanda Goodloe and husband, Robert; her sister, Viola Padilla; granddaughters, Nicole Lee, Rochelle and Aundrea Goodloe; great-grandchildren, Imari and Cyan Lee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Priscilla Smith. Inez was known for helping out people in need whether she had it or not. She will be greatly missed. SCHUSTER -- Alfred E. Schuster, 72, born March 9, 1935 in Jamaica, NY, passed away on March 20, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann and son, Thomas Edward. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Sutphin, husband, JW, and grandchildren, Rachel and Cory. Alfred was the oldest of six children and has many loving family members still in New York. Al drove an Albuquerque City bus until he retired. Recently his biggest pleasure was taking trips to New York and going with his son-in-law's softball team, the Desperados, on trips and to games. In the end he "Made Out Like A Bandit" because he is reunited with the love of his life, Maryann and he gets to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior. Al's body was donated to the University of New Mexico School of Medicine for education and research. Mike was always building things in his spare time; and he liked to hunt and fish. He was a member of the VFW; and the Local Union #669. TANTILLO -- Victor L. Tantillo was born May 5, 1922. He passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 after a long illness. Victor moved to Albuquerque with his wife and five children from Des Moines, IA. He worked for Safeway Stores, retiring in 1984. Victor is survived by his wife, Betty; and children, Margaret Rucinsky of Seattle, WA, Joseph Tantillo, Mary Currier, Victoria Henley, and Raymond Tantillo, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Rose Mele, Catherine Jackovich, and Irene Tantillo all of Des Moines, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. VAUGHN -- Larry Vaughn passed away on March 22, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel and youngest son, Gary. He is survived by sons, James and wife, Shirley and Gene and wife, Beverly of Albuquerque; daughter, Nancy of Vancouver, WA; daughter-in-law, Lori of Bonner, MT. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michelle, Devon, Dustin, and Laura; and four great-grandchildren. Born in 1917 in Arkansas he moved to Albuquerque in 1923. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1945. He was assigned to the Battleship USS Pennsylvania on December 7, 1941 when it was heavily damaged during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After surviving the Pearl Harbor attack he then saw action in the Guadalcanal battle. When he returned to Albuquerque he worked as a construction superintendent for George Rutherford Construction for 37 years. After retiring from construction he and Hazel owned and operated the senior retirement home, Albuquerque Grand. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. WOOLAM -- Bruce Woolam, 42, of Truth or Consequences, NM passed away at his home Sunday, March 25, 2007. "Mr. Bruce", as he was known, was employed as the chef at AppleTree Educational Center. Bruce had lived in Albuquerque where he was the owner and operator of his own catering business "Snappy Catering". Bruce was a full time and active member of Full Gospel Tabernacle church. He is survived by his sister, Pam Smith, her husband, Randy, their son, Wesley; as well as his friend and step-father, Gary Wood of Truth or Consequences; his niece, Amanda Casteel of Los Alamos; two half-brothers and one half-sister, Stanley, Michael, and Sheri Woolam of Lubbock, TX; and one half brother, Mike Holland of California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jerri Wood of Truth or Consequences; and his father, Lonnie Woolam of Lubbock, TX. A Memorial Service will be held at Full Gospel Tabernacle church at 11:00 a.m. on March 31, 2007 with Pastor Mike Skidmore officiating.
