Obituary for VAUGHN

Larry Vaughn passed away on March 22, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel and youngest son, Gary. He is survived by sons, James and wife, Shirley and Gene and wife, Beverly of Albuquerque; daughter, Nancy of Vancouver, WA; daughter-in-law, Lori of Bonner, MT. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michelle, Devon, Dustin, and Laura; and four great-grandchildren. Born in 1917 in Arkansas he moved to Albuquerque in 1923. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1945. He was assigned to the Battleship USS Pennsylvania on December 7, 1941 when it was heavily damaged during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After surviving the Pearl Harbor attack he then saw action in the Guadalcanal battle. When he returned to Albuquerque he worked as a construction superintendent for George Rutherford Construction for 37 years. After retiring from construction he and Hazel owned and operated the senior retirement home, Albuquerque Grand. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside Services with military honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request the donations be made to the MS Society, 4125 Carlisle NE, Suite A, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
