ATENCIO -- Maria Rita Atencio, 91, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. After enduring much pain and suffering, she was given angel's wings to fly into the waiting arms of our Heavenly Father. Family, faith, and prayer were central to her life. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Atencio, parents and four siblings. She is survived by three daughters; Rena Dragoo and husband Roger; Margaret Rodriguez and husband, Alonzo; Marie Maestas and husband Arthur; and by her caregiver Endy Pacheco, whom she loved like a daughter, and husband Henry. She was loved dearly by six grandchildren and their spouses, twelve great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Sevilla Santana and husband Juan; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives, friends and neighbors. Maria wished to express her deep appreciation to her nephew Gilbert (and Blanca) Trujillo and niece Viola (and Frank) Gutierrez. CORNISH -- Marion S. Cornish, age 82, survived by her husband, a daughter and three sons. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gama Sorority at the University of New Mexico and elected to the Morter Board Honorary Society. She loved the outdoors and skied, fished hiked and studied wildflowers, native plants, mushrooms and trees. She worked in World War Two as a "Rosie the Riviter". GONZALES -- Margaret (Jacobita) Garcia Gonzales, age 90, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, loving neighbor, and life-long resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 29, 2005, into the waiting arms of God and the arms of her beloved husband "Largo"; her mom and dad, Benito Garcia and Lydia Marquez Garcia; and all her brothers and sisters whom she laid to rest, Samuel Garcia, Marion Chavez, Pete Garcia, Rudolph Garcia, Beatrice Villanueva, Rebecca White, Sarah Avolio, and Libby Hall. GOODWIN -- Dorothy Elaine Goodwin, 78, went to be with the Lord on New Year's Day. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Claude; her daughters, Kathleen, Patricia and husband, Jeff, and Becky and husband, Mike; and the apples of her eye, her grandsons, Davis and Evan; her brothers, Elbert and wife Jean, Raymond and wife, Betty; her sister, Della; and many loving nieces and nephews who share fond memories of her kindness and generosity. Dorothy was born on April 30, 1927, in Shiprock, New Mexico, to Hannah and Homer Smith. She grew up in Aztec, NM and El Paso, TX, graduating from Ysleta HS. After her marriage to Claude, she worked outside the home for many years; however, her true vocation was always being a loving wife and mother. She was actively involved in the many activities of her daughters for many years. In her earlier years, she was an active member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. Her passions included bowling, which she did for many years until her arthritis kept her from it; gardening when she was able; enjoying the many flowers that Claude grows in their yard; attending Lobo basketball games which she and Claude did for over 30 years; and watching the Price is Right daily. HERNANDEZ -- Jennie F. Hernandez, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970 died Thursday, December 29, 2005. She is survived by her children; Dennis Hernandez of Albuquerque, Ray Hernandez and wife, Daisy, of Albuquerque, Dolores Hance of Albuquerque, Gregory Hernandez of Quicksburg, VA, Francis J. Hernandez of Albuquerque and Phil D. Hernandez of Bellingham, WA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Brezi and Frances Novotny, both of New York City; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Dionisio Hernandez, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and member of the Color Guard, in 1970; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, John and Louis Lumenick; and 1 sister, Anna Rizzo. She was born on September 2, 1913 in Philadelphia, PA, to John and Frances Krupiak Lumenick. Jennie was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Legion of Mary. HUSTON -- Jack D. Huston passed away on December 24, 2005. Mr. Huston was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1916. He is survived by his wife, Billie, of the family home; daughter, Kathleen Huston-Fortney and husband, Page, of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Jeff Weber, of Boulder, CO; great-granddaughters, Elle and Aime; son, Brian and wife, Darla, of Pueblo, CO; stepdaughters, Margaret Moreshead and children, Cody and Lyndsay Johnston of Albuquerque and Jayne Archer and husband, Bill, of Livermore, CA and daughters Julia, Janelle and Barbara. Jack was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Ann Bradley and stepson, Bobby Moreshead. Their surviving children are Kevin Bradley and Sybil Avila, both of California, and Shayne Moreshead and wife, Patricia, and their children, Kelsey and Ashton of Albuquerque; and loyal friend, Gary Johnston of Albuquerque. Jack and family came to Albuquerque in 1965 from Minneapolis where he had been with CBS WCCO radio and television. He continued his