Obituary for Berghofer

C. Louis Berghofer was born in Taos Junction, NM on January 11, 1930 to Carl and Winnifred Berghofer. He was raised in Rinconada, NM. A lifelong resident of New Mexico, Louis died peacefully at home October 2, 2001 in Rio Rancho. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Steve Carpenter and wife, Kathy of Corpus Christy, TX, Linda Dilsaver and husband, Ben of Erie, CO; and Rebecca Jones and husband, Brian of Roswell, NM. Ten grandchildren also survive, Danny, Jared, Ethan, Matthew, and Shaeleen Carpenter, Rachel and Mitchell Dilsaver, Kyla, Kendra and Kelsey Jones; and two great-grandchildren; his brother, Carl Berghofer and wife, Faith with children, Carl Jr. and Elaine of Rinconada also survive him. Louis worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish Dept. for 37 years and was extremely dedicated to wild life conservation. During his life he enjoyed square dancing in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, umpiring for little league, and fishing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society of Lovelace Hospice. The Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 19th Ave., Rio Rancho on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Ziecker officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill McAdams, Harold Olson, Jerry Allen, Jim Ross, Charlie Williams and Tom Alderette. Sunrise Society is serving the family (891-8200).
