SHIELDS, JUANITA "PENNY" passed away on Jan. 22nd at the grand old age of 94. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Shields of Oregon, James and Sylvia Southerland of California, Bob and Bert Miller of Indiana, her wonderful caretakers at V&L Care, her granddaughter, grandson-in-law, and their children. She was the first woman from Indiana to join the Women's Army Corps in 1942. She moved to Albuquerque in 1955 where she worked at various mortgage companies and was a single mother to two children. Burial will be at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Donations in her name can be made to V & L Care, 1325 Gabaldon Dr. N.W., Albuquerque, New Mexico 87104
