Amonette -- Edward Lynch Amonette, born 9 April 1924, completed his life's journey on March 21, 2003, after a courageous 19-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Bea; three children from his first marriage, James Edward Amonette of Richland, WA, Philip Michael Amonette of Silt, CO, and Elizabeth Rachel Amonette Walter of Salem, NH; two step-daughters, Maribeth Kilgore and Rebecca Sue Baumann; five grandchildren, Patricia Morgan Amonette, Reuben Amonette Garst, Jeannelle Anne Amonette, Anneliese Michelle Walter, and Katharina Christine Walter; six step-grandchildren, Scott Kilgore, Jason Kilgore, Shauna Torrez, Danny Torrez, Amanda Torrez, and Callista Torrez; and one great-grandchild, Kalob Defiance Amonette and one step-great-grandchild, Elijah Montoya. He was preceded in death by his sisters Hazel, Grace, and Louise, and by his first wife, Barbara Ann. Born in Lander, Wyoming, Ed grew up in Elko, Nevada and graduated from Elko High School in 1942. He was an Eagle Scout and supported scouting in many capacities during his life. He served as a meteorologist in the U.S. Army during the Second World War. After the war, he attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for several years at Sandia National Laboratories before going into business on his own as an electronic manufacturer's representative. He served as a Trustee for the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque for many years, was executive director of the New Mexico Wildlife Federation for two years, and was an avid member of Toastmaster's International. Ed had a life-long love of the outdoors and spent much of his time camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends, often packing into the wilderness with a string of horses. For a number of years, he ran a guiding and outfitting business for hunters. He also kept a small ranch south of Mountainair, where he spent many wonderful times with family and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed writing short stories and poems, many of which reflected his dry, droll wit. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Ayers -- James B. Ayers, 86, passed away peacefully early Monday, March 24, 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rosario Ayers. He is survived by his only daughter, Casey Schneider; four grandchildren, Jason and Travis Balderston, Paige and Delaney Schneider; two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Micah Balderston. He moved to Albuquerque in 1955 and retired from the Purchasing Department at Sandia Laboratories in 1980 after 23 years. Cremation and a private services will be held. the family wants to express their appreciation to the loving caregivers at Carefree Living, and to the staff of Presbyterian Home Healthcare. Blakely -- Herbert Earl"Garth" Blakely, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Garth was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 28, 1938 and lived in Albuquerque since 1964. He is survived by his daughter, Laurel Baird of Del City, OK; his son, Christopher Blakely of Moriarty, NM; and four grandchildren, Robert Montoya, Sydney Baird, Brandon Blakely and Chelsea Blakely. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Peoples of Berea, KY and two brothers, Bruce Blakely of Hugo, OK and Blair Blakely of Modesto, CA. Of special mention are Garth's two best friends, Lyn Carter and Mary Ann Calahan. His lifelong career as a pilot included service in the New Mexico Air National Guard's 188th Fighter Squadron. While completing 248 combat missions in Vietnam, piloting F-100's, he was awarded the Air Medal and The Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. Following military service, he retired after 30 years of service as a Continental Airline's pilot. The Family would like to give a Special Thanks to all the health professionals at St. Josephs radiation/oncology and Lovelace Health Systems for the care Garth received during his battle. Casaus -- Juan"Johnny" David Casaus, 46, a lifelong resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away March 22, 2003. He is survived by his sons, Juan L. Casaus, Ambrosio Casaus, and Lucas Casaus; daughters, Angelina Casaus and Fallon Romero; grandchildren, Cisco Casaus, Andres Casaus, and Trinity Galindro; parents, Max and Carmen Casaus; brother Robert Casaus; sister, Margie Clark; and several nieces and nephews, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Casaus graduated from Valley High School in 1975 and received a Bachelors of Science in Education from UNM in 2000. He was active in working with the homeless. Juan enjoyed being in the mountains, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 25, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd NW. Chapman -- Joan Elizabeth (Wallace) Chapman, beloved mother and wife, passed into God's hands on March 24, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walt; and their children and families, Mike, Beverly, and Billy of Santa Fe, and Cindy of Albuquerque; and by her brother, Ted Wallace of Fort Worth, Texas and all the Wallace families. Grandmother of six, her family was always most important in her life. She made people all around her feel a part of her family and opened her heart, home, and family to several foreign exchange students. Joan came to Santa Fe in 1966 with Walt to start their building company. She served as President of the Women's Division of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce for two terms, and was the first Women's Division President to serve on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She had a great love for travel, and animals. Throughout her life she was surrounded by the love of her dogs and cats. No one was ever turned away at her door. She shared her love and laughter with all those around her and wanted nothing but happiness for all she cared for. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Davidson -- Carl Boyd Davidson, Sr., 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Saturday, March 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Opal Davidson of the family home; son, Carl Boyd Davidson, Jr.; daughter, Diana Davidson; grandchildren, Jason Willins, Scott, Curt and Chad Davidson, Crystal Holmes and Christine Thayer; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Dakota, Celeste, Stetson, Savannah, John and Kacie. Carl, Sr. was the owner and founder of Davidson Upholstery Supply. He started the business in Tulsa and then relocated the business to Albuquerque. Miller -- E. Merle Miller, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977 and former resident of Bartlesville, OK, died Sunday, March 23, 2003. He is survived by his children, Mary Ann Miller of Cumming, GA; Betty Jean Blue and husband, David Williams of Edmond, OK; Rita Marie Miller and husband, Larry Erickson of Beaverton, OR; John Patrick Miller and wife, Lynn of Shelton, CT; Henry Harvey Miller of Firestone, CO; and Lori Lea Butler of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Louis Miller of El Paso, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda H. Miller and son, James Miller. Upon graduation from college, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company and retired from the same. They moved to Bartlesville, OK in 1947 and raised their family there. Phillips moved them to London, England in 1972. Merle and Frieda relocated to Albuquerque in 1977 where he retired. Mr. Miller was involved with the Stamp Club. He and his wife enjoyed playing bridge. