DUNIVAN -- George R. Dunivan, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Thursday, June 3, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Donna of the family home; his son, Michael Dunivan and wife, Rosemary; his daughter, Margaret Ann Dunivan; six grandchildren Todd Dunivan and wife, Kimberly, Stacy Stone and husband, Robert; Kevin Dunivan and wife, Gena; Connie Wattenburger, Brad Wattenburger; great-grandchildren, Alex Dunivan, Aaron Dunivan, Kayte Dunivan, Amanda Stone and Clayton Wattenburger. George was a retired executive of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butchers Workmen of North America. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. George was a lifetime member of the Elks Club #461, TTO Train and other numerous organizations. He was awarded the J. B. McCoy Labor Award, Histadrut Perpetual Award, Outstanding Citizen Award in Missouri and New Mexico and Colonel Aide de Camp for the state of New Mexico. JOHNSTONE -- Bernetta Isbell Johnstone, born June 7, 1913 in Tatum, New Mexico, died May 30, 2004 in Denver, Colorado. Bernetta grew up in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas. She earned an associate's degree from Wayland Baptist College in 1932, a B.A from Mary Hardin Baylor and Master's from Texas Tech. In 1936, she served as acting registrar at Wayland. For the next three years, she taught in the Business Administration division. In WWII, she enlisted in the Navy, becoming one of the first women officers in the Waves. She served in Washington D.C. writing and editing training manuals for the "Seabees." In 1944, she married Don Johnstone. For almost 50 years, she lived in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a teacher at Harwood Girls School, and was active in 4-H leadership, AAUW, Soroptimist International, and the Pan American Round Table. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. She is survived by seven children; and 15 grandchildren. Children are James Johnstone, Washington D.C; Robert Johnstone, Palo Alto; Will Johnstone, Denver; Donna Bearden, Rowlett, TX; Barbara Johnstone, Seattle; Richard Johnstone, Minneapolis; and Marji Johnstone, Gjovik, Norway. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.

BURNS -- Polly Myrtle Sanders Burns, wife, mother, super grandma and almost great-grandma - born February 17, 1928. She passed away suddenly June 2, 2004. Polly is survived by her husband, Lyle; daughter, Beverly Kalmes husband, Peter and children, Missy Maguire, Katie Maguire and Peter Kalmes III; daughter, Brenda Schauer husband, Kent and children, T.J. Divett and wife, Brittany, Jared Divett, Sarah Divett and Sam Divett; son, Lyle Burns, Jr. wife, Sara and children, Celena Jensen and husband, Kenny, Dillon Burns, Vaughn Burns and Ben Schertz. She is also survived by her brothers, Earl Sanders and wife, Joan, Robert Pocus and wife, Thelma; sister, Donna Johnson, all of Tennessee; and her special sister, Eve Garoutte and husband, Ted. Our grandma, Polly, will be missed dearly for her incredible generosity, sense of humor and the love that she shared with her very extended family. We will celebrate her passion, energy and creativity at a service Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Polly's grandchildren. CHAVEZ -- Tony Chavez, 67, a Belen resident, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 31, 2004. Tony was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. Tony loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing his faith with others. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Adelina Chavez, his brother, Gilbert and sister, Victoria. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; his children and step children, Judy Sanchez and husband Pablo, Patricia Harper and husband Joe, Vicky Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Barbara Carrillo and husband Lorenzo, Jacqueline Swift and husband Craig, and Donna Rendon and husband Randy. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Bobby Sanchez, Anthony Sanchez, Melissa Harper, Kathleen Harper, Rhiannon Chavez, Stephanie Chavez, Lori Carrillo, Jenessa Carrillo, Kevin Carrillo, Nicholas Rendon, Rebekah Rendon and Sophia Rendon; one great- grandchild, Bobby Benito Sanchez, Jr.; his brothers; Robert Chavez and wife Rita, Greg Chavez, Mel Chavez and wife Kathy, Richard Chavez and Johnny Chavez; sisters, Helen Velarde and husband Gene, Mabel Baca and Pete Pieri, Viola Chavez and husband Fred, Mary Romero, Elena Maez and husband Horacio, Tina Garcia and husband Daniel; brother-in-law, Gilbert Trujillo; sister-in-law, Patricia and husband Sammy, and Dolores Munsell and many loving nieces and nephews. LOPEZ -- Mr. Ernest Jerry Lopez, 69, born in California and raised in Los Lentes, New Mexico, a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and best friend in the world to many was placed in the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. Mr. Lopez is the beloved father to Henry Lopez and wife, Jeanette, Ben Lopez and wife, Alice, Janet Micaletti, Beverly Barela and husband, Marvin, Veronica Benda and husband, Sonny, Geraldine Aragon and husband, Joseph, David Lopez and wife, Gail, Little Zamora and husband, Michael Finn, Isabel Crieth and husband, Kevin, Leonella ( Leo ) Martinez, Adolph Lopez and wife, Kathleen; one step daughter, Tammy Nalder; his beloved friend and ex-wife, Rosemary Lopez; 32 grandchildren, Adrieanne and husband, Julian, Eileen, Nanci, Cynthia, Donna, Lesley, Michael and wife, Angela, Joseph, David Rick and wife, Heather, Desiree and husband, Gilbert, Amanda, Steven, Tamara, Kelly, Tiffany, Finney, Erin, Katie, Lacey, K.C., Hailey, Sarina, Antone, Armani, Zachari, Ayla, Cheyanne and James; 12 great grandchildren, Julian, Jerome, Ariel, Deija, Tashi, Naomi, Ryan, Faith, Ethan, Xandor, Samantha and Monique; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his best friend his dog, Toss Lopez. Mr. Lopez was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Lopez was well known for his expertise in the plating business where he practiced this craft and lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past 18 years. Jerry graduated from Los Lunas High School in 1953 where he participated in various sports and was the state shot put champion. Jerry always graciously opened his house and heart to all family and friends his residence in Las Vegas. He returned home to Los Lentes to spend his final days with all his family members. A Rosary was recited at San Clemente Catholic Church on Friday evening by Rosemary Lopez. A final visitation will be Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the San Antonio Catholic Church, corner of Los Lentes and Trujillo Rd. in Los Lunas, with a Funeral Service to be held at 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Los Lentes Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Michael Barela, Joseph Barela, David Rick Modisette, Michael Finny Zamora, Steven Aragon, Antone Martinez, Armani Lopez and Kelly Ray Lopez. MOEGERLE -- James "Jim" B. Moegerle, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, May 20, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Moegerle; daughter, Donna Eidenmiller and husband, Ed; granddaughter, Dodi and husband Sam; two great grandsons, Jesse and Dakota. Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Renee Eidenmiller in 2001. Jim was born and raised in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania where he worked in a steel mill. After retiring 20 years ago, he moved to Albuquerque. Jim enjoyed many things but was an avid sports fan. Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at a later date.
