MILLER -- Marjorie Ann (Smith) Miller, born June 30, 1933, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Wylie, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Miller and daughter, Ginny Miller; her parents M.W. "Chisel" Smith & Mary Iola "Jerry" Smith; and brother-in-law, Mitch Sinks. Born and raised in Albuquerque, she attended St. Vincent Academy, then went on to Stephens College to study music. She returned to Albuquerque to finish school at the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and where she met her husband Louie. They raised their two daughters, Katie and Ginny, in Lee Acres and were active in the National Arabian Horse Association. Marj also enjoyed being a part of the Albuquerque Junior League and the New Mexico Symphony. In 1999, she moved to Texas, to be close to her children. She is survived by her daughter Katie Benedict with husband Richard of Lavon, TX, and granddaughter, Amanda Prouty with husband Chris, plus her most beloved great-grandsons, Brendyn, Caleb and Zachary Prouty, all of Wylie, TX; as well as her sister, Judi K. Sinks and nephew, Steven J Westman, both of Albuquerque, NM She loved her family, as well as her friends, her music and Thursday mornings at the Beauty Shop. Per her request there will be a cremation and no service. The family will gather in the Sandia Mountains this summer for a private remembrance. In lieu of flowers she would have preferred contributions to be made to a charitable organization of your choosing. She will be missed, but her songs and stories will continue in our hearts. ARAGON -- Brittany Renay Aragon, age 19, went home on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, and now is resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord. In 2008 our BRAT was diagnosed with cancer four months prior to graduating from Valley High School, and is remembered for her love of family, friends' texts, e-mails and The Raiders. Brittany's sudden passing leaves many loving family members and friends deeply saddened. Brittany is survived by her father, Chris Aragon and his wife Carmen, her mother Bernadette Garcia, and daddy Charles Torrez, Jr.; one brother Charles Torrez, III, four sisters Tatiana, Angelique, Andreah, and Nestorita Aragon; grandparents Cristy Gutierrez, Leo and JoAnn Martinez and Charles Torrez, Sr.; great-grandmother Sylvia Garcia; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; godson, Jonah Garcia; and very dear friend, Jamie James. Visitation is scheduled to be at Daniels Family Funeral Services Alameda Mortuary, at Fourth & Alameda on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 9 a.m., also at the Nativity. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. CAMPBELL -- Ruth Creighton Campbell died peacefully on June 4, 2009 at the Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque, New Mexico surrounded by her children, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. She was born 95 years ago on May 22, 1914 in Bakersfield, California and spent her childhood in China with her missionary parents and her four siblings. She began drawing at the age of two and never stopped. She attended Shanghai American School for a year; came home to the US at age 14; finished high school in Wooster, Ohio (1930); graduated from the College of Wooster with a BA in History (1934); and earned an art degree in illustration at the Cleveland Institute of Art (1938). She designed handkerchiefs in New York and taught art at Sophie Newcombe College in New Orleans. Returning to New York, she married Charles Campbell in 1940, and raised three children in Monmouth Hills, New Jersey. While her children were small she did art as a volunteer for non-profit organizations. Her work impressed a neighbor who hired her as art director in his new ad agency. For 35 years she produced memorable and award-winning print ads, catalogues and mailers for many businesses. Since the 1950's she continued to study painting and showed and sold her work. She opened and managed a fine art gallery in Red Bank, New Jersey with a few colleagues. Advertising remained her major endeavor, her primary source of income, and her passion. In 1996 she retired to Albuquerque, continuing to make, sell and talk art. For the past seven years she lived at La Vida Llena retirement community. A Memorial Service will be held there on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Nancy Kane of Chatham NY, Bill Campbell of River Falls WI, John Campbell of Tokyo, Japan, their spouses; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; her dear friends Joanie and KC Orth and their children; and good friends at La Vida Llena.

