CHAVEZ- LEFTHAND, NATALIE Age 33, passed away on January 31, 2015 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Eric Lefthand; son Nathan; daughters Nia and Naiomi; mother Donna Hernandez, and many loving relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held on February 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sagebrush Community Church located at 6440 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.

MCWHIRTER, MAX Max was born in Mountainair, New Mexico, October 1920. He had a sister, Donna Gail, who was four years older. He spent his summers helping on his grandmother's farm in House, New Mexico. In his early teens his mother passed and he and his father moved into the Shaffer Hotel. Later he attended and graduated from NMMI in Roswell, New Mexico. He worked in the family hardware store, saving money to go to college and attended UNM graduating in 1944. At that time he received his commission in the Navy and married Eleanor Humphreys of Raton, New Mexico. He served on the USS - LSM 137 in the Pacific Theater. After WW II he worked at the School of Mines in Socorro, New Mexico doing research on thunderstorm physics and cloud seeding. Then he moved to Albuquerque as he had a new job at Sandia Labs. He worked there for 28 years in a division that tested shock and vibration of metal for rockets and missiles. He retired in 1978. He and Elly were active members at First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque for many years. He taught Sunday school, was an elder and an active member in Round-Up, a family group. Max is survived by his daughter, Beth of Walnut Creek; his sister-in-law, Mary Jo Humphreys of Phoenix; and her daughter Kay Manahan and her husband, David, and their daughters, Kathleen, and Erin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elly in 2010 and his stepmother, Corona and sister, Donna Gail. A Memorial service will be held at Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE. LATIMORE, LOIS R. Lois R. Latimore passed away February 2, 2015. She was born May 7, 1918 and grew up in Seattle, WA. She has been a longtime resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Dan Latimore; daughters, Janet Augustine (Al) and Donna Overson (Frank); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Latimore; her grandson, Dean Latimore; and her daughter-in-law, Betty Latimore. Services will be held in Mountain Home, Idaho. LEACH, THURMAN L. Thurman L. Leach, 84, born 7/4/30 in Wheatland, NM, lost his battle with cancer on Wed., Feb. 4th. He was preceded in death by his parents Jess T. and Thelma Leach, sister Jesse Fern, and granddaughter Georgia Sanchez. Thurman is survived by Donna, his wife of 64 years; brother Dwain; sister Carolyn; sons Mike and Alan; granddaughter Alise Rose; and great-grandchildren Chantel, Angelina, Isabella, and Adrian. Thurman was a Korean war veteran. He later worked in the Aerospace industry, including work on the Apollo project. He went on the have a career in the heating and cooling field. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 in Albuquerque, where a memorial celebration will be held at 6:00 pm, Fri., Feb 20th.

SHIPLET, DONNA MAY (SMITH) Age 67, passed away with her daughters by her side on January 26, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM due to complications with pneumonia. Donna was born on April 18, 1947 in Clayton, NM to George and Winifred Smith. She grew up in Tucumcari, NM and graduated from The University of New Mexico in 1969 with a degree in Education. She married Charles Wayne Shiplet in 1970. Donna was a teacher for six years and then dedicated her life to her family. She helped her husband build his Veterinary business, Thunderbird Animal Clinic and volunteered her time to girl scouts, Eldorado High School cheerleading, New Mexico Ballet Company, Lana's School of Dance, and special education classrooms. Donna was a creative person and loved working on multiple crafts. Her biggest joy in life was her two daughters, her family, and friends and was known for doing anything for them. Donna is survived by her daughters, Keri Shiplet and Jennifer Dodrill (Brad); and her grandson, Jayden Dodrill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (2005). A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery NE 87111, with a reception to follow. VANDERWALL, DONNA LEE Donna Lee Vanderwall, age 79, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, moved to her permanent home with the Lord Sunday, January 25, 2015 while surrounded by loving family. Donna was born on September 19, 1935 to Lawrence and Maurine Staab in Lincoln, Nebraska. Marrying and moving to Southern California, she began her career with the telephone company from which she retired early from a management position in 1981 and began a second career. After attending school, she obtained her therapist license, and began this second career as a family therapist. Retiring again in 2000, she bought a large farm in Tennessee, which she developed for a season of her life before retiring the third time and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be near family. She spent the last three years of her life volunteering in her church, counseling as a chaplain, teaching classes, developing programs and demonstrating how a life spent for others is the most joyful of all. Celebration of her life will be 3pm on Friday, January 30th, at Calvary Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd NE, ABQ with Skip Heitzig officiating.
