Arka -- Leona A. Arka, beloved aunt, sister and friend to many, died after a valiant battle with time. She is survived by a sister, Norma Horst of Albuquerque; a niece, Merideth Barroso (Francisco) of Fairfax, VA, a niece, Linda Clawson (David) of Albuquerque, a niece, Kelle Sessions of Nampa, ID; a great-nephew, Chris Clawson (Tina) of Albuquerque, a great-nephew, Jason Clawson of Pasadena, CA; other family members in Chicago and many friends. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 25, 1914 and lived there until she moved to Albuquerque in 1979. She was a gentle soul with a heart of gold who saw the good in everyone. We will all miss her. Arnold -- Henry Arnold, age 79, and a resident of New Mexico for 45 years died Saturday, February 5, 2000 in a local hospital following an illness. Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Jo Arnold of Albuquerque; three sons, Tommy Arnold of San Diego, CA, Michael Arnold of Laguna Beach, CA and David Arnold of Albuquerque. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Ledbetter of Carrollton, TX; two brothers, W.T. Arnold of Las Vegas, NV and Denson Arnold of Farmington, NM; and six grandchildren. Viewing and Visitation will be held Monday, February 7, 2000 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, with Pastor Larry Pierson officiating. Baca -- Gabriel R.W. Baca (C' de Baca), 57, died peacefully at his home in Albuquerque with his family by his side. He was a member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church and was employed by Chavez Concrete. Mr. Baca was a descendant of the Tome' Land Grant through his grandmother, Mary C' de Baca and of the Ojo Del Espiritu Santo Land Grant (Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty, Jemez, NM) through his grandfather, Manuel C' de Baca. He was a loving grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike L. Baca. He is survived by his wife, Ermalinda Baca; his mother, Alice T. Baca; his sons, Gabriel John C' de Baca and wife, Pamela, Fabian Andrew Baca and wife, Veronica; his brothers, Steven Baca and wife, Gabrielle, Michael J. Baca and wife, Helen, Paul M. C' de Baca; his sisters, Rose Ravia, Yolanda Herrera and husband, Jose, Jody M. C' de Baca; four grandchildren, Robert Wyatt Sandoval, Nicole Therese C' de Baca, Cassandra Ellen C' de Baca, Amanda Margaret C' de Baca; seven nieces; three nephews; three great nieces; and one great nephew. Castro -- Aloata Ann Castro, 44, a resident of Albuquerque for two years, died Sunday, January 30, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Mike Castro; children, Raven, age 15, Amanda, age 13, Mikey, age 8 and Alexander, age 7; grandson, Zane, eight weeks; mother, Beth Shustella, all of Albuquerque; sister, Debora Zahn and husband, Warner of Marietta, GA; brother, Frank Shustell, Jr. of Bullard, TX; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank James Shustella. Ann was a loving mother and daughter and will be missed by all who knew her. Davis -- Alice"Clarita" Davis, age 72, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Davis; two daughters, Denise A. King and husband, Warren V. and Karen L. Dillon and husband, Larry A; sister, Margaret Mergen, all of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren, Terra King, Steven King and Marla Dillon. Mrs. Davis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 6, 2000 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Epstein -- Samuel Atkins Epstein, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Friday, February 4, 2000. Sam was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 28, 1917 to Meyer and Kittie Epstein. He grew up in Longmeadow, MA along with his sister, Mildred Epstein Greene. After graduating from high school, Sam went to Swarthmore College where he was very active as a reporter for the college newspaper, the Phoenix and also served as a member of the school newspaper board that wrote articles for papers such as the Philadelphia Inquirer and occasionally the New York Times. One of Sam's fondest memories of this period was the time he helped to host Albert Einstein, who had come to visit the Swarthmore campus. After college, Sam worked as a reporter for a small newspaper in Raritan, NJ. After Peal Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was eventually stationed in Albuquerque where he met Wanda Seligman, a native of Albuquerque and they were married in 1942. After the war and a brief stint of living in Springfield, MA, Sam and Wanda and their new baby, Ralph, moved back to Albuquerque. There, Sam, along with his brother-in-law, Irving Seligman, established the ZIP Potato Chip Company in 1949, and built the first mechanized potato chip factory in New Mexico. Sam sold the business after more than 15 years of successful operation and became a sales representative of the H.D. Lee Company until his retirement. Sam was very active in Congregation Albert, serving