MILLER -- Marjorie Ann (Smith) Miller, born June 30, 1933, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Wylie, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Miller and daughter, Ginny Miller; her parents M.W. "Chisel" Smith & Mary Iola "Jerry" Smith; and brother-in-law, Mitch Sinks. Born and raised in Albuquerque, she attended St. Vincent Academy, then went on to Stephens College to study music. She returned to Albuquerque to finish school at the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and where she met her husband Louie. They raised their two daughters, Katie and Ginny, in Lee Acres and were active in the National Arabian Horse Association. Marj also enjoyed being a part of the Albuquerque Junior League and the New Mexico Symphony. In 1999, she moved to Texas, to be close to her children. She is survived by her daughter Katie Benedict with husband Richard of Lavon, TX, and granddaughter, Amanda Prouty with husband Chris, plus her most beloved great-grandsons, Brendyn, Caleb and Zachary Prouty, all of Wylie, TX; as well as her sister, Judi K. Sinks and nephew, Steven J Westman, both of Albuquerque, NM She loved her family, as well as her friends, her music and Thursday mornings at the Beauty Shop. Per her request there will be a cremation and no service. The family will gather in the Sandia Mountains this summer for a private remembrance. In lieu of flowers she would have preferred contributions to be made to a charitable organization of your choosing. She will be missed, but her songs and stories will continue in our hearts.