career as news anchor for local KGGM before retiring to play golf. His career spanned well over 65 years including stage, motion pictures, radio commercial announcer, actor, writer and producer. His voice was heard on countless national radio and TV commercials. Jack was the voice of Sandia and Los Alamos Labs for over twenty years. He attended the Universities of Nebraska and Minnesota. In World War II, Jack served his country as a B29 Bombardier. He was a member of the Elks Club, a Mason, American Legion #49 and theTanoan Country Club, where he and Billie were members for over twenty years. They played hundreds of golf courses throughout the country, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and Jamaica. The Hustons traveled as members of the Family Motor Coach Association for fourteen years. JASSO -- Rodolfo M. Jasso, 86, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Monday, January 2, 2006. Mr. Jasso was a decorated World War II veteran. MADRIL -- Dionesia Madril, 88 a lifelong resident of Duran, NM died Monday, January 2, 2006 at her home following an illness. Mrs. Madril was born August 4, 1917 at Pinos Wells, NM to the home of Liberato Jaramillo and the former Mauricia Sanchez. She was reared and attended school at Pinos Wells. She married Guadalupe Madril on September 2, 1938 in Duran. She was a homemaker who loved quilting, cooking, and visits from her family. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Duran. Dionesia was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe on September 29, 1995; her parents; an infant daughter Cornelia; a grandson Ambrosio Chavez; a great-grandson Chris Madril Jr.; three brothers Eliseo, Melquidez, and Filomeno Jaramillo; two sisters Juanita Rodarte and an infant sister Maria Jaramillo. She is survived by twelve children; seven daughters, Augustina Archibeque and husband Richard of Belen; Berna Encinias and husband Grable, Mary Gonzales and husband Billy of Clovis; Eloisa Marez and husband Richard of Albuquerque; Diane Mirabal and husband Michael Sr. of Tularosa; Joann Chavez and husband Margarito of Vaughn; and Norma Marez and husband Clario Sr. of Sedillo; five sons Samuel Madril and wife Andrea of Alamogordo; Jose Madril and wife Amelia of Clovis; Albert Madril and wife Cindy of Chaparral, NM; Pablo Madril of Albuquerque; and Johnny Madril and wife Lucy of Hobbs. MARTINEZ -- Thomas of Cedar Crest, New Mexico, passed away on December 30, 2005 from complications of Parkinson's disease. Tom was born on September 22, 1923 in Cimarron, New Mexico. He was the son of Solomon and Carolina Maxwell Martinez. Tom enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was stationed in Columbia, South Carolina where he met Jerry Jones. Tom and Jerry were married on September 15, 1945. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary surrounded by their loving family. Tom graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife and was responsible for designing many of the bridges, roads, and hatcheries around the country. After retiring from the fish and wildlife, he started Tom Martinez and Sons-Surveying. He also built Tom and Jerry Plaza in Cedar Crest in the early 70's. Tom is survived by his loving family, his wife, Jerry; his sons, David and his wife, Debbie and their children, Brandon and his wife, Valerie, and daughter, Halo, Marc, Michelle, and Kimberly; Jimmy and his wife, Jessie and their children, Tommy and Dru Bailey; Gary and his wife, Mary and their children, Jeff and Ashley; John and his wife, Carol and their children, John Thomas and Jodi; Bobby and his daughter, Marisa Carolina and her mother, Terri. Tom's daughters are Diane and her husband, Kent Hansen and their son, Matt and his wife, Miranda and daughter Terriana; Brenda Martinez; Beatrice Cunningham and her children, Lora, Alyssa and her son, Marlon, and Gregory and his wife Veronica, and their daughters, Candice, Jackie, Lena, and Veronica; and special friend, Vangie Varney. Tom Martinez will be remembered for his tremendous love for his family and for being a very hard-working individual who always did each job to the best of his ability. MICHAEL -- Elizabeth June Michael, born February 12, 1930 died peacefully at her home on December 30, 2005. "June" as she was known by all, was the mother of 10 children. Deborah, John, Gary, Glen, MaryAnn, Mark (deceased), Fred, Laura, Kim, and Robert. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. June was married to Carl Larry Michael from 1951 until his death in 1980. Her many talents in sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, canning and baking helped provide necessities as well as treasured gifts to friends and family throughout the years. She greatly enjoyed reading until diabetes took her sight, but she was happiest working in her garden, producing bushels of vegetables as well as an array of roses that gave delight to all who saw them. We will remember you, Mom. Go in peace and with our love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. No services are being held.

