Houghton -- Dorothy Irwin Houghton, 75, a native of Irvington, New York and a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 1999. Following graduation from Irvington High School, Dorothy worked at the Sunnyside Federal Savings and Loan Association. Later, she served as a key administrator in two successful congressional campaigns for US Congressman Peter Peyser. In 1973, following her husband, Joe's retirement from General Motors, they moved to Rio Rancho. During her 26 years in New Mexico, Dorothy was active in the Womens Golf Association at the Rio Rancho Country Club and a dedicated volunteer with the Lovelace Women's Auxiliary. A loving mother and committed family member, she is survived by her brother and two sisters; her four children, Carol of Riverview, MI, Jay of London, England, and Robert and Jeffrey of Dallas, TX; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, April 22, 1999, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with The Rev. Nadobny -- Sidney Joseph Nadobny, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on February 8, 1999. Mr. Nadobny was born in Houghton, MI to Joseph and Michaelina Nadobny on January 23, 1916. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia of the family home; step-son, Michael Carrette of Michigan; step-daughter, Patricia Rumph of Michigan; sisters, Isabel Tranke of Los Lunas and Margaret Amann of Albuquerque; nieces, Pat Gogin of Wisconsin, Kathy Ghawi of Illinois and Mary Ellen Laporte of Wisconsin; nephews, John Paul Kelly of Milwaukee, WI and James Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK; and five step-grandchildren. Mr. Nadobny was a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis Club of Rio Rancho and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mr. Nadobny was a WWII veteran who served in the North African Invasion and served in Italy. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Guy Roberts as Celebrant. Interment will immediately follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. Arrangements under the care of Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 2400 Southern Blvd., 891-9192.

Mueller -- Jimmy Price Mueller, age 53, died late Saturday at his home in Humble, Texas from a massive coronary. Jim was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of school teacher Annie Laurie Lindsay, and German immigrant Harry Herman Price Mueller. Both of his parents preceded him. He graduated from Highland High School, earned his bachelors degree at the University of New Mexico, and his masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while on fellowship. Jim also earned an EED education degree from Harvard that same year. He was a recognized scholar, historian and author in History. While in Albuquerque Jim was an avid sportsman, playing both high school and college ball, and also a short tour on the professional bowling circuit. After graduating, Jim returned to Albuquerque to teach. He opened Eldorado High School on it's first day, then transferred to Sandia High School as an administrator for eleven years. In 1979 Jim signed on with the Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo, Texas, following his Dad's long career there and became a third generation railroader. He worked his way up from territory claims agent to Claims Manager for Louisiana and central and south Texas. Jim was recognized by his peers in 1992 and was presented with the Wellman Award for excellence in claims handling at a national level. Jim met his wife, Lin Houghton through the school system in Albuquerque, and began a blissful twenty-two year honeymoon. Their son Carlton Price was born in Albuquerque, and John Lindsay was born in Amarillo, Texas. Jim was a devoted husband and father, and preferred the company of his family above all else. Most of his free time was spent coaching both sons through various athletic programs. He touched many other young lives in the process. He is survived by his wife and two sons, and cousins from the Milam family in Farmington, New Mexico, his mother-in-law, Shari Houghton of San Antonio, Texas, and many brother and sisters-in-law whom were close to him. Additionally, he leaves behind many system-wide colleagues dear to him, friends from many walks of life and a job that he was totally committed to 150%. He also leaves a legacy of expertise, integrity, and a commitment to his vocation, living life to the fullest, in which no person was a stranger. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 3, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. at the Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 Old Humble Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, Texas 78761-5186.

Sovereign -- Rev. Floyd B. Sovereign died Friday, April 10, in Las Cruces, NM. He was born in Buffalo, NY, the son of Freeman Floyd Sovereign and Carrie Adeline Bradley. He graduated from Lafayette High School and received his B.A. from Houghton College. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. In 1944, he married Marie Fearing. He was Pastor of Calvary Evangelical Church in Rochester, NY for three years. He then served the Presbyterian Church in Brazil as an Itinerant Evangelist for nine years, during which time he supervised the building of a church in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. For three years, he taught church history and comparative religions and served as Dean of students in the Presbyterian Seminary of Campinas in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. From 1963-1974, he was the full-time Chaplain at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque and served as Interim Pastor at various churches in the Albuquerque area. From 1974 until his retirement in 1984, he was Pastor of Westkirk United Presbyterian Church in Pompano Beach, FL. He was skilled at woodworking and was known for playing the musical saw. Pastor Sovereign is survived by his wife, Marie Sovereign; daughter, Elizabeth Anderson and her husband, Dale of Evergreen, CO; son, Paul Arthur Sovereign and his wife, Cathy of Albuquerque; son, David Bradley Sovereign of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Amy Erbele of Raleigh, NC. A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium of University Terrace Good Samaritan Village of Las Cruces, NM.
