Obituary for Sanchez

Maria"Susie" Sanchez, born September 19, 1911, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003 at a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Sara Sanchez; brother, Juan C. Sanchez; and sister, Taida Garcia. She is survived by Henry and Gloria Sanchez, Waldo and Marie Elaine Sanchez, and Tony Sanchez, and many loving nieces and nephews. Susie's early jobs included an elevator operator at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood, California, and a riveter with Lockheed-Martin. She retired from Woolworth in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was a Foster Grandparent with the Mariposa Head Start Program for 20 years. She was born and raised in Martineztown and was a lifelong member of San Ignacio Church. Susie loved to gamble and play bingo and lived a strong happy life. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who took such good care of her and loved her like a"Grandma" at Valle Norte Nursing Home. Memorial Services for Susie will be held on Friday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