MONTOYA -- Regina D. Montoya, 57, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 surrounded by her family. Two major highlights in her life were her graduation from the University of New Mexico and having ten years of being clean and sober. Regina is survived by her father, Carlos M. MOYER -- Michael L. Moyer, 38, passed away on December 31, 2005. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Nacarato, in March 2001. Michael was born in El Paso, TX and moved to Albuquerque at the age of two. He graduated from Manzano High School in 1985. He had been employed as a security guard at Winrock Mall for the last eight years. He was very fond of all of his animals. He is survived by his father, Art Moyer of Iowa; his stepfather, Ted Nacarato, of Albuquerque; brother, Gordon Phillip Moyer and wife, Vicki, of Albuquerque; uncle, Vernon Quinton and wife, Priscilla, of Olympia, WA; grandfather, Larry Quinton, of Olympia, WA; and two nephews, Justin and Brandon Moyer of Albuquerque. ORTEGA -- Robert I. Ortega (Bobby) passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005 after a long illness. He was born on May 19, 1934 in Denver, CO. Robert was one of five children born to Jose Esteban Ortega and Rebecca Muniz Ortega. His parents were married on February 2, 1920 in Dawson, NM. In the 1940's the family settled in Albuquerque. Robert attended several Catholic schools in Denver and Albuquerque. He graduated from Albuquerque High in 1952. By that time he had fallen completely in love with the game of golf. It was a love that he pursued and nurtured for the rest of his life. He won the Albuquerque City Golf Championship in 1954. That same year, he represented New Mexico in the National Amateur Tournament in Detroit. He was an amateur member of the New Mexico Governor's Cup Team four times. After many years in the retail liquor business, he turned professional in 1986. He worked at Los Altos Golf Course as an Assistant Professional from 1986 until 1992. In April 1993, he became an assistant at Arroyo del Oso Golf Course. He remained there until illness forced his retirement. He achieved his Class A PGA Membership in April 1994. He remains a PGA Member in good standing. Robert is survived by Helen, his wife of 43 years; three loving children, Tisa, Tanya, R.J., and Ivy, R.J.'s beloved fiancee. Many of his happiest times were spent with his fantastic grandchildren, Sebastian, Kylie, and Aubrey. PADILLA -- Lupita Ortiz Padilla passed away on December 30, 2005. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Cipriano Padilla; one son, Cecilio Padilla; one grandson, Patrick Padilla; one daughter-in-law, Frances Padilla; her parents; and all of her brothers and sisters whom she laid to rest. RHODES -- Virgil Oren Rhodes, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Virgil is survived by his daughters, Janet Rhodes and husband, Delbert of Albuquerque, Doris Rhodes of Albuquerque, Carolyn Jameson and husband Terry, of Las Cruces; grandchildren, Heather Rhodes, April Rhodes, Nicole Rhodes, Lee Rhodes, Spc. Sonia Shingleton, Matthew Seik and Jason Seik, all of Albuquerque; and great-grandson, Justin Rhodes of Albuquerque; sister, Dorothy Brightbill and husband, Bruce of Cotton Center, TX; sister, Florence Rhoades of Ventura, CA; sister-in-law, Iva Rhodes of Lubbock, TX; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his loving and dedicated companion of three and a half years, Evelyn Schaefer of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Irving Rhodes, his mother, Florence Opal Rhodes and his brother, Irvan Rhodes. He was a member of the Rio Rancho Kiwanis Club. Virgil was born in Hale County, TX, on December 7, 1924. He served 30 months in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Upon his discharge from the Army, he settled in Abernathy, TX, married, began his family and purchased an irrigated cotton farm. He loved to fly private planes and obtained his pilot's license, commercial and flight instructor's licenses. He moved his family to Albuquerque in 1964 and became a licensed realtor and contractor. In 1970, Virgil was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives from District 14 in Albuquerque. He served two terms in the NM Legislature and in 1974 ran for Lt. Governor with gubernatorial candidate Joe Skeen. In 1991, Virgil was elected to the New Mexico State Senate where he served from 1992 through 1996. Virgil's family would be honored to have members of the NM House of Representatives and NM Senate who served with Virgil serve as honorary pallbearers. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 5 at 11 a.m. at French Mortuary on Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial. RICHARDSON -- Tina Marie Richardson, 47, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 31, 2005. Tina is the beloved mother to her eight children, Tory Englehart and husband, Terry, Scott Horton, David Galaviz, Denise Rogers, Deanna Sentz, Joanna Richardson, Crystal Richardson and Thomas Richardson; she is also survived by her father, Warren L. Clines; one sister, Teddi Blaylock and husband, Gary; four brothers, George Clines and wife, Jan, Steve Clines and fiance Lorraine Baca, Michael Clines and David Clines; 15 grandchildren, a close friend, Jerry Gilcrease; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tina was preceded in death by her mother, Arvilla Clines, a companion, Alfred Galaviz Jr. and a brother, Paul Clines. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. ROBINETT -- Greg Robinett, 55, passed away in Lovington, New Mexico at Nor-Lea Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2005. He was born in Warm Springs, Oregon on June 26, 1950. Rosary services will be held at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. and mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Lovington. Burial will follow in Lovington Cemetery. Services are provided by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington. He is survived by 3 brothers, Ron & wife Eileen Robinett of Lovington, Charles D. Robinett III of Lovington and Louis & wife, Consuelo Hilderbrand of Washington and 1 sister, Jackie Allison of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Lillian Robinett and 1 sister, Patricia Cooper. Mr. Robinett was a construction superintendent for Trinity Construction company and he loved the outdoors.