as president of the congregation and was an active member and officer of the Temple's Men's Club. Among his great joys was his weekly gin rummy game with a group of close and dear friends for over 40 years. Sam is survived by his children, Ralph Epstein and wife, Pam of San Anselmo, CA, Ellen Abel and husband, Patrick of Albuquerque, Gerald Epstein and wife, Fran Deutsch of Northampton, MA; nephew, Steven Greene of Short Hills, NJ. Sam is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer and Heather Epstein, Matt and Marshall Lammers, Heidi Lammers Wake, Brian and Jeff Abel, Eli Epstein-Deutsch; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alexandra and Elizabeth Garcia; a very close and special friend, and her family. Services will be held at Congregation Albert at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 7, 2000 with Rabbi Joseph Black and Cantor Jacqueline Shuchat-Marx officiating. Fulton -- Catherine Eloise Fulton, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Sunday, January 30, 2000. Eloise was born on August 10, 1914, the daughter of John and Agnes Clinton in Sherman, TX. She was very active in the community. Eloise was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Adah, Chapter #5, Past President of Progress Women's Club, a charter member of Four Hills Country Club, a member of Duke City Bridge Club, and participated in various community activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Fulton in 1983; and brother, Kenneth Clinton of Dallas, TX in 1987. Eloise is survived by her daughter, Carol Beserra and husband, Ronald of Albuquerque; sons, Robert G. Fulton Jr. and wife, Ginger of Bellevue, WA and Kevin Clinton Fulton and wife, Belinda of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Tracey Beserra Derheim and husband, Bruce of Lafayette, CO, Troy Beserra and wife, Melinda of Midland, TX, Bryan Fulton and wife, Hilary of Fairfield, CA, Gary Fulton and wife, Melissa of Bellevue, WA, Dakin Fulton and wife, Lynn of White Fish, MT, Nathan Fulton, and Alex Fulton, both of Bend, OR; great-grandchildren, Garrett Fulton, Emma and Erik Beserra, Brianna Derheim and Cole Fulton. Eloise was a loving mother and grandmother who truly enjoyed living life to its fullest. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Morgan -- Patricia Carol Todd Morgan, born January 26, 1940 to Carlie and Vera West Todd at Olton, Texas, passed away February 2, 2000 at the Las Palomas Nursing and Rehab in Albuquerque. She worked approximately 25 years at the Albuquerque Journal. She is survived by one brother, Walter E. and Janel Todd of Seguin, TX; one sister, Reta and Grayson Moody of Edgewood, TX; two nieces, Kim and Randy Glattfelder of Flagstaff, AZ, Carla and Scott Guthrie of Edgewood, TX; three nephews, Buddy and Debbie Todd of Hopkinsville, KY, Larry and Deborah Moody of Dallas, Michael and Deena Moody of Midlothian, TX; eight great-nieces and four great-nephews. Mullins -- Mary Jane Rouillard Mullins, of 350 White Oaks Dr. NE, died January 26, 2000, in the Kahuku, Hawaii hospital, of massive respiratory failure. Her husband, Joe, was with her when she died. She was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, June 11, 1920. She graduated from a US Army High School in Frankfort, Germany and later attended school in Switzerland, as well as the Sorbonne in Paris. She graduated from Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire in 1952. She was married in 1953. A lifelong activist and feminist, she was involved in the League of Women Voters in Pasadena, California, when her husband was at Caltech in graduate school and later on the faculty. When they relocated to New Jersey, she was active with the League as President of the Monmouth County unit, and as a volunteer with Planned Parenthood. She was also elected to the school board there, was appointed to the County Zoning and Planning Boards, and ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Fair Haven, New Jersey. She was a constant presence in the local schools, working in the elementary library and tutoring French classes. In Albuquerque, she was past President of NARAL/NM Right to Choose, as well as a member of the Board of Directors, and worked as a volunteer at the thrift shop"Choice Stuff". Besides her activity outside the home, she was an avid reader, quilter, and dedicated homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Joe, an emeritus professor at UNM; her two children, Brian of Albuquerque and Kerry of Nashville; and two grandchildren, Teagan and Brianna. An informal memorial gathering is planned for her in Albuquerque at the Albuquerque Marriott from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., February 9, 2000. Friends and family are invited to come and share in the celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, any donations you choose to make to organizations she supported will be appreciated.

