Burks -- James T. Burks, 92, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 15 years, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2000. James was born June 7, 1907, the son of Walter and Lula Bell Jernigan Burks in Decherd, Tennessee. He had been a self-employed cattle buyer/seller for many years before retiring. James had been a member of the Buckners Masonic Lodge in Dallas, TX, he was a Past Worthiful Masters. He is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Fendley and husband, Walter of Albuquerque; one sister, Naomi Luty of Arlington, TX; two grandchildren, Ronald J. Fendley Sr. and wife, Laura of Garland, TX and Sid Fendley and wife, Janet Norden of Edgewood; three great-grandchildren, Ronald J., Melissa, Alisa; two great-great-grandchildren, Marcus and Kirsten. The Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2000, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the service at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with Rev Richard Imprescia officiating, assisted by Mr. Burks niece, Tanya Sulak. Entombment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.

Clark -- Emma Marie Landaiche Clark. On Friday, January 28, 2000, our beloved mother and friend claimed the promise of eternal life and rests now in that place prepared for her by her lifelong companion and friend, her Way, Truth and Life, Jesus Christ. She is survived locally by her son; daughter, Mary Aynn Shoemate and husband, Ebb; granddaughter, Jamie Clark; grandson, Land Clark and wife, Lyla; great-grandchildren, Galland Clark, Taylor Clark and Michael Clark. Other survivors include her dear nephew, A.P. Landaiche and wife, Patti Anne of Baton Rouge, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her unconditionally love and generosity created an extended family of sons, daughters, brothers and sisters throughout the world. Born near Reserve, LA, January 17, 1907, she became a resident of Albuquerque in 1945. She retired from the Budget Department at Kirtland AFB in 1972 after 28 years as a Civil Service employee. Following the death of her husband, Jim Clark in 1974, she became active with St. Joseph Prayer Center and ministered as a Christian Counselor for many years. An accomplished pianist in her youth, and always a strong supporter of the arts, she was the first treasurer of the reorganized Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Association in 1968. Rosary services at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE on Monday, 7:00 p.m., will be led by members of St. Joseph Prayer Center. A Mass celebrating Emma's joyful union with her Lord will be said Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father James Wheeler S.J., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Serving as pallbearers will be Land Clark, Galland Clark, Peter Frenzel, Dan Mueller, Bo Baca and Joe Shoemate. Because everyone who knew Emma is aware of her love of flowers, the family welcomes and appreciates floral remembrances or contributions to a charity of personal choice. Herron -- Felix Herron passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2000 at the age of 44. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gregoria Herron. He is survived by his father, Filiberto Herron; brothers, Benny, Robert, Marvin, Lloyd, Johnny, Leo, James and wife, Pefie; sisters, Betty Mackall, Mary, Della, Theresa and husband, Charlie Frequez. He is also survived by a special cousin and friend, Bobby Baca; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunt, cousins and friends who loved and will miss him. Felix was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where a Rosary will be held on Monday, January 31, 2000 at 7:00 p.m., and Mass on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., with an interment to follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Hopkins -- Angela J. Hopkins, age 84, a resident of Fort Ben, TX, died on Thursday, January 27, 2000. She is survived by her step-sons, James Hopkins and wife, Elaine of Surgarland, TX, Jack Hopkins and wife, Mary of Bethell, WA; step-grandchildren, Christopher Hopkins and wife, Leigh Ann of Los Angeles, CA, John Hopkins and wife, Stephanie of Kirkland, WA and Charles Hopkins of Sugarland, TX; niece, Joan Bauer and husband, Charles of Clearwater, FL; nephews, Frank Percin and wife, Nancy of Livonia, MI, William Percin and wife, Mary Lou of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew Percin and wife, Pat of Portland, OR; and several great-nephews and nieces. Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hopkins in 1974. She was retired from Sandia National Laboratories. She was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church and of the Golden Agers. Leischner -- Ella Christine Winter Leischner, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Thursday, January 27, 2000. She was the beloved mother of her daughter, Judy Knott of Albuquerque; granddaughter-in-law, Sharon Knott of Tijeras; brother, Ben Winter and wife, Elsie of Altamont, IL; and two sisters, Alma Neumann of Altamont, IL and Vera Maki of De Kalk, IL and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leischner was married December 30, 1923 to Rev. Paul E. Leischner, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, James P. Knott. Mrs. Leischner was a member of Faith in Christ Lutheran Church. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 25 years. Mrs. Leischner will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, Chelwood and Indian School NE, with Pastor Roger Wohletz officiating. Roberts -- Thomas Jason Roberts, 76, retired, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000 in Fort Worth, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2000 at the Old Chapel in Fort Myer, VA. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, donate to the National Prisoner of War Museum. Donations in his memory may be made to Andersonville Trust, Rt. 1, Box 800, Andersonville, GA 31711. Please request an acknowledgment to the family. Thomas Jason Roberts was a husband, father and soldier. He died as he lived, with courage, faith and love. He was born to James Carl Roberts and Mary Barnes Roberts on September 6, 1923 in Price, NC. Thomas was raised in a loving family with his brothers, Leonard Roberts, Cabel Roberts, James Carl Roberts Jr.; and sisters, Mary Alice Roberts and Sally Rebecca Roberts, who died at a young age. Thomas joined the Army in 1940 and was assigned to the 168th Anti-Tank Co. 34th Division at the start of World War II. He was captured by the German Army on February 17, 1943 in the Battle of Kasserine Pass. Thomas was imprisoned in several camps in Germany. During his distinguished career, he served in England, Africa, Italy and Germany, and was member of the Old Guard at Ft. Myer, VA. Thomas retired from the Army in 1965 as a Major. After the Army, Thomas joined the Central Intelligence Agency and served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Thomas married Joan Elizabeth Palmer Roberts on September 19, 1948. They have two daughters, Julia C. Roberts and Linda R. Kurland. Thomas reserved a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Elizabeth Kurland, Nathan Kurland, Jason Wall, Kelly Coppin and Amy Coppin; as well as his sons-in-law, Mark Kurland and Chris Coppin.

Hooser -- Anna Katherine Hooser passed away in her home in Las Vegas, NV, Thursday, January 20, 2000. She was a longtime resident of Los Alamos. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Edd Hooser. She is survived by three children, Anna A. Downs of Las Vegas, NV, Melvin Hooser of Goleta, CA and Edwina Matthews of White Rock, NM; nephew, James"Buddy" Elgin of Cincinnati, OH; niece, Sandra Walker of Hopkinsville, KT. She is also survived by grandchildren, Cheryl, Michelle, Wendy, Laura, Brenda, Kevin and Travis; and great-grandchildren, Brandy, Sarah, Ben, Samantha, Kyle, Forrest, Bryton, John and Walt.God saw that she was getting tired. And a cure was not to be . So he put his arms around her And whispered"come home to me." With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, We could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, A determined spirit was at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.Funeral Services were held in Las Vegas, NV, and burial will be in Las Cruces, NM. Savoie -- Berchman"Burt" H. Savoie, born September 13, 1928 in Elton, Louisiana, son of Edward Henry and Bessie Marie Savoie, died peacefully at home on January 27, 2000. Burt served in the Navy during WWII and then attended the University of Houston. He married Blanche Burnett in September of 1951. They had three children; two sons and a daughter. In April of 1984 he married Jo Bules and with their union he inherited a daughter and two sons. He worked in the gas and oil fields in the Middle East and North and South America for over forty years establishing the infra-structure for moving products to market. Prior to moving to Enid he owned businesses in Albuquerque and Grants, New Mexico. Burt is survived by his loving wife, Jo; sons, Chip Savoie and wife, Eleanor, B.H. Savoie, Jr. and wife, Sue; and daughter, Patricia Woody and husband, Bob, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also survived by Ranell Brown and husband, Steve of Oklahoma City and David Bules and Greg Bules of Enid. Surviving grandchildren are B.H., III, James, Samantha, Jody, and Shilo Savoie, Alexander and Matthew Woody, Todd, Allison & Jason Bules, Matt and Meredith Brown; and great-granddaughter, Madison Bules. His surviving sisters are Lauretta Fluitt and husband, Fred, Bonnie Porter and her husband, Rudy and Mollyann Savoie. He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; and two sisters. Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 30, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Gregory's the Great Catholic Church with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home. Sena -- Lucy Sena, 85, beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 26, 2000. Mrs. Sena was a resident of Albuquerque and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Sena. She is survived by her loving children, Steve Sena of San Francisco, CA and Josephine (Jo) Klein of Albuquerque; her precious grandchildren, Greg, James, Monica Ortega, Adam and Andres Sena; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Erik, Mattias, Felicia, Chase and Chloe. Final viewing will be this morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary.
