Sofia R. Silva, age 85, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior, Sunday, March 23, 2003. Sofia was born in Las Tusas, NM to the late Esteban and Adelaida Romero. She was most recently residing in Albuquerque, formerly of Las Vegas, NM; where she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church; she also attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Sofia was preceded in death by her husband, Eufracio J. Silva in 1999; and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving children, Joe Silva and wife, Jennifer, Ben Silva and wife, Shirley-Rey of Rio Rancho, NM, Ida Martinez and husband, Anthony of Corrales, NM, Sadie Helms and husband, Alan of Lincoln, NE, Stella Copeland and husband, Mickey of Albuquerque, NM and Onesima Nolan and husband, Harry of Rociada, NM; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Mariano Romero of Las Vegas, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Sofia will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at Silva Family Cemetery in PeŇasco Blanco (Rociada), NM. Casket bearers will be Mike Copeland, Steven Copeland, Lambert Lontok, Joseph Lee Lynch, Darian Nolan, and Alan Helms.
