Obituary for HARENBERG

John Jay Harenberg, 78, of Santa Fe, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 after a long battle with melanoma. He was born in Cokedale, CO and grew up in Trinidad, CO area. After serving with the U.S. Army in Germany and Korea, Jay was employed by Mountain Bell and retired with over 30 years of service. Jay enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball, tennis, and golf. He was a member of the Northern New Mexico Golf Association, Christ Lutheran Church, and the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn; and his daughters, Jan Stockhoff and husband, Cy, and their children, Maren and Paul, of Albuquerque, NM, Jill O'Neill and husband, Greg, and their children, Jennifer and Kevin of Silverthorne, CO, and Denise Southerland and husband, Robert of Farmington. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Harenberg, and nephew, Jay. His family wishes to thank PMS Home Care and Hospice Center, especially Christina, for their care and kindness. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church at Old Pecos Trail and St. Michael's Drive. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial contributions be made to Christ Lutheran Church or PMS Home Care and Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Ave,, Santa Fe, NM 87503-3372.
