Smith -- Dirk Norman Smith tragically passed from us early Monday, December 23, 2002. Dirk was born and raised here in Albuquerque and attended Valley High School. He was predeceased by his mother, Genevieve Fisher of Albuquerque and is survived by daughters, Katie, 19, and Megan, 8; father, Norman; stepfather, Bill; four brothers; four sisters; and many family members who are grieving but who know Dirk is in a better place by far. Dirk served for nine years in the USAF as an electronics technician. He attended Fruit Ave. Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Valley, and most recently, La Mesa Presbyterian Church. He had an extraordinary singing voice that he used to praise God. Dirk loved his family and bragged often on his daughters. He was blessedly assured that God loved him and died for him. Services will be held Sunday, December 29, 2002, 3:00 p.m. at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper NE. Campos -- Raymond M. Campos, 60, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died Sunday, December 22, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lorine Campos; sons, Ronald D. Campos and Raymond G. Campos and wife, Debbie Lee; grandchildren, Miranda and Bowen Campos, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Samuel Campos and wife, Helen of Georgia, Roy Campos of Carlsbad, Richard Campos and wife, Carol of Albuquerque and Raul Campos of Carlsbad; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Raymond worked for Albuquerque Public Schools for thirty years. He had been active with the little league with his sons. Raymond enjoyed Indy car racing and most all sports. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Edwin Church, 2105 Barcelona Rd. Hernandez -- Mr. Joseph Hernandez, 80, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 23, 2002. Mr. Hernandez is the beloved husband of 53 years to Mrs. Helen Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez is also survived by two daughters, Gloria Quintana and husband Robert, Jennie Romero and Husband Ed; one sister, Vickie Valdez; ten grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Thomas, Robert, Michelle, Joey, Christina, Terrance, Jeremy and Savannah; seven great grandchildren; special friends, Jessie and Debbie Delgado. Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Bustamante. Mr. Hernandez was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S.Army, P.F.C. serving in World War I I in the 62nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion, retired from Sandia Labs after 30 years. Mr. Hernandez was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He was a very loving and caring person and will be dearly missed. A visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final viewing will be Friday morning from 7:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at St. Edwins Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. by Father Bill Sanchez. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be, Terrance Romero, Thomas Bustamante, Joey Quintana, Jeremy Romero, Michael Bustamante and Robert Quintana. Jones -- Billie Arlene Jones, age 77, Billie passed from this life on December 18, 2002. She was born August 20, 1925 in Las Vegas New Mexico and married Charlie T. Jones of Watrous, New Mexico on August 8, 1956. Preceding her in death was husband, Charlie; her parents, Bill and Lena Mertsching; and brother Ralph, all from Las Vegas New Mexico. Growing up in Las Vegas, Billie was very athletic participating in the junior Olympic programs for both winter and summer, in snow skiing and diving, respectfully. She attended the University of New Mexico where she received her B.A in Mathematics. She started a career as a math teacher in the Las Vegas school system. She later attended Highlands University and received her Masters in Mathematics. She went on to teach mathematics in the Albuquerque school district for 33 years. Billie was a devoted wife, loving mother and a dedicated friend, she is deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Billie is survived by her daughter, Barbra and her husband Michael Thomas of Espanola, NM; son, Ralph Jones and his wife, Rebecca; and their daughter, Reagan; and son, Ryon of Argyle, Texas. In lieu of f1owers, donations may be made in her name to the American Liver Foundation, Unity Church, or the charity of your choice. Mccullough -- Eugene McCullough, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, December 21, 2002. He is survived by his wife, of 34 years Sharon McCullough of Albuquerque; sons, Doug McCullough of Phoenix, AZ and Mark McCullough and wife, Regina of Albuquerque; daughter, Kathy McCullough of Tucson, Arizona; step-daughter, Shelley Kearns of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan McCullough of Albuquerque; sister, Merriam Harris of Georgia; brother, Richard McCullough of Florida; mother-in-law, Eunice McKinney of Albuquerque; uncle, John Whiteman and wife, Sybl of Albuquerque; and numerous nephews and nieces. Eugene joined McKinney Motor Co. at the age of 19, working for Bill McKinney until his death in 1967. He then continued working for McKinney Motor Co. as manager for the next 42 years working along with Eunice McKinney. Eugene loved deep sea fishing in Mexico and family outings at Ute Lake where he enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and throwing the ball for his dog, Dusty. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Casias -- Max A. Casias, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 19, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Patricia McKissick-Casias of Albuquerque; his first wife, Ingrid E. Coffin -- Herbert Coffin. Memorial Service for Herbert Coffin, 49, of Ruidoso and formerly of Albuquerque will be Monday, December 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Gateway Church of Christ in Ruidoso. He died Friday, December 20, in Ruidoso. He was born April 29, 1953 at Framingham, Massachusetts. He worked with sales and printing of paper products and was an avid fan of baseball and softball. He is survived by his wife, Karin Coffin; two sons, Gary Coffin and Jason Britt; two daughters, Susan Coffin and Taura Britt; step father, Bill McBride; three sisters, Jennifer Marsh, Michel Mertens and C.J. Lackey -- Billy D. Lackey, 66, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2002, after an inspiring, long fought battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Ann Chao and husband, Leslie, Scott Lackey, and Kay OťNeill and husband Joseph; his grandchildren, Alexander and Garrett Chao, and Joseph OťNeill; his sisters, Bobbie Jean Wilson of Lubbock, TX and Kay Orrell and husband, Jim of Arroyo Grande, CA; his brothers, Wesley Lackey and wife, Janie of Anson, TX and Douglas Lackey and wife, Debbie of Austin, TX; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Billy was born in Borger, Texas on April 20, 1936, to Major and Ruth Lackey. He graduated from Spearman Texas High School and North Texas State University, and then served in the Navy. Bill moved to Albuquerque and worked as an accountant. He started his career with a firm then known as Peat, Marwick and Mitchell, and later became the controller at Public Service Company of New Mexico. Bill chose to volunteer as the Treasurer for numerous non-profit organizations, including Central United Methodist Church and its Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, El Buen Samaritano Day Care Center, and the Girl Scouts of America. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church (including the Partnership Class) and the Sandia Kiwanis Club. Bill was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Lobo football and basketball, the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. He will be remembered as a tremendously loyal husband, father, friend and fan, who generously shared with others his talents and time, and as a man who led his life with the utmost integrity. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 23rd, 11:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper.
