Ater -- Reverdie Roy Ater, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Sunday, September 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Ater of Albuquerque; sons, Stephen Ater and wife, Aknight of Los Lunas and Alan Ater and wife, Jill of Dallas, TX; granddaughters, Aubrie and Megan Ater; grandsons, Matthew and David Ater; and sister, Patsy Ward of Dallas, TX. Reverdie began his mercantile business in Littlefield, TX in 1947 with Ben Franklin Stores. After moving to Albuquerque, he opened the Ben Franklin's in Hoffmantown Shopping Center, which later moved to Winrock Shopping Mall in 1968. Reverdie established Toys by Roy in 1961, which he operated until 1988. Services will be held Thursday, October 4, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Monroe Miles officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Baca -- Cynthia M. Baca of Albuquerque passed away September 28, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Chandelle; her parents, Brei and Hermelinda Baca of Albuquerque; her brother, Brei Jr. and wife, Julie and children of Albuquerque; her sister, Sheila and husband, Joe Rodriguez and children of Mission, TX. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother; her maternal grandfather and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at the Albuquerque Revival Center. She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park following Services. We love you and you will be missed!

Berghofer -- C. Louis Berghofer was born in Taos Junction, NM on January 11, 1930 to Carl and Winnifred Berghofer. He was raised in Rinconada, NM. A lifelong resident of New Mexico, Louis died peacefully at home October 2, 2001 in Rio Rancho. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Steve Carpenter and wife, Kathy of Corpus Christy, TX, Linda Dilsaver and husband, Ben of Erie, CO; and Rebecca Jones and husband, Brian of Roswell, NM. Ten grandchildren also survive, Danny, Jared, Ethan, Matthew, and Shaeleen Carpenter, Rachel and Mitchell Dilsaver, Kyla, Kendra and Kelsey Jones; and two great-grandchildren; his brother, Carl Berghofer and wife, Faith with children, Carl Jr. and Elaine of Rinconada also survive him. Louis worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish Dept. for 37 years and was extremely dedicated to wild life conservation. During his life he enjoyed square dancing in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, umpiring for little league, and fishing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society of Lovelace Hospice. The Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 19th Ave., Rio Rancho on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Ziecker officiating. Bonifacio -- Abran Luna, age 77, passed away October 2, 2001 at the Northeastern Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, NM following an illness. Boni was born July 6, 1942 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Antonio and Pablita Madrid Luna. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn graduating from Vaughn High School in 1943. He married Rosa Gonzalez on September 20, 1947. Boni was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn and a World War II Veteran. Boni is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Bernadette Luna Perez; and his brother, Tony Luna, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Rose Luna of the family home in Vaughn; his sons, Robert Luna and wife, Stella of Vaughn and Joe Luna and wife, Angela of Albuquerque; his son-in-law, Victor Perez and wife, Liz of Las Vegas, NM; his sister, Amy Luna-Lucero and husband, Bonifacio of Vaughn; his sister-in-law, Jeanne Luna of Santa Fe and a close cousin raised like a sister, Mary Ann West of Anaheim, CA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Richard R. Luna and wife, Veronica, Angela Luna Rael and husband, Leroy, Janis luna, Manuel Luna, Isacc Perez and Jessica, Abran Perez, Regina Luna Arguello and husband, Jessie Arguello; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Rael, April Arguello, Arianna Perez and Cienna Luna. Rosary Services will be held on Thursday, evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Mary's Church with Father Jasinski officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers will be Richard R. Luna, Angela Luna Rael, Janis Luna, Manuel Luna, Issac Perez, Abran Perez and Regina Luna Arguello. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Bonifacio Lucero, Arthur Marquez, Marcos Arguello, Manny Aguilar, Sr., Gilbert Aguilar, Gilbert Griego, Manuel Cordova, Chris Arguello, Frank Chavez, Manuel Madrid, Tony Romo, Gilbert Gutierrez, Erminio Gonzales and Lorenzo Luna. Brack -- Manfred Brack, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolly Brack of Albuquerque; daughters, Gloria Baratta and husband, Ricardo of Rio Rancho and Liliana Graf and husband, Norberto of Albuquerque; son, Ricardo Brack and wife, Nancy; grandsons, Leonardo Baratta, Alexis Graf and wife, Felicia and Ricardo Graf; granddaughter, Lissette Brack; grandson, Christopher Brack; granddaughter, Nadia Graf, all of Albuquerque; and sister, Elsa Oviedo and husband, Raul of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Capute -- Barbara Yaeko Capute, 81, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Barbara came to the United States in 1954 with her husband, John and daughter, Bobbie. As the wife of a career military man and the mother of three, Barbara spent the next twenty-one years moving from one army post to the next throughout the U.S. until finally settling down in Albuquerque in 1975. Barbara came to love her adopted country and one of the happiest moments in her life was when she received her citizenship in 1977. