CHAVEZ -- Maria (Della) Chavez, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was called to heaven by our heavenly father to be reunited with her beloved husband on Thursday, September 17, 2009. Della devoted her life to her family and God, this was evident to all who knew her. Her spirit will live on through everyone she touched throughout her special life. Della is survived by her children, Robert Chavez Jr., Rudy Chavez (Diana), Carol Chavez, Steve R. Chavez (Cecilia), Rita Chavez, Anita Chavez, and Michelle Chavez; 12 grandchildren, her very special grandson Johnny Chavez who she referred to as the angel of our family; Rudy (Pinon) Chavez Jr, Debra Chavez, Gabriel Beauchamp, Louie Maldonado Jr., Dominic Maldonado, Melissa Garcia, Stephanie Romero, Jessica Chavez, Lauren Chavez, Michael Montoya, and Megan Montoya; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers, which include her very special sister Lola Landman and her very special brother Henry Sanchez. Della was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Chavez, her parents Rosa and Jose Sanchez, granddaughter Tracy Beauchamp, sister Bessie Sanchez, mother and father-in-law Juan and Juliana Chavez. On Monday, September 21, 2009 a viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary and celebration of life at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. N.W. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louie Maldonado Jr., Dominic Maldonado, Michael Montoya, Carlos Romero, Cipriano Garcia, Gabriel Beauchamp, Ben Torrez and Martin Chris Romero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudy (Pinon) Chavez Jr., Henry Sanchez, Leroy Sanchez, Lionel Anaya, Rosina Duran and Eileen Lopez. SILVA -- Antonio V. Silva passed away on September 15, 2009, at the age of 58. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a resident of El Paso, Texas for the past 26 years. He practiced law in El Paso County, Texas and the State of New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; son, Robert Silva; daughter, Monica and husband Frank Sosa III; grandchildren, Frankie, Clarissa and Charles Sosa. He is also survived by his mother, Gertrude Silva; brother, Jose Manuel Silva, Jr.; sisters, Lydia Silva, Ida Silva, Grace Chavez, Ginnie Franech, and Patricia Johnson. ROACH -- Frieda Turner Roach, went home to be with her Heavenly Father September 17, 2009. She was born February 12, 1916 in Santa Rita, NM to Grant County Pioneers Jesse L. and Edith M. Turner. She was a lifelong New Mexico resident having lived in Grant County, Socorro, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She is survived by her sons, James T. Roach and wife Shirley of Albuquerque, Thomas D. Roach of Los Alamos and Ken L. Roach of Phoenix. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David C. Roach and wife Erin, Tiffany Roach Martin and husband Brian, Chet M. Roach, Heather M. Roach, Joseph T. Roach and Jessica G. Roach; four step-grandchildren, Linda Head and husband, Bobby, Pam Roberson and husband Butch, Terry Ruth and Debbie Boyles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Roach, a former New Mexico State Police Chief; two sisters, Jean Baker and Jane Cureton; and stepdaughter, JoVann Hill. Frieda is a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque and was formerly employed by the Baptist Convention of New Mexico. Family visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, 1:30 p.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel, with Reverend Michael M. Cook and Dr. David C. Roach officiating. ROMERO -- Anne P. Romero, 87, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Offerdahl and husband, Roger of Bosque Farms, Shirley Wood and husband, Michael of Homestead, FL and Charlene Trexler and husband, Darren of Peralta; grandchildren, James Chavez and wife, Nichole, Jessica Hernandez and husband, Javier, Jason Dudoich, Elizabeth Healy and husband, Ray, Mitchell Wood and wife, Laura and Angelique Wood; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle and Nichell Chavez, and Alexis and Andrew Hernandez; sisters, Virginia Lopez and Aurelia Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank T. Romero; and her brothers, Martin, Julian and Paul Serna. She was employed by Western Union Telegraph for 27 years as a bookkeeper. Anne was active at the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque for many years. Her greatest joys were caring for her family, gardening and tending to her home. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. A service will be held in Anne's honor on Saturday, September 19, 2009, 9:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. FEDERICI -- William R. Federici, Born on July 15, 1917, passed away in Santa Fe on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the age of 92. Bill was born in Cimarron, New Mexico, the son of Narcisco and Divina Federici, who immigrated to the United States from Spezia, Italy, in 1903. He attended elementary schools in Cimarron and Colfax, NM and graduated from high school in Dawson, NM in 1934. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1939 and from the University of Colorado Law School in 1941. Bill served as an assistant attorney general of New Mexico in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific from 1942-1946 during World War II. On VE Day, May 8, 1945 he married Elsie Marie Frizell at St. Joseph Catholic Church Rectory in Springer, NM. Bill and Elsie lived in Washington, D.C. while he served as an aide to Congressman A.M. Fernandez. In 1946 he returned to the New Mexico Attorney General's office, then in 1948 joined the law firm of Seth and Montgomery in Santa Fe and became a partner shortly thereafter. Bill served on the Supreme Court of New Mexico from 1977 1987, the last two years as Chief Justice. He then returned to the Montgomery firm in the capacity "Of Counsel." In 2005 he became Counsel Emeritus. Bill is a member of the New Mexico State Bar (inactive). He served as President of the State Bar, 1970-1971, and was a member of the New Mexico State Bar Commission. He is a Fellow of the American College of Probate Counsel (1965). Some of his awards include the University of Colorado Law School Alumni Award for Distinguished Service in the Judiciary (1991); the State Bar of New Mexico Distinguished Bar Service Award (1991); the State Bar of New Mexico Professionalism Award (1996); State Bar of New Mexico Century of Achievement Award (1999); the National Italian American Bar Association Achievement Award (2000); the American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the US Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit (2000); and the UNM Zia award (2002). Bill prided himself on making time to help others and providing pro-bono work to those in need. In his personal life, Bill enjoyed the outdoors, which included family trips to Yellowstone and Red River, fishing, hunting, boating and traveling both in the U.S. and abroad. He enjoyed family get-togethers, singing in harmony with his sisters and eating good food. In his later years he enjoyed his poker groups, horse racing and the casinos. Bill is survived by his sister, Ann Federici-Martin; children: Linda Stevens, Richard Federici, Larry Federici (Lora), and Gina Federici (Buck Rackley); grandchildren: Eric Federici and Staci Stevens (David Valentino); great-granddaughter, Carmen Jaye Valentino; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie; parents; brother Fred; sisters Benezia and Emma and her husband Lento. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapol in Santa Fe with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Celebration will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi at 12:00 noon.
