BLANK -- Father Godfrey Blank, OFM, 86, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 27, 2004. Father Blank was born the son of Anthony Blank and Emma (nee Schumacher) Blank in Batesville, IN on November 20, 1917. Father Blank is survived by a sister, Jane Lowe of Milford, Cincinnati, OH; and a brother, Robert Blank and wife, Helen of Batesville IN. Father Blank was ordained to the priesthood on March 2, 1945 in Oldenburg, IN. Throughout his priestly life Father Godfrey served as pastor or associate pastor in various missions of the Southwest: Sonora, Texas, Grants, Farmington, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Clovis, Roswell and Los Ojos, New Mexico. Father Godfrey served as Rector of the Cathedral in Santa Fe between 1963 to 1969. Reception of the body and visitation will take place at the St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Friday, July 30, 2004 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral. Burial will follow in the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW in Albuquerque has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

BRAVEMAN -- Morris Braveman, 89, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie. His survivors include his nieces, Roberta Natarus and Denise Waites; and grand nieces and nephews. Morris was a Colonel in the U. S. Army and proudly served in Europe during World War II as the Adjutant General in the First Division under General Patton. He was a past president of Congregation Albert and the Jewish Federation of Greater Albuquerque. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Albuquerque's first greenhouse. CORDOVA-MULHERIN -- Emma Odelia Cordova-Mulherin, daughter of Jose Dolores and Josefa Cordova of Jarales, NM, passed away on July 8, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Delores and Josefa Cordova; six brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by her dear sister, Mary Cordova Torres and her husband, Lawrence of Socorro, NM. Odelia is also survived by three children, Harold Mulherin, Jr. and wife, Linda of Vancouver, WA, Mary Heflin and husband, Glenn of Cornville, AZ, and Marlene Weir and husband, Jimmy of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and twin great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. Services were held in Phoenix, AZ.

CRAVENS -- H. Lois Cravens, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died of unexpected natural causes on July 25, 2004. Born March 7, 1949, to Vernice Spencer and Johnny Wiggins in Crosbyton, TX, Lois was a young 55 year old grandmother who has moved on to be with the Lord and help watch over her family, friends and loved ones. Lois is survived by her mother, Vernice; her son, Tony Minter and wife, Keri; her son, Ian Minter; her brothers, Douglas Woods, Curtis Spencer, Clifton Spencer, Robert and Johnny Wiggins; her sister, Anita Kay Banks; her grandchildren, Rashaun and Tiana Minter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceeded in death by her father, Johnny, and her brother, Marvin Spencer. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunrise Memorial located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE.

