LUNA -- MANUELA. Mrs. Manuela Luna, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 6, 2005. Mrs. Luna is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Mr. Salomon Luna; three daughters, Maria Guzman and husband, David, Jolyn Murphy and husband, Patrick, Debra Marthe and husband, Mike; seven grandchildren, Daniel Guzman, Alicia Ortega, Michael Marthe, Jocelyn Marthe, Kathryn Murphy, Christian Murphy, and Isabella Murphy; Mrs. Luna was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Anthony Guzman. Mrs. Luna is also survived by her four sisters, Elva Rhodes, Edelmira Tomlinson and husband Frank, Elidia Nichols and Delma Dominguez; two brothers, Armando Dominguez and wife, Aurelia and Armin Dominguez and wife, Bernice; sisters-in-law, Terry Luna, Viola Luna, Irene Luna, Alice Luna, Amy Lucero and husband, Boni; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Luna and wife, Okie, Ernest Luna and wife, Erlinda and Napoleon Sisneros; special niece, Pablita Chavez; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Luna was also preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Catalina Dominguez; in-laws, Mariano and Francisca Luna; brothers-in-law, Marcelino Luna, Vidal Luna, Mariano Luna, George Luna; sisters-in-law, Josefa Sisneros, and Lugarda Saiz. Mrs. Luna was a member of the Catholic Church, a kindergarden teacher for 29 years for A.P.S. and worked for the state of New Mexico in District Court. A visitation will be Wednesday evening at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Terry Luna. Final visitation will be Thursday morning at Santuario de San Martin from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of the Ressurection to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father James Vance. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Guzman, Daniel Guzman, Patrick Murphy, Mike Marthe, Michael Marthe, and Charles Luna. Chema is preceded in death by her father, Victoriano Rodriguez. She leaves behind brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Chema was a very devoted mother, wife, and daughter. She always put her family first. Chema was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited on November 7 and November 8, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary , Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. MCKENZIE -- Shan O'Shea McKenzie May 9, 1948 - October 30, 2005 Shan O'Shea McKenzie, 57, of Mesa, AZ passed away from this life into eternal life on Sunday, October 30, 2005. He was born May 9, 1948 to Paul and Ila McKenzie in Albuquerque, NM. He grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Rio Grande High School. He also graduated from New Mexico State College in Las Cruces, NM. He married Shirley McKenzie in September 12, 1968. Together they had four loving children; Shanna, Cindy, Tonia, and Joe. He moved his family to Farmington from Albuquerque in 1976. There he worked at the power plants and as a rig welder. While living in Farmington raising his family he loved to coach. He was a YAFL football coach even before his own son was old enough to play the sport. He also loved to coach fast pitch softball. He liked the sport so much and was so involved that he became the president for a term. Shan touched many people through his coaching. Shan loved his family more than anything. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids. He loved to spend time with them and play with them. He loved them more than words can ever express! He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was able to make many people smile no matter what their mood was. While living in Farmington he had made many great friends. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley McKenzie of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Shanna Jeffris of Pampa, TX, Cindy McKenzie of Mesa, AZ, Tonia Watkins and husband, Eddy of Bloomfield, NM, and Joe McKenzie and wife Cherie of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Chris McKenzie, Spencer McKenzie, and Ali McKenzie of Gilbert, AZ, Tyler Unsell of Mesa, AZ, Ripp Watkins, Breanna Watkins, and Chad Watkins of Bloomfield, NM, and Kenzie Jeffris of Pampa, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. McKenzie and mother, Ila E. McKenzie. The viewing was from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Vista Verde Memorial Home in Albuquerque, NM, and the Rosary was at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass was held Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho, NM with Father Steven. Graveside Services were held at Sandia Memory Gardens in Albuquerque, NM following Mass. Shan is in care with Lakeshore Mortuary in Mesa, AZ and Vista Verde Memorial Home in Albuquerque, NM. God saw you were getting tired. A cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes, We watched you suffer, And saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating; Hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us - He only takes the best.