Grandma Annie loved her family. Her joy in life was to take excellent care of her beloved husband of 63 years, her four sons, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Grandma Annie was a generous woman that gave the most precious gift of all her time and her love. She was always willing to sacrifice so she could help others. Grandma Annie was a devoted daughter, she helped care for her parents until their deaths. Grandma Annie was a loving wife, sister, aunt, mother, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Quinn -- John F. Quinn, 86, died on February 4, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He belonged to the Carmelites and Knights of Columbus and was a long time and active member of Church of the Risen Savior. Segura of California, William F. Quinn of Albuquerque, James F. Quinn of California, Arthur B. Quinn of Albuquerque, Lawrence A. Quinn and Constance M. Poston, both of Colorado, Catherine F. Arevalo of Albuquerque and Laura F. Stalker of Missouri; a sister, Laura Frances Manktelow of California; and several grandchildren. Raborn -- Gladys S. Raborn, 91, a resident of Manzano del Sol Health Care Center, since October 1993, passed away January 28, 2000. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ford Raborn. Ried -- Neva Beth Ried, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Friday, February 4, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce T. Rogers. Seidel -- Bernard"Bernie" Seidel, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Anne Seidel of Albuquerque; a sister, Florence Schwaber of Baltimore, MD; a nephew, David Schwaber of Baltimore, MD; and a niece, Toba Schwaber of Philadelphia, PA. Bernard had a long career as a hat manufacturer and distributor in New York, before moving to New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. Sena -- Alfonso T. Sena, 74, a lifelong Fort Sumner resident, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at his home in Fort Sumner following an illness. Mr. Sena was born March 9, 1925 in Fort Sumner to the home of Jose C. and Estefanita (Trujillo) Sena. He was reared and attended school at Fort Sumner. Alfonso served with Company G, 17th Infantry, U.S. Army from August 9, 1943 until his honorable discharge on January 9, 1946. His tour included Okinawa, Japan, where he was wounded in action on June 25, 1945. His citations included the Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Following his discharge he served with the U.S. Army National Guard, 502nd Service Battery at Fort Sumner. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard on September 20, 1957. Alfonso married Guadalupe"Lupe" Hernandez on July 29, 1946 in Fort Sumner. He began working with the New Mexico State Highway Department in 1947 until his retirement in 1987. He received numerous citations while working for the Highway Department. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Curry County Chapter 6, a member of the Purple Heart Association, and a lifelong member of St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Reymundo Sena, Olegario Sena, Solomon Sena; two sisters, Aurelia Lucero and Odelia Casaus. Survivors include his wife, Lupe Sena of the family home in Fort Sumner; four daughters, Vivian and husband, Allen Whipple of San Mateo, CA, Josephine and husband, Joe Moreno of Los Lunas, Susan and husband, Frederick Chavez of Albuquerque, Annie Lou and husband, Jesse Gonzales of Houston, TX; six sons, Anthony and wife, Helen Sena of Espanola, Earl and wife, Barbara Sena of Santa Rosa, Guadalupe"Sonny" and wife, Monica Sena of Las Cruces, Lennard and wife, Lucy Sena of Fort Sumner, Clifford Sena and Yvette of Albuquerque, and Michael Sena of Alexandria, VA. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carlos T. Sena, Anastacio T. Sena, Roman T. Sena; and a sister, Alberta Gonzales, all of Fort Sumner. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2000, from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 6, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 7, at St. Anthony Parish with Father Sotero A. Sena, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, with full Military Honors by the New Mexico National Guard. Pallbearers will be Lennard Sena, Michael Sena, Sonny Sena, Earl Sena, Anthony Sena, Clifford Sena, Andrea Sena, Melvin Moreno, Arturo Sena, and Frederick Chavez. Honorary bearers will be Carlos T. Shaw -- Juliette (Deena) Shaw went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2000 after a lengthy illness. Deena was born on May 28, 1953, the daughter of Leo A. and Connie S. Sena Baca in Albuquerque, NM. Deena had worked for Honeywell for the past 15 years. She had been a Quality Control Technician in the Defence Avionics division. She was preceded in death by one brother, James D. Baca in 1990. Deena is survived by her parents, Leo and Connie Baca of Albuquerque; one brother, Nicky D. Spicher -- Charles O. Spicher, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000. He is survived by his son, Russell Spicher and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; and daughter, Brenda Risenhoover and husband, Roger of Wynnewood, OK. He was the grandfather of Amy Risenhoover of Arlington, TX, Carrie Cleaver and husband, Daniel of Tulsa, OK, Kimberly Spicher of Little Rock, AR and Ian Spicher of Albuquerque; and brother, Zellers Spicher and wife, Martha of Ligonier, PA. Mr. Spicher was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Susie D. Spicher on August 19, 1998. Mr. Spicher was born on November 5, 1911 in Ligonier, PA. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and until his retirement in 1956. He participated in the Berlin Airlift. Following his career in the Air Force, Mr. Spicher was with the civil service until retiring in 1970. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the A.F. & A.M. Hiram Lodge #13, the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, and the Scottish Rite of Santa Fe. Services were held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Rev. Starr -- Lloyd P. Starr, passed away early Saturday, February 5, 2000. He was preceded in death by his only daughter, Sharon Morris and left his wife of 59 years, Hazel J. Starr. He leaves one brother; five nephews; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Lloyd was a veteran of WWII. He fought in Germany for two years in battle and in 1946 was awarded the Bronze Star Medal from the U.S. Army. He was a Ham Radio operator and served with A.C.R.A.
