CROUSE, ROBERT J. Robert J. Crouse passed away peacefully in his Albuquerque home on Jan. 30, 2015. He was 92. Born in 1922 in Marion, Ind., Robert spent his entire youth in the Midwest. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 19, serving as a aviation machinist's mate during World War II. He met the love of his life, Hazel, at a dance hall in Marion, famously driving behind her as she walked home that night, persisting until she agreed to accept a lift. The couple, who married in 1943, raised their five children in Indiana and Maine before an engineering job at Sandia National Laboratories brought Robert and the family to Albuquerque more than 50 years ago. Those who knew Robert rarely found themselves in the company of someone more clever. Well-read and well-traveled, he was always the best "Jeopardy" player in the room. Known for his integrity and fortitude - and an insatiable sweet tooth - he was also incredibly funny. His wit never failed him, even in his final days. Robert liked music and loved a good road trip, but he was never happier than when his home was filled with family, laughter and a delicious dessert. He will be deeply missed. Robert was preceded in death by his eldest son, Donald Crouse; his siblings, Ernest, Gene, Polly and Raymond; and his parents, Errol and Gertrude. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hazel; children, David Crouse and wife Connie; Carolyn Greathouse and husband, Greg; James Crouse; and Linda Dyer; his daughter-in-law, Lupe Crouse; his 12 grandchildren: Marion, Michael, Gary, Jared, Zac, Neil, Andy, Rachel, Jessica, Ryan, Nathan and Stacey; his 19 great-grandchildren; and countless other loved ones. At his request, there will be no funeral service, but the family will honor his life with a small gathering at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

BERRY, MARJORIE ANN Passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, after courageously battling metastatic uveal melanoma. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dennis; her younger son, Kevin, of Prescott, AZ; and her older son, Steven, and his wife, Sarah, and their sons, Matthew and James, all of Sandia Park, NM. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Demy, and sister-in-law, Ferial, of Falls Church, VA and their children, Richard Demy and Victoria Lester. Marjorie was born Marjorie Ann Demy on October 29, 1946, in Harrisburg, PA. In 1967, she became a registered nurse and practiced nursing in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Washington, DC, and Virginia, before she and Dennis moved to California, where Steven was born. From that point on, she dedicated herself to her raising her sons, Steven and later Kevin, by providing a loving and nurturing home environment and by tirelessly supporting the seemingly endless array of activities that engaged the "boys". In 1977, Marjorie and Dennis moved to New Mexico, where Kevin was born and where they have lived for nearly 38 years. Although Marjorie spent most of her time helping others, she managed to squeeze in time to pursue some of her own interests, including lots of reading, sewing and knitting crafts, gourmet cooking, aerobics, and making elaborate scrapbooks of her travels. She even served as an income tax return preparer for a few years. However, Marjorie's true passion was traveling, so it is not surprising that she set foot on all seven continents and visited 90 of the current 193 UN member countries. Her love for animals, in particular, took her to Africa, Costa Rica, the Amazon, and Borneo, and along the way, Marjorie met, became close friends, and repeated trips with numerous traveling companions. Throughout her life, Marjorie was kind, caring, and giving, and she could be counted on to make every day special, particularly celebrations. She will be sorely missed by everyone who has ever known her. According to her wishes, Marjorie will be cremated, and her ashes will be dispersed by her family in several places she especially loved. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Marjorie requested that memorial donations may be made in her name to the World Wildlife Fund, worldwildlife.org. HAVERLAND, CLARENCE LOUIS Clarence Louis Haverland was born March 1, 1925 in Oscar, TX to Emil and Mollie Haverland. His brothers are Emil Jr. (deceased), James (deceased), Ike, Gladys (deceased), Johnny (deceased), and sister Mollie. He is survived by his brother, Ike; sister, Mollie and sister-in-law, Dolores. He has three children, son Michael Louis Haverland and wife Tonya Haverland, daughter Suzanne Audine Haverland (deceased), and daughter Beatrice Bernice Hooper and husband John Hooper. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Shauna Allison and husband Nicholas Allison, Summer Haverland and husband Salvador Espinoza, Jessica Haverland, Halle Haverland, Rebecca Hooper and James Hooper. He is also survived by eleven great- grandchildren, Arielle, Barrett, J.J., David, Mikah, Samuel, Morgan, Eli, Nevaeh, Lilyahna, and Cecilya. He became interested in the subject of Geology as a young boy while in High School. He joined the Navy on August 25, 1942 at 17 years old, serving on the USS Enterprise CV-6, the most decorated ship in World War 2. When he left the Navy in January 1946, he began carpentry work with his brother Ike at Scott White Hospital in Belton, TX. This is where he met his future wife, Betty May Wainwright. It was love at first sight, and having the same birthday they frequently referred to each other by the nickname "Twin" although she was actually about 3 hours older than him. They were married in 1950 and had Michael in 1952, Suzanne in 1955, and Beatrice in 1957. He attended Baylor University for his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, and graduated in May, 1954 while Betty worked as a nurse. He briefly went to work for an oil company in Texas and in 1956, he got a job in Albuquerque working for the US government at the US Soil and Water Conservation department. He worked there for the rest of his career until he retired in 1977. As a geologist, he helped to build many dams but some of his best work were the dams he didn't build. In Happy Valley, Carlsbad, he breeched a dam that would have ruptured during the next strong storm, thus saving the town below. In 1967, his son Michael was going to attend the 50 mile hike in Pecos Wilderness with his Boy Scout troop and Clarence didn't feel satisfied that only men could go on the 50 mile hike so he took his entire family. At the time, boy scouts only gave patches to men, so Clarence signed up his entire family, including his wife and daughters, under only initials ensuring everyone got a patch. His wife Betty, after a stroke following September 11, 2001, was placed in a nursing home for six years. He visited her twice a day, every day, until her death on March 22, 2007. He battled Lymph node Cancer, had a Quadruple Heart Bypass, and had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurism, all of which he beat and came back stronger from. At the time of his passing, he was fighting congestive heart failure. On January 28, 2015, he returned from grocery shopping and after bringing all the groceries inside, he sat down to relax and passed away peacefully. The next morning, when he failed to arrive for morning coffee with his best friend Allyne, she called 911. He was sitting in the living room fully dressed, jacket zipped, gloves in hand and Enterprise hat on head. On March 1 of 2015, he would have been 90 years old. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Clarence lived life to the fullest, is admired and respected by many, loved deeply by many, and passed away peacefully sitting in his favorite chair. Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, 10:00 a.m., also at FRENCH - Wyoming.