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1978. She is survived by daughter, Bobbie , son, David and his wife, Sheila, grandsons Joshua and Brenden all of Albuquerque, NM, and son John of Atlanta, GA. Dominic -- Dominic, "Joe Black", 22, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, September 30, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Debra Asbridge of Albuquerque; sister, Candi Dean of Phoenix; brothers, Corey Dean and Chris Torres, both of Albuquerque; grandparents, Duane and Delores Broshious of Albuquerque and Robert Sr. and Lois Asbridge of Ft. Myers, Florida; great-grandfather, Carl R. Williams of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dominic volunteered at Mandy's Special Farm. He worked at the Adelante Mail Room and he loved fishing, bowling, bingo, slots, finding golf balls and attending Lobo Women's Basketball games. His ambition in life was to one day become a chef. Eckles -- Richard E. Eckles, 77, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and friend passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2001. He was a resident of Albuquerque; a proud veteran of the United States Army who served our Country during World War II, in the 82nd Airborne Division; and was a First Lieutenant in United States Airforce, Bomber Pilot Division, during the Korean Conflict; and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #10763. Richard was preceded in death by his father, William M. A. Eckles; and his son William Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth of the family home; his daughter, Barbara Kay Fike of Billings, MT; one granddaughter, Laura Fike also of Billings, MT; his mother, Mavis Eckles of Albuquerque; two very special friends, Jess and Coyito Davila. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitations will be this evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Fierro -- Gilbert Fierro, 55, a devoted Christian and 30-year resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carol Fierro; his two children, Miguel and Katrina Fierro and their mother, Dianne Fierro; his three stepsons, Ron Claycomb, Greg Claycomb, and Kevin Claycomb; three grandsons, Christopher Gonzales and Victor and Peter Claycomb; his parents, Manuel and Marta Fierro of Artesia, NM; three brothers, Manuel Fierro of Carlsbad, NM, Robert Fierro of Ropesville, TX; and David Fierro of Artesia, NM; two sisters, Mary Vargas of Artesia, NM, and Veronica Baker of Brunswick, GA; and a host of loving friends. Gilbert was born and raised in Artesia, NM. While a resident of Albuquerque, he devoted much of his life to helping others both in his church, St. Marks-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, and in the community. He made four missionary trips to help the people of Honduras, participated regularly in feeding the homeless, and was an active member of the Cursillo community. For the past two years, Gilbert was a dedicated and enthusiastic site supervisor for Habitat for Humanity in Valencia County, NM. He will be most remembered for his boundless generosity, his willingness to serve God in all he did, and his love of cooking. He will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE. Hutchins -- Richard "Hutch" Hutchins, 55, died on Sunday, September 30, 2001 after a long illness. His parents, Marge and Richard; sister, Janice Gauna; brother, Jerry; and son, Darren, all live in Albuquerque; his daughter, Darci, is currently stationed at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas. Hutch was a member of the Sitzmarkers, Albuquerque Swing and Dance Club. He loved, among other things, dancing, the mountains, his family and friends. He loved life. Hutch touched many lives and had many wonderful friends. Remember him with joy; that is what he wanted. Jackson -- David Jerome Jackson, 62, of La Plata, NM, passed away October 1, 2001. David was blessed to have two loving families and many friends. David was the beloved husband of Sally Suter; father to two sons, Andy and Michael; and brother to Larry, Alice and Judy. David was so joyful that he was able to be with his sons just a few weeks ago. David was loved and embraced by Sally's extended family, especially her children, Tammy and Tatum. David and Sally were only two weeks from their second wedding anniversary. Though they found each other late in life, they had been finding each other for all time. David loved light and color, loved to express beauty through his art, loved to use his exquisite mind and most of all, loved God. David, we love you and we know you are now held in God's heart. There will be a celebration Service for David's life in Santa Fe, NM on Sunday, October 7, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, at the corner of St. Francis Drive and San Mateo. Please join us for a potluck in the church community room immediately afterwards. This will be a time to share remembrances of David. Liguori -- Pasquale A. Liguori, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Sunday, September 30, 2001. He is survived by his sons, Gerard Liguori and Michael Liguori and wife, Ellen, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia M. Liguori, of Carlsbad; brothers, Armond Liguori and wife, Mary, of Lindenhurst, New York, Vincent Liguori and wife, Eileen, of East Islip, New York; sister Emily Ketcher and husband, Gene, of Elmont, New York; nephew, Jerry Liguori of Citrus Heights, California; grandchildren, Matthew Liguori, Missy Clibon and husband, Tony, Douglas Liguori and wife, Janne, and Gina Mosavi and husband, Mohamad; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Clibon, Melinda Clibon, Erin Liguori, Paymon Mosavi, Pegga Mosavi, and Paresa Mosavi. Mr. Liguori was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen. He was one of the founding fathers of Holy Ghost Church and a World War II army veteran. Pat was a member of Seliac Support Group of Albuquerque, the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Association of Albuquerque and also the Thunderbird Retirement Club of Sandia Labs. Mead -- Richard G. Mead, 58, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 27, 2001. Smith -- Frederick "Fred" B. Smith, 70, born in Wesley PA, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1954 passed away suddenly at home Monday, October 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Anita Smith of Albuquerque; son, Brian G. Smith of Antioch, CA; daughter, Elisa Baca and husband, Vince