Obituary for Mitchell

Brevas G."Mitch" Mitchell, 81, a resident of Belen, NM for 37 years, died Sunday, August 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucila O. Mitchell of Belen; son, Raymond Bay Mitchell and wife, Patricia; grandson, Matthew Isaac Mitchell, all of Albuquerque; brother, Paul D. Mitchell and wife, Betty of Petal, MS; sister, Dorothy"Dot" Pickering of Collins, MS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Cockrell; grandson, Daniel Blessing Mitchell; and granddaughter, Sarah Maria Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of World War II, having served aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi during the Pacific Theatre, and retired as Sgt. Major after 21 years of service in the U.S. Marines. After his retirement, he enjoyed a successful career in car sales. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Belen, and the American Legion Post #29 of Albuquerque. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Valley Baptist Church in Rio Communities, with James Alire, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