FUNKE -- Dennis H. Funke, 64, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 23, 2004 with his family at his side. MICHELBACK -- Joe C. Michelback, age 58, passed away July 28, 2004. A lifetime resident of Albuquerque, he worked for Julian Garcia Toyota. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Michelback. He is survived by his sisters, Stella Michelback, Isabel Molina, and Patsy Flores and husband, Leroy; sister-in-law, Lorrie Michelback; half-sister, Virginia Trujillo; aunts, Florence Lopez, Louisa Jones and Mela Castillo; numerous other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004. MILLIGAN -- Douglas Craig Milligan tragically passed away on July 24, 2004. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on August 27, 1945. He is survived by wife, Margaret; sons, Michael and Matthew; mother, Nedra Ayres Jones; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Ayres; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Helen McKay; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doug is preceded in death by his father, George Milligan. Doug was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War where he was a Warrant Officer and flew Huey helicopters. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Bronze Star and two Air Medals during his tour of service. After his military service, Doug began his broadcasting career in Hobbs, NM and continued his career in Albuquerque as a disc jockey, Channel 13 news anchorman, and an air traffic reporter. He moved on to broadcasting sales/management where he was particularly proud of his involvement with KRZY, KRST, and KAT Country radio stations. After leaving broadcasting, he pursued his interest in computer technology by helping to start a web-hosting Internet company. Doug finalized his professional career at Rich Ford where he worked in sales for two years until his death. While at Rich Ford he enjoyed one of the happiest times and ended his rich, varied and successful career. Doug and his family were very active at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish where Doug served as a lector at the 7:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. His hobbies included computers, travel, his sons and family. He has enjoyed extensive travel and was able to make good on a long-standing promise to take his immediate family to Ireland. Along with his family, Doug leaves behind his many church friends, Einstein coffee friends, work friends and neighborhood friends. Doug was a beloved and devoted son, father, husband, and friend who will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. MORA -- Bertha (Bert) Mora, 52, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 after 5 years of battling ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease). She was preceded in death by her father, Nasario Maldonado; sister, Joyce Delgado; and grandson, Juan Amores. PRIETO -- Paul "Pablo" Prieto, 55, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at his home Sunday, July 25, 2004. He is survived by his son, Justin Paul Prieto of Los Chavez, NM; daughter, Kristy Karen Flores and husband, Tommy; grandchildren, Glenn Tommy Flores and Ashly Kristy Flores, all of Los Lunas; sister, Gay Prieto Thompson; niece, Sarah Beth Thompson, both of Colorado Springs, CO; and dear friend, Juanita Lopez of Albuquerque. Mr. Prieto worked for 28 years at PNM. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 412. Mr. Prieto was an avid horseman and breeder. RUBIO -- Margaret C. Rubio, 73, a retired elementary school teacher and resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Candelaria; and a brother, Nick Candelaria. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dan Rubio of the family home; two daughters, Anna Marie McClellan and her husband, Billy of Las Cruces, NM and Jane Rubio of Rifle, CO; her mother, Lily Candelaria of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Ella Lucero of San Bruno, CA and Gloria Cole of Littleton, CO; one brother, John Candelaria and his wife, Emily of Albuquerque, NM; a granddaughter, Jenna McClellan of Las Cruces, NM; a brother-in-law, Arthur Rubio and his wife, Celsa of Las Vegas; and a sister-in-law, Rose Rubio also of Las Vegas. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on April 7, 1931 and received her BA at St. Joseph's College in Albuquerque. She began her teaching career at the Barcelona Elementary School in Albuquerque and then at the San Felipe School also in Albuquerque. She taught at the North and South Public Schools and spent the rest of her career at Legion Park Elementary School here in Las Vegas up until her retirement. She was a member of the Northeastern Regional Hospital Auxiliary and also the Alta Vista Regional Hospital Auxiliary. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. A rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning, July 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. SHEBLER -- Ruth M. Shebler, 80, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Ruth was born June 12, 1924, the daughter of Emil and Catherine Lendzian, in Staten Island, NY. She had been a Daycare worker with the Amiquitos Daycare before she retired. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. She loved reading, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in December 2002 and one grandson, George Shea. She is survived by three children, Janice Sciarrillo and husband, Tony of Albuquerque, James Shebler and wife, Debbie of Rio Rancho, and Judy Valencia and husband, Ambrose of Portland, OR; two sisters, Gladyes Ford of Long Island, NY and Beverly Frank of Earlton, NY; seven grandchildren, Jessie, Mathew, Joseph, Mellissa, Lynn, Michael, and Christina; and nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Zach, James, Brandon, Anthony, Caleb, Preston, Jordyn, and Richard. SPIRUP -- James George Spirup of Sequim, Washington, passed away at home on Saturday, July 24, 2004. The oldest son of Peter Michael Spirup and Lona Marie Rasmussen Spirup, he was born at St. Paul, Oregon, on July 9, 1922. He received his early education at St. Paul, OR, graduating from high school in 1938. He graduated from Pacific College of Newberg, OR in 1942 with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He pursued graduate study in History at the University of California in Berkeley. He was employed by Sandia Laboratories of Livermore, CA and later Albuquerque, NM for thirty-five years. Upon his retirement from Albuquerque in 1992, he and his wife moved to Sequim, WA. On June 22, 1945, he married his college sweetheart, Betty Ann Craven. They were married for fifty-nine years. Their children include Patricia Carol Terry of Marysville, WA, JoAnn Luckemeyer of Reno, NV, Virginia Charline Leoppard of Truckee, CA and James Michael Spirup of Abingdon, VA. Proud of his Danish heritage, Mr. Spirup's grandparents immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. His grandfather, Peter Rasmussen, graduated from seminary in Iowa. Reverend Rasmussen pastored churches in Iowa, California and Portland, OR, where he eventually retired. Mr. Spirup was born at their home in St. Paul, OR. A veteran of World War II, he faithfully served his country as a Naval pilot in Germany. A sincere love of the Lord Jesus Christ pervaded his life. He was active in Bible Study Fellowship International, serving as a discussion leader for several years. He was the Christian Education Elder at the Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, where his family worshipped during their years in CA. He was active in Gideons International, working through the local organization. A faithful member of Sequim Presbyterian Church, he lead small discussion groups though the Alpha Program. He was also a leader of the Small Groups Ministry. Mr. Spirup is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters, Patricia, JoAnn and Virginia; and his son, Jim. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Eric Metz, Jennifer Harrington, Megan Oelhert, Joel Luckenmeyer and Helen Spirup, Caitie Jo Terry, Raven Elizabeth Avery; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, and Hanna Harrington. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Spirup, of Salem, OR. WADE -- J.C. Wade Flandreau, SD- J.C. Wade, 65, passed away Monday. He was born Oct. 3, 1938 at Flandreau to Ross B. and Clara (Allen) Wade. In Dec '74 became the superintendent at the Phoenix Indian School. Director of Indian Education - BIA, Albuquerque, NM. President of the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe, NM. He returned to the Aberdeen, SD Area BIA ('87-'91) and then worked in Washington, DC, for Dept. of Education, as Deputy Director, Division of Indian Ed. He retired in 1995 and returned to Flandreau. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two daughters: Jean M. (Gerald S.) Lane, Naperville, IL; Lynn R. Wade, Flandreau; two grandchildren: Brittany and Stephen; his siblings: Ross A., Flandreau, Don H. (Kittie), Flandreau; Dorothy W. (A. Rolfe) Black, Santa Fe, NM and Dean E. (Mary), Weatherford, TX. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 29, 11:00 a.m., at Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau with burial in First Presbyterian Cemetery.