CHAVEZ -- Rudolfo Pedro, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009. Rudolfo is survived by his loving wife Ermerlinda Chavez; one son Louis Chavez his wife Liz; four daughters, Vivian Plakio and husband Charles, Anna Carrillo and husband John, Laura Parras and husband Eddie, Sistine Jaramillo and husband David Garcia; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers, in addition to a number nieces, nephews and family members. Rudulfo worked for VA Hospital for 31 years and Garcia's Funeral home for 9 years; he was also a US Army Veteran and was a member of the FOE, where he lobbied for money for the Cancer Reseach Center in Albuquerque, and the Special Olympics. A Visitation for Mr. Chavez will be from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in the 8th Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 9:00 am also at Sacred Heart. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Gabe Plakio, Lorenzo Chavez, Jonothan Chavez, Mikey Martinez, Brandon Parras, and Jerome Martinez. DEMOSS -- Charles W. DeMoss, age 85, and a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, June 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Bob (and wife Ellen) and John, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Jude of Rio Rancho; four grandsons, Mike Ely (and wife Kristin), Ryan Ely (and wife Kim), Pat DeMoss (and wife Rebecca) and Thomas DeMoss all of Albuquerque, and five great granddaughters, Marissa, Breanna, Katie, Lillie and Violet. He is also survived by two brothers, Jesse of Indiana and Hugh of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Charles joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940 doing archeological work along the Tennessee River. During World War II, he joined the Navy and served three and a half years in the Pacific. His ship was on the way to invade Japan when the war ended. Charles joined the Masonic Lodge and was a member of Lexington (Ky) Lodge #1. He moved to Albuquerque in 1959 and was employed by Sandia National Labs as a scientific glass-blower. Charles retired in 1980 after 20 years service. In his home shop, he made glass novelties and entered them in the NM Arts and Crafts Fair. After retirement, Charles enjoyed traveling and recreation with family and friends. He was an active member of First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and teacher. Visitation and Services will be held at First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, located at 812 Fruit Avenue NW, 8th and Fruit NW. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:00am. SCOTT -- Wilbur Lee The Life of Wilber Lee Scott Wilber Lee Scott, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the age of 89. Lee was born in Yuba City, California in 1919. Lee was one of four children born to Arthur and Bessie Scott of Yuba City. Lee's siblings were Joyce, Wayne and Carol. Lee and all of his siblings attended college with the help of their parents. Lee attended the College of the Pacific and graduated from San Jose State University. Lee had a great love for music and mastered several instruments. Lee played the bassoon with a symphony band and he also played piano while in the Army with the Doc Severinsen Dance Band. Lee joined the military during World War II and was stationed in northern California, and Tacoma, WA. Following his military service, Lee met his bride-to-be, Phyllis Scott. Lee and Phyllis were married on December 27, 1947 to begin a life journey together of 62 years. Following their marriage Lee had continued with music but soon became aware that music was to become a lifelong hobby but not the source of income to provide for his family. Lee then began a career in sales and marketing. His career including work with companies such as Sherman and Clay, Armour and Company, Young and Rubican, Charles Ilfeld Company, and Stokely Van Camp. Lee attained the position in Stokely Van Camp as Sales Director for the Western half of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Over the course of his career, Lee received many awards for outstanding service. Lee will be long remembered for his involvement in several organizations and volunteer activities. He was a member of the Lions Club, The Scottish Society and the Optimist Club. He served as president of both the Scottish Society and the Optimist Club. Lee was a member of the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. Lee was a faithful volunteer for the Rio Grande Food Project. He was a docent for the Natural History Museum in Albuquerque and a docent for Las Golondrinas. Lee had also served as a Cub Scout master and he continued to share his music with various organizations, including playing for nursing home residents. Lee and Phyllis were winners of the 2003 Presbyterian Successful Aging Contest as a result of their many volunteer activities and interests. Lee was an avid reader and had a particular affinity for poetry. Additionally, he was a crossword puzzle fan. He continued to love travel. Lee was also involved in creating beautiful stained glass projects as can be seen in his home. Lee's list of friends and loved ones are too numerous to count. His positive nature immediately captivated anyone who met him. He was truly an optimist. His jokes and puns were numerous and his stories sharing his experiences were always entertaining. His spirit of giving is exemplified by his final bequest. He has chosen to leave his body to the University of New Mexico Medical School for the purpose of scientific study and advancement. Lee will be missed by all those who encountered him during his journey through life. The union of Lee and Phyllis produced four children: John Arthur Scott of Frisco, Texas who is married to Janet Scott, Elsa Carolyn Taylor presently teaching in India, Nancy Lee Gordy and Joseph Parbery Scott. Lee leaves behind five grandchildren: Elizabeth Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Michelle Meyers married to Haines Meyers, Pierce Scott and Vaughn Scott. Tate Meyers is his one great-grandchild. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings and his daughter Nancy. There will be a service to celebrate Lee's life on Thursday, June 10, 2009, 11:00 am, at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church (600 Coors Blvd. NW) with the Rev. Linda Roberts-Baca, officiating. A lunch reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rio Grande Presbyterian Church or charity of their choice.
