He was born July 26, 1917, in Kansas City, MO to Noreen Cunningham McMullan (d. 1976) of Atchison, KS and John J. McMullan (d. 1919 of pandemic influenza), a naturalized citizen from Lorne-County Atrim, Northern Ireland. He met his wife of 63 years while attending UNM. Following his military service and discharge and following 18 months of hospitalization from tuberculosis, they settled in Albuquerque where he entered the real estate business with Anderman and Glasebrook. Over the next 60 years of active involvement in the real estate business, he developed and built more than 700 homes, 900 apartment units and numerous office and industrial buildings throughout Albuquerque. He handled the sale of the land which is presently Coronado Center to Bellamah Corporation in 1956. Subsequently he was elected President of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors in 1965. In 1966, he was named Realtor of the Year in Albuquerque. In 1995, he was the recipient of the "C.O.
