Obituary for Chapman

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday March 25, 2003

Joan Elizabeth (Wallace) Chapman, beloved mother and wife, passed into God's hands on March 24, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walt; and their children and families, Mike, Beverly, and Billy of Santa Fe, and Cindy of Albuquerque; and by her brother, Ted Wallace of Fort Worth, Texas and all the Wallace families. Grandmother of six, her family was always most important in her life. She made people all around her feel a part of her family and opened her heart, home, and family to several foreign exchange students. Joan came to Santa Fe in 1966 with Walt to start their building company. She served as President of the Women's Division of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce for two terms, and was the first Women's Division President to serve on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She had a great love for travel, and animals. Throughout her life she was surrounded by the love of her dogs and cats. No one was ever turned away at her door. She shared her love and laughter with all those around her and wanted nothing but happiness for all she cared for. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Salvation Army. At this time, all service times are pending. Arrangements are pending under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
