CHAVEZ -- Adela Chavez was born November 1, 1909 to Salvador and Maria Griego in Punta de Agua, NM. She was surrounded by all of her children at the hour of her death when the Lord called her home, Tuesday, January 3, 2006. Our beloved mother's life was a constant prayer day and night. Adela was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. She was also very involved with the Blue Army, Legion of Mary, the prayer Our Lady of Guadalupe, and our mother served in the Eucharistic League. Our mother's married life with her husband, Amado Chavez, was spent in Mountainair, NM. Adela was preceded in death by her husband, Amado Chavez and her daughter, Amalia Chavez. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Saavedra and husband, Flaviano, Nestora "Esther" Chavez and husband, Tony; sons, Richard and Joe Amado, Gilbert and wife, Dottie, Ernest and wife, Sandy, Lawrence and wife, Becky, Frank and wife, Sarah, Severo "Sid" and wife, Gina; brother, Pedro Griego and wife, Dolores; sisters, Virginia Aragon, Fedelina Garcia, Manuelita Herrera, Carmen Thompson, and Amadita Griego; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews; her very good friends, Mary Lipinski and Lupe Montoya; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2006. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with all of her sons serving as pallbearers. NERWICK -- Charles M. Nerwick, age 87, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away December 30, 2005. Charles was born to Martin and Sarah Nerwick August 4, 1918 in North Dakota. Mr. Nerwick was survived by wife, Catherine Nerwick who he was married to for 63 years; two daughters, Judy and husband, George Heath, Serene Brock and husband, Robert; son, Randy Nerwick and companion, Harry Gilbert; sister, Marian MacIver; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Charles was a longtime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and worked for General Electric where he retired from. Memorial Services for Charles will be held Thursday January 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church. PADILLA -- Gilbert "Gibo" Padilla, 58, a life long resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away, with his family by his side, on December 31, 2005. He was the youngest child born to Tomacita (Chavez) and Nep Sr. Padilla. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ida, and his three daughters, the eldest, Ila (33) and her husband, Jason Reed, Yolanda (30) and her husband, Michael Moyer, and the baby, Veronica (25). He was a proud grandfather of Alexander Gilbert Reed and Demi John Reed. He is also survived by his siblings, Clara and husband, Herman Duran, Leo and wife, Annie Padilla, Louie and wife, Lupe Padilla; and Dora and husband, Rudy Candelaria. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Isaac, Silvia, Nep Jr., Isabel, and the Twins. Gibo graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1978 with a B.A. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting/Computer Science. At the time of death, he was the Bursar at the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (TVI). A Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 6, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Guadalupe, with burial immediately following at the Los Padillas Cemetery.

ATENCIO -- Maria Rita Atencio, 91, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. After enduring much pain and suffering, she was given angel's wings to fly into the waiting arms of our Heavenly Father. Family, faith, and prayer were central to her life. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Atencio, parents and four siblings. She is survived by three daughters; Rena Dragoo and husband Roger; Margaret Rodriguez and husband, Alonzo; Marie Maestas and husband Arthur; and by her caregiver Endy Pacheco, whom she loved like a daughter, and husband Henry. She was loved dearly by six grandchildren and their spouses, twelve great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Sevilla Santana and husband Juan; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives, friends and neighbors. Maria wished to express her deep appreciation to her nephew Gilbert (and Blanca) Trujillo and niece Viola (and Frank) Gutierrez. The family would also like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Odyssey Healthcare and Professional Services, especially Christine, Peggy, Frances, Cheramie, Renae, April, Sharon, Marie and Helen, Pallbearers will be Dean Chavez, Marvin Gutierrez, Arthur Maestas, Alonzo Rodriguez, Jr., Gilbert Trujillo and Patrick Trujillo. GONZALES -- Guadalupe "Lupe" C. Gonzales, age 62, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Santa Fe, passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Josephine V. Gonzales, and Sipio Gonzales. Lupe was born in Santa Fe, NM to Lee A. and Josephine V. Gonzales. She is survived by her children: Robert (Veronica) Garcia of Rio Rancho, NM, Rosemary Garcia of Albuquerque, Andrew (Rebecca) Garcia of Gilbert AZ, Michael (Rae) Garcia of Gaffney, SC, brothers: George (Julia) Gonzales of Albuquerque, Eloy (Stella) Gonzales of Albuquerque; granddaughters: Christal Garcia of Albuquerque, Sabrina Garcia, Kristi Garcia, of Gilbert AZ, Mallory Garcia of Gaffney, SC, grandson: Robert Jr., Rio Rancho; and step-granddaughters: Carmen Olsen, Kaili Olsen of Rio Rancho. Mrs. Gonzales was employed at the Sandia Casino in Albuquerque as a food service supervisor. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, St. Bernadette in Albuquerque. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her children, Ida Duran, Nevarez Turrietta Jr., Dolorez Martinez, Gloria Felix and Julia Turrietta-Silva; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband, Nevarez Turrietta Sr. and a son, Rufugio Turrietta. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church and a member of the 7th St. Senior Citizens. A visitation for Mrs. Sanchez will be Monday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 8:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by a Franciscan Friar. DURAN -- Julian J. Duran, age 47, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005. He was a lifetime resident of Cuba, NM and worked in the Oil Fields and as a Rancher. Preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Audelia Duran, Julian is survived by his wife, Yolanda Madrid Duran; children, Elyssa Duran and Anthony Madrid; grandson, "cowboy"; siblings, Fabiola and Clarence Morales, Chemo and Flora Duran, Ralph and Jessie Duran, all of Cuba, Gilbert and Sharon Duran of Bernalillo, Rick and Terry Duran of Lindrith, Jenny and Bill Chapman of Phoenix, AZ, Emma Dominguez of Rio Rancho, Cecilia and Jose Duarte of Los Lunas; 11 nephews; eight nieces; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed. Julian will be forever in out thoughts, hearts and prayers. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, New Mexico. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2005. FILLARE -- Rosalie Fillare, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Vista Care Hospice Inpatient Unit. Ms. Fillare was born on January 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Angelo and Josephine Bonura. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Fillare in 1946 and her son, Roy R. Fillare in 2004. Ms. Fillare is survived by her daughters, Angela Gilbert and her husband, Larry, of Oklahoma City, OK, Joan Ecker and her husband, Raymond, and Bernice Bennett and her husband, John, of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing and visitation on Monday, December 26, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 12:30 p.m., also at the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options.