ROCKAFELLOW -- Charlotte age 86, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away December 28th, 2005 in Mesa Arizona, at her daughter's home. She was born April 26th, 1919, and is survived by her two daughters, Patty Urban, of Mesa, Arizona and Wendy Hughes, of San Diego, California; and her three sisters, Gretchen Carroll, Elsa Schultz, and Heppy Leith. She was a loving mother, and a beloved friend to many. She served others all her life with great joy. Char regarded being the creator and sole owner of "Chars Country Place", her greatest and most satisfying labor of love. ROMERO -- Tamara Kathleen Keller Romero- born March 17, 1958, in Sioux Falls, SD, having lived out the rest of her days in Albuquerque, until the date of her death in December 2005. This kindhearted soul leaves behind her friend Richard Romero, the source of her joy, her two children Jesse and Shannon Adams and her three beautiful grandchildren Trystany Adams, Ashelyn Bryer, and Christian Adams; her brothers and sisters, Lori, Patrick, Jill, Joseph and James Keller; her sixteen nieces and nephews; her step-mother Joni Keller, and her extended family. She will be joined by her parents Edward and Nancy Keller; her sisters Julie, and Christie Keller; her brother Michael Keller; and her nephew Jason Paul Keller Chavez. A Memorial Service will be held on January 6, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at East Gate Church on 12120 Copper NE in Albuquerque, west of Chelwood on Cooper. SALAS -- Benito Alejandro Salas, 22, of Edgewood, NM, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Benito was born July 11, 1983 in Landstuhl, Germany to Benito and Sandra (Gauldin) Salas. Benito was a 2001 graduate from Moriarty High School. He is survived by his parents, Benny, and Sandra Salas of Edgewood, NM; a sister, Jessica Leonor Evelyn Salas of Edgewood, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jess and Bessie Gauldin; and Alejandro and Leonor Salas. All that knew and loved Benito will miss him. There will be a Rosary on Monday, January 2, 2006, and Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 7:00 p.m., at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. SCHMIDT -- Charles Henry Schmidt, a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years, was called to our Lord peacefully in his home in the company of friends and family on the 29th of December 2005. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Anna L. Schmidt in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jaramillo Schmidt; sister, Ester Ridings of Missouri; his four children, Charles Henry Schmidt of Colorado, Kathy Jane Reap of Texas, Cynthia and Charles Casey of Virginia and Susan Ann Schmidt of New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Shaun Reap of Texas, Renee Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, Micah DeHenau and Jacob John Schmidt, all of Colorado, and Ken and Scott Casey, both of Arizona. Charles is also survived by extended family, Rainer and Sarah Walther, Russ and Lisa Jaramillo and children Orion and Caleb, Renee Jaramillo and son, Derek, Wiley and Loretta Sayers and children, Alex and Jessica. He is also survived by his loving dog, Butch. Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who lived a full life in every way possible. He was a very spiritual person who loved fishing, boating, and spending time with family. He had a fabulous sense of humor and loved to entertain those around him with his wonderful jokes, stories, and magic tricks. Charles served in the Navy while attending Cal Tech and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in Rolla. He went on to help in the founding of multiple businesses including his own successful manufacturing business, United Metal Spinning Company (UMSCO). Charles always kept a positive outlook on life and stayed young at heart wanting "to remain child-like not childish." The family wishes to send its sincerest gratitude to all its caring friends, neighbors, friends of Bill W., Vista Care Hospice, and the staff of Lovelace Hospital. TAPIA -- Aurora S. Tapia, 89, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 2, 2006 peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Vitalia Sena; two brothers, Pablo Sena Jr. and Ernesto Sena; sister in law, Elena Sena; two sisters, Avidal Gonzales and her husband, Eduardo and Feliz Sena and a great grand daughter, Alexius Thalia Baca. Mrs. Tapia was a member of the Catholic Church.
