Merren -- Alice E. Merren, 74, passed away Friday after a yearlong illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, George T. Merren. She is survived by her three sons, Richard Wagner of Bangkok, Thailand, Tom and David Merren of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her brother, Pete Snyder of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters. A graveside service will take place this morning at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 69. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St., Gary F. Santillanes C.F.S.P.

Gerding -- Mildred"Millie" L. Gerding, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1935, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Millie White McMahon and husband, John T. McMahon; grandchildren, Jack and Mollie McMahon. Her second family includes, Bob and Harriet Gerding: grandchildren, Mike, Patrick, Laura and Flint Morris; great-grandchildren, J. T. and Melanie Morris; Dick and Eileen Gerding, Dr. David Gerding, and Christine Gerding; Clarilou (deceased) and Jim Bryce; grandchildren, Deena, Dan, Doug, and Don Bryce. She is also survived by her brother, Wilford Cheedle of Grand Junction, CO; niece, Marie Reed of Grand Junction, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Fred A. White, whom she married on December 3, 1940; and her second husband of eight years, Lou Gerding, whom she married on August 15, 1971. Mrs. Gerding moved to Albuquerque from Colorado as a nurse to work for Presbyterian Hospital. She had been active in many community organizations; she was president of Junior League of Albuquerque in 1944, active in setting up Cerebral Palsy Day School, and the June Music Festival. She was a board member and active in Community Concerts and the Albuquerque Little Theatre, where she also participated in some productions. She was a leader in Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, where she also served as a board member. Mrs. Gerding taught Red Cross Nurses Aid and Home Nursing Courses. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 16th, 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 4th and Lead SW, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Rio Grande Zoological Society, 903 10th St. SW, 87102, or to the New Mexico Boy's Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87110. Dabney -- Dr. William Minor Dabney, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died on May 10, 2000. He was born on January 6, 1919 to Mary Beverley Whittle Dabney and James Cabell Dabney in Norfolk, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Calvert Page Dabney. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne Patterson Dabney; his children and their spouses, the Reverend Virginia Dabney Brown of Memphis, TN, Mary Beverley and Douglas Rockefeller of New Orleans, LA, Dr. Daniel Patterson Dabney of St. Paul, MN, and Elizabeth Sinclair and the Very Reverend David E.K. Puckett, Albuquerque; his grandchildren are Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Rebecca Brown, Memphis, and Cindy Dabney, Santa Fe; his sister, Mary Beverley Dabney, Norfolk, VA also survives. Dr. Dabney attended the College of William and Mary, Norfolk, and received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History from the University of Virginia. He taught at Armstrong Junior College in Savannah, GA before entering in the U.S. Navy, where he served as an officer aboard the USS Tattnall in the Caribbean, the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Pacific Ocean. Upon discharge he returned to Armstrong and he again attended the University of Virginia, where he earned his PhD degree in History. He accepted a post at the University of New Mexico in 1951 and he taught summer courses at the University of Virginia. He was awarded a Fulbright grant and taught American history at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the author of"William Henry Drayton and the American Revolution", contributed a monograph to a volume in memory of Marion Dargan and wrote a number of professional articles. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Among the many awards he received were Professor of the Month and Graduate Professor of the Year at UNM. He was a talented speaker and appeared before many professional and civic groups. Dr. Dabney had been a vestry member at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church and was currently a communicant of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University NE 87106, Wednesday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m., with the Rev. Carole McGowan, the Rev. Virginia Brown, and the Very Rev. David F.K. Puckett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family will be grateful for memorials to Canterbury Church at the above address or to the History Department, UNM Development Office, 700 Lomas NE, Suite 108, 87102. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Dr. Dabney, (891-8200).

Gray -- Melvin Wayne Gray, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2000 at Albuquerque Manor nursing home. He was born in Dunbar, Pennsylvania in 1914 and moved to Albuquerque in 1988 with his wife of 46 years, Martha, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne and her husband, Don of Rio Rancho and Lynette and her husband, Dan of Albuquerque; by his grandchildren, Candy Shabowski and her husband, Ray of Pennsylvania, Mike Aiken and his wife, Stacy of Albuquerque, Cari Aiken of Pennsylvania, David Koperski of Rio Rancho, and Rob Aiken and his wife, Camie of Albuquerque; and by his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kelsey, Katie and Trent. The family will hold a private memorial service. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society of NM, Ph-891-8200.

O'hanlon -- Patricia M. O'Hanlon-Neal, 74, died on May 7, 2000 in Riverside, CA. She was a long time resident of Albuquerque and for many years was an elementary school teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1947 with a BA in Elementary Education. Patty was a life-long conservationist and environmentalist. For many years she was active as a member and an officer of the San Gorgonio Chapter of the Sierra Club, enthusiastically involving herself in their myriad projects and activities. She was an avid gardener, cook, home entertainer, camper, hiker, swimmer and adventuresome traveler. Patty was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by three sons, Mark Neal of Las Cruces, NM, David Neal of Lexington, MA, and Gregory Neal of Riverside, CA; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Linsey, Landon, Jonathan, Richard, Patrick, Katherine and Elizabeth; and a sister, Marjorie O'Hanlon of Laguna Woods, CA; one son, Timothy Neal, died in 1965 at age 12. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Nature Conservancy, California Chapter, 201 Mission Street, Fourth Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105.

Archuleta -- Mr. Felipe Adriano Archuleta, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 9, 2000. Mr. Archuleta was the beloved husband of 47 years to Mrs. Florentina Martinez. He is also survived by two sons, Phillip A. Archuleta Jr. and wife, Sandra and Floyd A. Archuleta and wife, Debra; three sisters, Ramonita Roybal, Odilia Baker and Julia Casados; four brothers, Pablin Archuleta and wife, Margaret, Jose Archuleta and wife, Frances, David Archuleta and wife, Lydia and Mike Archuleta and wife, Teddie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosenaldo Martinez, Mamalia Valdez and Beatrice Montano; six grandchildren, Laura, Phillip III, Joshua, Victoria, Jessica and Hannah; one great-grandchild, Brianna. Mr. Archuleta was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. A Funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m., at Victory Love Fellowship Church, 7201 Central NW. Pastor Rob Carman officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., with Military Honors. His son, Reverend Floyd A. Archuleta will do the graveside readings. Pallbearers will be Ernie Archuleta, Tony Archuleta, Vicente Atencio, Mike Archuleta, Tito Roybal and Phil Archuleta III. Honorary will be Alfred Parra, Michael Ulibarri, Felipe Garcia, Antonio Villalobas, Benny Naranjo, John Ortega, Severo Padilla and Sixto Lopez. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.
