Obituary for Martinez

Jose S. Martinez, 79, a resident of Bernalillo, went home to the Lord on Sunday, August 15, 1999. Jose was born January 2, 1920, the son of Jose and Margarita Espinosa Martin in San Luis, New Mexico. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, and for the past five years he was a resident of Rio Rancho Nursing Center. Jose served his country in WWII as a marksman. He was in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the American Theater European, African, Middle Eastern Victory Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Jose will be remembered as a good friend, a kind-hearted person, and his love for children. He is survived by Vivian Perez, Miguel and Vincentita Toledo, Olivia Monclova and husband, Lazaro, Ursulita Perez, Loyola Navarro and husband, Damian, Rebecca Molinar and husband, Carlos, Rey Perez and wife, Lynda and their children and grandchildren. The Rosary was recited on Tuesday evening, August 17, 1999, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, August 18, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Military Honors will be presented by the Rio Rancho Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.
