Father Godfrey Blank, OFM, 86, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 27, 2004. Father Blank was born the son of Anthony Blank and Emma (nee Schumacher) Blank in Batesville, IN on November 20, 1917. Father Blank is survived by a sister, Jane Lowe of Milford, Cincinnati, OH; and a brother, Robert Blank and wife, Helen of Batesville IN. Father Blank was ordained to the priesthood on March 2, 1945 in Oldenburg, IN. Throughout his priestly life Father Godfrey served as pastor or associate pastor in various missions of the Southwest: Sonora, Texas, Grants, Farmington, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Clovis, Roswell and Los Ojos, New Mexico. Father Godfrey served as Rector of the Cathedral in Santa Fe between 1963 to 1969. Reception of the body and visitation will take place at the St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Friday, July 30, 2004 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral. Burial will follow in the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW in Albuquerque has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