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Pino -- Victoriana C. Pino, born in Alameda, passed away Saturday at the age of 90. Mrs. Pino was a member of the San Felipe de Neri Blue Army. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elfego Pino. She is survived by one son, Pete Pino; five daughters, Carlota Sanchez, Beatrice Cochron, Jessie Montoya, Fabiola Salazar and husband, Joe, and Rita Pino-Vargas and husband, Julio; two brothers, Juan Chavez, and Prospero Chavez and wife, Stella; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Sanchez -- Maria"Susie" Sanchez, born September 19, 1911, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003 at a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Sara Sanchez; brother, Juan C. Sanchez; and sister, Taida Garcia. She is survived by Henry and Gloria Sanchez, Waldo and Marie Elaine Sanchez, and Tony Sanchez, and many loving nieces and nephews. Susie's early jobs included an elevator operator at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood, California, and a riveter with Lockheed-Martin. She retired from Woolworth in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was a Foster Grandparent with the Mariposa Head Start Program for 20 years. She was born and raised in Martineztown and was a lifelong member of San Ignacio Church. Susie loved to gamble and play bingo and lived a strong happy life. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who took such good care of her and loved her like a"Grandma" at Valle Norte Nursing Home. Memorial Services for Susie will be held on Friday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Senseney -- Robert J. Senseney, born May 14, 1923, made his passage on Thursday, March 20, 2003 following a heroic struggle with cancer. Robert's life was a celebration of determination, courage, vision, intellectualism, and phenomenal ingenuity. He was a devoted husband, a loyal and revered father, and a playful attentive grandfather. He served in combat in WWII and influenced many lives during his 25-year teaching career at Jefferson Jr. High. Robert was a man of remarkable talent - there wasn't a question he couldn't answer or a problem he couldn't solve. No project was beyond his ability. If it could be built, he could build it. Above all he was a teacher in all aspects of his life. He was a true renaissance man. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnn, their four children, Ronnelle Browning and husband, Dave of Washington, Jan Lemme and husband, Frederick of Texas, Robert Senseney, II, and wife, Nan of Wyoming, Jeff Sensensey and wife, Brenda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Matthew Browning, Nicholas Browning, Frederick Lemme, Jr., Brooke Revels; brother, Gary Senseney of Connecticut; and sister-in-law, Marie Loudner of Oklahoma with whom he was very close. Robert will be missed tremendously for his guidance, creativity, wisdom, wit and enthusiasm. Our hearts are forever full from the inspiration of his rich and well-lived life. Silva -- Sofia R. Silva, age 85, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior, Sunday, March 23, 2003. Sofia was born in Las Tusas, NM to the late Esteban and Adelaida Romero. She was most recently residing in Albuquerque, formerly of Las Vegas, NM; where she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church; she also attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Sofia was preceded in death by her husband, Eufracio J. Silva in 1999; and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving children, Joe Silva and wife, Jennifer, Ben Silva and wife, Shirley-Rey of Rio Rancho, NM, Ida Martinez and husband, Anthony of Corrales, NM, Sadie Helms and husband, Alan of Lincoln, NE, Stella Copeland and husband, Mickey of Albuquerque, NM and Onesima Nolan and husband, Harry of Rociada, NM; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Mariano Romero of Las Vegas, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Sofia will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Surdahl -- Jeffry D. Surdahl, 46, or Swiftwater, Monroe County, Pennsylvania died Saturday in the Hospice Unit at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, PA after an illness. Born on September 19, 1956 in Garrison, North Dakota he was a son of Delano and Maxine (Stefonowicz) Surdahl, Albuquerque. He resided in Pennsylvania for the past four years and formerly in Montrose, CO four years and Albuquerque previously. Mr. Surdahl was a 1974 graduated of Sandia High School and attended New Mexico State at Las Cruces. He graduated from the TVI drafting program. He was employed as a pressman at several printing companies in Albuquerque and later in Colorado. He was last employed as a printer at the Huxley Envelope Co., Mount Pocono, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1979. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, West Nanticoke and was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, Albuquerque. Surviving in addition to his parents; is a son, Todd Jeffry Surdahl; and a daughter, Brenna Leigh Surdahl both of Tannersville, PA; brothers, Scott, of Albuquerque and Brian of Tulsa, OK; and one niece. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, East Poplar St., West Nanticoke, PA with Rev. Peg Knapich, officiating. Trujillo -- Edilberto (Eddie) Jacquez Trujillo, age 85, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Sunday, March 23, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born in Blanco, NM to the late David and Zenobia Trujillo; he was a resident of Albuquerque; a proud Veteran of the United States Army; and a member of the American Legion Post #69. Eddie enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Eddie has gone fishing to heavenly waters. Eddie was a very loving, compassionate and giving person, who always made time for everyone; people in general were important to him; he will always be remembered by the great sense of humor he had. We love you, daddy, you will always be in our hearts. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Agnes Trujillo of the family home; his children, James Trujillo, Lawrence Trujillo, Carole Vincent and husband, Stephen, Virginia Wall and husband, Ray all of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Sam Trujillo, Ruben Trujillo and his wife, Bennie; two sisters, Sara Valencia and Estella Martinez, all of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
