Obituary for Houghton

Dorothy Irwin Houghton, 75, a native of Irvington, New York and a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 1999. Following graduation from Irvington High School, Dorothy worked at the Sunnyside Federal Savings and Loan Association. Later, she served as a key administrator in two successful congressional campaigns for US Congressman Peter Peyser. In 1973, following her husband, Joe's retirement from General Motors, they moved to Rio Rancho. During her 26 years in New Mexico, Dorothy was active in the Womens Golf Association at the Rio Rancho Country Club and a dedicated volunteer with the Lovelace Women's Auxiliary. A loving mother and committed family member, she is survived by her brother and two sisters; her four children, Carol of Riverview, MI, Jay of London, England, and Robert and Jeffrey of Dallas, TX; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, April 22, 1999, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with The Rev.