BYRNES -- Mary Victoria "Honey" Byrnes, 101, passed away Friday October 14, 2005 at the Laurel Canyon Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque after breaking her hip in August. She received excellent care from the people who worked with her. Her family greatly appreciates the professional care and effort the staff gave her while she was there. She was born November 5, 1903 to E.J. Tschann and Elizabeth Ann Byrnes in Missouri. She grew up in Little Rock, AK attending school at St. Mary's Academy Boarding School. After marrying in 1926 she moved to Altadena, CA where her daughter Mary Ann was born, and then moved to Fullerton, CA where her son, Roger was born. Shortly after coming to New Mexico in 1940, she found herself a single mother, having to take care of her children, as well as her aging mother by herself. Despite the financial and personal difficulties that she faced, she always found a way to take care of her family. She owned and operated the Knotty Pine Cafe on west Central, and also ran several motels including the Capri Motel for in downtown Albuquerque. Most recently she managed the Green Acres Mobile Home Village on North Second Street from May 1979 until May 1992. She lived a very full and independent life, keeping her own apartment until she finally relented and moved in with her daughter, Mary Ann in 2001 at the age of 98. The magnitude of her life can be seen through the four generations of family that followed her. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, E.J. and Elizabeth Tschann; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Dorothy Tschann; and her son-in-law, Fred Gross. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Gross; grandsons, Roger Paul Gross and wife, Gena; and great-grandchildren, Kimberley Lynn, Jason Paul; and great-granddaughters, Alexis and Paris; grandson, Stephen Gross and good friend, Mary Lynn and daughter, Hannah; son, Roger Byrnes and wife, Pat; grandchildren, Judy, Tim, Jeanne Marie of Gilbert AZ, Joy Ellen; and great-grandchildren, Trevor and Forest; grandson Michael and wife, Krissi of Phoenix AZ, and grandson Sean Of Norfolk VA; nephew Edward Tschann and wife, Mary. She left behind four generations; two children, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. The orneriest saints that God ever put on this earth is finally at rest. May God bless her and let her enjoy the peace she so richly deserves. The family asks that in lieu of flowers do something nice for another person. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening November 4, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of Sunrise. PADILLA -- Thomas Padilla, Jr. has gone home to be with our Lord after losing his battle with a long-term illness. Tom was born on January 28, 1925 and raised in Albuquerque, in the old Saw Mill area with his deceased parents Josephine and Thomas Padilla, Sr. At his bedside was his family, wife, Grace Padilla; three loving children, daughter, Thomasine Montoya, husband, Herman Montoya and two grandsons, Rafael and Nicholas Montoya; son-Martin Padilla; and daughter-Lorraine Ruggles and husband, John Ruggles and grandson, John Wayne Ruggles. He is also survived by his sisters, Genevieve Santiago, Connie Simoes and husband, Tony Simoes; Peaches Martinez (deceased) and husband, Gilbert Martinez; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was a decorated Marine serving in WW II and the Korean War. He was a retired ironworker, honorary member of the Ironworkers Union, mentor for many apprentices & ironworkers, former member of the Albuquerque Elks and lifetime member of the VFW. Tom loved people and will always be remembered for his great stories and many accomplishments that are exhibited in New Mexico. He loved to make and give away his metal figurines, especially his fishermen. Pallbearers are his three grandsons: Rafael, Nicholas and John Wayne; four godsons: Paul Gurule, Steven Mirabal, Louis Santiago and Cecil Soto; Nephew: Larry Martinez and Dale Anaya. GALLEGOS -- Julia Gallegos has been called home to be with the Lord after a long illness. Julia was born on Feb 9, 1933 to Salomon and Candaleria Herrera. She is survived by her three sons, Fred Gallegos, Charles Gallegos and Jerry Gallegos and his wife, Susan. She also leaves four grandchildren, Jesse, Magdalene, Keirsten, Christopher and his wife, Jeanine Gallegos, and one great-grandson Anthony Gallegos; her beloved brother, Paul and wife, Ruby Herrera. Julia was a loving aunt to twelve nieces and nephews.
