Aringer -- Frederick J. Aringer, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since October of 1998, passed away on Monday, August 16, 1999. Frederick was born April 23, 1930, the son of Frederick and Tessie Magoshegyi Aringer in Bay Shore, New York. Fred had been a cabinet maker, carpenter before retiring. He served in the Army National Guard during the time of the Korean Conflict. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shirley; and one sister, Marian Schafer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Audrey Aringer of Albuquerque; two daughters, Jackie Morin of Albuquerque and Lisa Halleran of Patchoque, NY; one sister, Elizabeth Davis of St. James, NY; two grandchildren, John Melloy and Anthony Callari; one great-grandchild, Kristen Melloy. It has been suggested by the family that memorials may be made to St. Joseph Cardiac Care or have Masses said in Frederick's name. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, 892-9920.

Armijo -- Fred B. Armijo, 74, beloved husband and father, passed away on August 9, 1999. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Mr. Armijo retired from the services industry, where he worked at such landmarks as the Alvarado Hotel and others. He is survived by his wife, Josephine; son, John Armijo of Albuquerque; daughter, Mona (Pat) Timlin of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Christina Romero of Las Vegas, NV, Julianna Nuanes of Albuquerque; grandson, Patrick Timlin Jr. of Phoenix; and great-grandson, Stephen Nieto of Las Vegas. Mr. Armijo is also survived by his brother, Frank Armijo; sisters, Cecilia Armijo, Agnes (Pat) Baca; and several nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., August 19, at Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover Ave. SW, with a Mass at 9:00 a.m. on August 20. Interment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery following the Mass.

Corn -- Arlene Cresswell Corn, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 15, at home in Lockhart, Texas. She was born in Joplin, MO in 1913. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George H. Corn, in 1975; and a sister, Mary Pratt, in 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Georgia George and husband, Don of Lockhart, TX and Arzetta Yates and husband, Tom of Los Lunas. She is also survived by one sister, Johnnita Johnson of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Los Chavez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE, with Funeral services at First Baptist Church of Los Chavez at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, with Boyd Morerod officiating. Final interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Pallbearers will be Chuck George, Galen George, David Yates, J.T. Hayes, Danny Demar, Victor Powell and Rick Yates. Martinez -- Jose S. Martinez, 79, a resident of Bernalillo, went home to the Lord on Sunday, August 15, 1999. Jose was born January 2, 1920, the son of Jose and Margarita Espinosa Martin in San Luis, New Mexico. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, and for the past five years he was a resident of Rio Rancho Nursing Center. Jose served his country in WWII as a marksman. He was in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the American Theater European, African, Middle Eastern Victory Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Jose will be remembered as a good friend, a kind-hearted person, and his love for children. He is survived by Vivian Perez, Miguel and Vincentita Toledo, Olivia Monclova and husband, Lazaro, Ursulita Perez, Loyola Navarro and husband, Damian, Rebecca Molinar and husband, Carlos, Rey Perez and wife, Lynda and their children and grandchildren. The Rosary was recited on Tuesday evening, August 17, 1999, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, August 18, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Mashburn -- Louis"Earl" Mashburn passed away at home in Rio Rancho on Monday morning, August 16, 1999. He was born May 29, 1926 in Ft. Worth, TX. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. Earl retired in 1978 from Chemical Express in Houston, and in 1993, he and his wife moved to Rio Rancho. On January 2, 1998, Mr. Mashburn was preceded in death by Berneice, his beloved wife of 46 years. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Joseph Roos of Rio Rancho; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Danny Walker of Van, TX; grandchildren, Bryan and Cathy Walker, Keith and Anna Walker and Kenny Walker; and great-granddaughters, Jessica and Danielle Walker and Kerstein Walker. Mitchell -- Brevas G."Mitch" Mitchell, 81, a resident of Belen, NM for 37 years, died Sunday, August 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucila O. Mitchell of Belen; son, Raymond Bay Mitchell and wife, Patricia; grandson, Matthew Isaac Mitchell, all of Albuquerque; brother, Paul D. Mitchell and wife, Betty of Petal, MS; sister, Dorothy"Dot" Pickering of Collins, MS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Cockrell; grandson, Daniel Blessing Mitchell; and granddaughter, Sarah Maria Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of World War II, having served aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi during the Pacific Theatre, and retired as Sgt. Major after 21 years of service in the U.S. Marines. After his retirement, he enjoyed a successful career in car sales. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Belen, and the American Legion Post #29 of Albuquerque. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Valley Baptist Church in Rio Communities, with James Alire, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Owen -- Alice S. Owen, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, August 17, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Albert Owen, who served as a New Mexico State Police Officer in the 1950s. She is survived by her son, Lt. Col. Claude S. Owen (Ret.) and wife, Elizabeth of Riverside,CA; daughters, Carole A. Martin and husband, Joseph of Albuquerque and Patricia Boring of Agoura Hills, CA; grandchildren, Claudia Owen, Michael Owen, Jeff Owen, Michael J. Cooke, Laura Marie Galindro, Lisa Michelle Ramirez, Sean Boring and Todd boring; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Owen was active at Central United Methodist Church. Schaffer -- Doris Betty Schaffer died on Friday, August 13, 1999 at the age of 67 from ovarian cancer. Segura -- Julian A. Segura, age 88, passed away August 16, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melisendra Segura; and his daughter, Hazel Segura. He is survived by his three daughters, Reina West and husband, Edward Gene of Tuston, CA, Mary M. Segura of Albuquerque, Theresa E. Miller of Albuquerque; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Julian was an outdoor man and a rodeo cowboy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Segura -- Luis M. Segura, 66, was called to be with the Lord, August 14, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin Segura and Pelagia T. Testman -- John T. Testman, a resident of Albuquerque since 1930, passed away in Taos, New Mexico. He was born October 12, 1905 in Canyon, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Naomi Owens Testman; his second wife, Nell Heard Bibo Testman; his sister, Vega Testman; and a granddaughter, Roberta Garwood Scahill. He is survived by daughters, Theresa T. Garwood of Albuquerque and Svea (Peggy) T. Stevens and husband, William L. of Taos, NM; grandchildren, Billy Garwood and wife, Linda, Ted Garwood and wife, Diane, Richard Stevens and wife, Cydney, Johnny Stevens and fiancee, Patricia Cantrell, and Carin Stevens Anderson and husband, Eric; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-sons, John Heard and Pat and wife, Lorraine. He was a partner in the Huning-Testman Electrical Co. before WWII. His New Mexico National Guard Unit was called to duty in November 1941 and he served until December 1945. He was a charter member of the first Optimists Club formed in Albuquerque in March, 1940, called the Downtown Optimist Club. After WWII, he became a general contractor and constructed many churches, schools and commercial buildings. Later, he and Dub Underwood formed Underwood-Testman Construction Company and were the contractors for the College of Education Complex at the University of New Mexico and The Elks Club Building among many other fine buildings. In 1949, he served as President of the forming committees for what later became the Associated General Contractors and served as the first President of that organization in 1953. He was a member of Temple #6 of the Masonic Lodge which he served as Worshipful Master in 1954, the Scottish Rite Temple and the Shriners Club, served on the Vestry of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, and belonged to several other clubs, including the Toastmasters Club and the Elks Club. The past decade he had alternated living with his daughters. Services will be held Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Whiting -- Funeral services were held for Clifford"Red" Whiting, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Thursday, August 12, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Whiting of Las Vegas, NM; nephew, Robert Ray of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, Christa Carpenter of Queen Creek, AZ, Ruth Vagenas and husband, John of Cherry Valley, CA, Eileen McClinton of Horatio, AR, Rita Craig and husband, Pete, and Penny Ray, both of Phoenix, AZ; close friend, Gerald Johnson of Albuquerque; and companion, Charlie. Mr. Whiting was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie O. Whiting in 1993. He was born in St. Johns, AZ. Mr. Whiting started work in 1929 for the B.I.A. in Fort Defiance, AZ. He retired from the Bureau of Indian Affair Branch of Plant Design and Construction in 1966. After he retired, Mr. Whiting was elected President of the Albuquerque Chapter of National Association Retired Federal Employees and later was elected President of the N.A.R.F.E. State Chapter. Mr. Whiting was the original chairman of the State Commission on Aging and served on the National Council on Aging. He was an administrative assistant to Lt. Governor Roberto Mondragon. Mr. Whiting was an avid genealogist and served as director of the L.D.S. Family History Center, located at 1100 Montano NW. His hobbies included construction and gardening. Mr. Whiting was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services were held Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Montano Chapel, with Bishop Carl Osborn officiating. Pallbearers were Toby Candelaria, Gerald Johnson, Tony Knudsen, Javier Zapata, Carl Osborn and Joe Narvaez. Interment took place at Sunset Memorial Park.