of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Bryce, Arianna and Shelby Baca, all of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Ray Evans of Palm springs, CA; dear family friend, Marion"Nanny" Leech of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith attended Wesley Public Schools and graduated from Grove City High School in 1949. He attended Slippery Rock University and Syracuse University Extension and then graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1957 with a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in 1967. He was employed by Albuquerque Public Schools as a social studies teacher at Jefferson Middle School and retired in 1985 after teaching for 27 years. Before retirement, he was social studies department chairman. He was a member of the Albuquerque Classroom Teachers Association, National Education Association, Phi Kappa Alpha, and the Order of the Red Red Rose. He served on many district social studies committees and school evaluation teams. He was a veteran of the Korean War and loved his country. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served with the 3rd Bay Wing, 90th Bomb Squad and 3rd Member Squadron at Kunsa, Korea. He performed fabric maintenance on B-26 invader light bombers. He was discharged in 1954 from Kirtland Air Force Base. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church since 1958. He served on the education workshop committee, finance committee and the administration board. He loved to sing with vocal groups. He was a member of the New Mexi-Chords since 1972. For many years, he coordinated the travel plans for the chorus when going to competitions throughout the United States. In addition to his love of singing, he loved to travel. He enjoyed playing golf, following sports team (especially the Pittsburgh Pirates) and attending UNM basketball and football games. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and especially loved playing with his grandchildren who lovingly called him"Papa". Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 5, 2001, at 4:00 p.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, with Rev. Him Hawk officiating. Thomas -- Joe Thomas, father, grandfather, and friend, 79, born March 19, 1922 in Pueblo, Colorado, died Sunday, September 30, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Thomas, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959 passed away at Presbyterian Hospital from complications with cancer. Preceded in death by his wife, Lamona Marie Thomas "Brownie" in 1983, he is survived by his daughter, Pam and husband, Randy Allen; son, Stan Thomas; grandchildren, Kim Massey-Dimsha, SeanAguilar-Thomas, Andrew and Matthew Rhyand, Mackenzie Allen; and great-grandson, Max Dimsha, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are siblings, Fred Thomas with wife, Donna; Charles Thomas, and Virginia Allen; as well as close friends, Georgia LaBar; Marvin and Louisa Friedichsen with their daughter, Felicia. Joe Thomas was a member of the Local Teamster's Union #492 and also of the National Street Rod Association. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 5, 4:00 p.m. at Aspen Funeral Services, 1935 Juan Tabo Blvd., N.E.

Vigil -- Lorenzo H. Vigil, 63, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, MaryAnn Vigil of Albuquerque; sons, Vincent L. Vigil and wife, Ana of Rio Rancho, Patrick D. Vigil and wife, Anna of Albuquerque and Anthony Ray Vigil and wife, Kristin of Silver City, NM; seven grandchildren, Tony, Eric, Ashley, Leonard, Maricka, Maria and Jacob; brother, Flavio John Vigil, Jr. and wife, Josie; sisters, Margaret Carrillo and Nancy Vigil, all of Albuquerque. Lorenzo was a member of St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. He served his country during Vietnam, and he retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. A homecoming celebration will be held Thursday, 6:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at 12:00 noon, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Webster -- Add Webster, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001. He is survived by his son, Patrick Webster and wife, Joyce of Ohio and Florida; one brother, George D. Webster of Griswold, IA; sister-in-law, Marjorie Boyle of Sunnyvale, CA; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including cousin, Helen Schei and Mr. Jasper Heath. He was preceded in death by his wife, Terese; parents, Aaron and Effie; brothers, Alton and Lyle; and sister, Adeline. Mr. Webster was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School in Iowa, Class of 1933 and attended the University of Northern Iowa, University of Oregon and the University of New Mexico before going to Holloman AFB. He was a Minor Leaguer in 1938-39 with the St. Louis Cardinal organization. Mr. Webster was a Disabled Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was also a member of American Legion Post 13. He was an administrator with the Small Business Administration in Albuquerque before retiring in 1972. Mr. Webster was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 8, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. Wingert -- Dorothy Wingert, 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 1, 2001. She is survived by her children, Leslie L. Wingert and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque and Cynthia Patrick and husband, Charles of Huntsville, AR; grandchildren, Donna Leigh Patrick, Jeanie Blincow and husband, Michael, Cheryl Settle and husband, Tim, Mark Allen Wingert and wife, Nancy, Todd Wingert and wife, Jerrie; great-grandchildren, Shawn Settle, Ryan Settle, Kelsey Blincow, Cameron Blincow, Kayla Blincow, Troy Wingert and Tiffany Renea Wingert; and brother, Jerry Allard and wife, Anita of Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, F. Keener Wingert; her son, Harold Dean Wingert; and all her siblings. Mrs. Wingert was born in Kansas City, MO. She worked with her husband, who was the founder of K.W. Auto Parts in Albuquerque, with stores also in El Paso, TX. They were considered leaders and pioneers in the auto parts industry.
