Lepisto -- Susan D. Lepisto, 61, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, passed away Fiday, January 10, 2003. She was a loving wife, mother and especially loving grandmother. Susan loved golf and was very active in the WGA at Four Hills Country Club, having been a past president of that organization. She was preceded in death by her father, John Winchell, and son Jon Farley. Susan is survived by her husband, Bob; her mother, Bette Pratte; her daughter, Jayme Nelson and husband, Jim, daughter-in-law, Eve Landstrom; step-sons, Troy Lepisto and wife, Kristin and Todd Lepisto and wife, Louisa; brothers-in-law, Martin Lepisto and wife, Janice of Palm Desert and Carl Lepisto and wife, Eileen of Grand Junction. Grandchildren, Kendall Landstrom, Stephanie, Cassandra, Taylor and Madison Nelson, Nathaniel and Quintin Lepisto. Cremation has occurred and services will be held Thursday, January 16, 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna NE, Albuquerque, NM. Lente -- Mr. Stanley F. Lente, 50, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 4, 2003. Mr. Lente was preceded in death by his father, Santiago Lente (1979). Mr. Lente is survived by two sons, Lawrence Lente and fiance, J'Shon, and Phillip Riley; one daughter, Tanya Francisco; mother, Mabel Lente; companion, Sandy; six sisters, Sandra J. Fletcher and husband, Charles, Viola S. Lente, Tina Candelaria and husband, Leo, Sonia B. Lente, Shannon D. Lente, and Shirley Stoner and husband, Glen; three brothers, Sandy Bowers and wife, Julie, Lawrence Bowers and wife, Shiela, and Ernest Pino and wife, Christine; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends. A visitation for Mr. Lente will be Tuesday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation for Mr. Lente will be Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Paguate, NM, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Paguate Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest Pino, Lawrence Lente, Sandy Bowers, Larry Bowers, CharlES Fletcher, and Leo Candelaria. Jay -- Miriam S. Jay, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, passed away on December 30, 2002. She is survived by her 2 sons, John C. Jay and wife, Edana of Albuquerque and W. Walton Jay of Groton, CT; grandchildren, Keith C. Jay stationed in San Angelo, TX, Seth R. Jay of Albuquerque, Will Jay of Orlando, FL and Michael Jay of Groton, CT; sister, Jeanette Martin of Tampa, FL. Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years, William ťBillť Jay, 3 sisters and 1 brother. She is an alumnus of both Florida State University and The University of Georgia. Miriam was a charter member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Tallahassee. From 1954 until 1991 she resided in Tallahassee, FL. Prior to being a librarian at Timberlane Elementary School, she worked for the Leon County Public Library. Kuerschner -- Martha Katharina Kuerschner (born Trippel), 88, of Des Montes, devoted and loving mother and wife, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on December 31, 2002. She was born on May 12, 1914, in Hanau, Germany to Katharina and Wilhelm Trippel. Her brother Wilhelm Erich (WWII) and her parents, as well as her husband Helmut A. Kuerschner, preceded her in death. She worked as a social worker and nurse in the greater Gross-Gerau/Dieburg area in Germany, servicing many smaller villages by bicycle, including Sickenhoffen, where her mother's family lived for countless generations. In 1948, together with her three children, she joined her husband in the U.S. where he was working on the early missile program (later to become NASA) for the U.S. military with other German scientists under Werner Von Braun. She gave generously of her nursing skills to friends with cancer, nursing them either in their homes, or at times in her own, during her nursing career in the United States. She enjoyed gardening, camping, sewing, knitting and rug-making, and made sure that her son had an opportunity at American baseball as a young boy. She had an enormous love and appreciation for her adopted country. Grandchildren remember her for her traditional qualities, including knitted clothing as children and countless care packages while at college. She is survived by her three children, Waltraud I. Kuerschner-Burton and husband Grady Burton of Talpa, Erich Kuerschner of Des Montes, and Christa Rodriguez and husband Rick of Meeker, Colorado, and nine grandchildren: Allegra Heidelinde, Ariana Kramer, and Ilse Burton-Caroline MacLaren (Colin), Anna Dvortcsak (Alex), Vivian Kuerschner and their mother Suzanne Kuerschner-Carla Rodriguez, Steve Rodriguez (Holly), and Chad Rodriguez (Suzette), and two great-granddaughters, Ellison Rodriguez and Anna Rodriguez. Surviving German relatives include her two cousins, Hilde Sauerwein and Martha Hagedorn, Erna Hallfarth, nephew Klaus Kuerschner and wife Barbara, their son Martin Kuerschner (Alexandra) and his daughter, Anastasia, niece Inge Laux (Stefan), Dieter Kuerschner & family (Fuerth), Erika Liebetrau & family (Thueringen), as well as many others. The family wishes to extend special thanks to many local health providers, including Dr. White, Morley Anderson, the nurses at Mountain Home Healthcare, her loving caregivers, Grace and Frances Olguin, Astrid Nemer, as well as Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home. There will be a memorial gathering at Martha's home on Sunday, January 12, from 12-4 p.m. for anyone interested in participating (for directions call 776-5970 or 758-0473. In lieu of flowers please contribute in some fashion to CAV, CASA, Mountain Home Healthcare, a cancer organization, or any other community organization of your choice.
