Dushane -- Mr. James Douglas DuShane, 82, a resident of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2000, at the home of daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Alfred Vasquez. Mr. DuShane was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Roswell and 43 years a member of St. Mark's on the Mesa Church, while residing in Albuquerque. He devoted 43 years of his life, in Albuquerque, at Van Atta Laboratories and community service with the Elks Club. Mr. DuShane was born August 26, 1917, in Winchester, Virginia, to the late Virginia Faulkner Fuller and James Ross DuShane. Also May Faulkner and Hogan Douglas Fuller, his grandparents. Mr. DuShane is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Glass DuShane; daughter, Virginia D. Vasquez and her husband, Al Vasquez of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Shelly Bergen of Durango, Christopher McAdoo of Tucson, AZ, Amy McAdoo of Albuquerque, and her two children, Ashley and Jakob Pino; son, Douglas Glass DuShane and his wife, Sian of San Antonio, TX and children, Megan and Joshua DuShane. Memorial Service is 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE, to celebrate the life of Mr. James Douglas DuShane. Father Chuck Collins, Father Jim Trainor of St. Mark's Church and Father Bob Williams of St. Andrews Church in Roswell. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the Church Library. Lindemann -- Hazel Cole Lindemann, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1982, passed away February 3, 2000, three days prior to her 93rd birthday. Born in Chicago, the younger of two daughters of James and Marie Hawley, she there completed grammar and high school. In 1930, after working in the offices of the Wrisley Company, she married Rex L. Cole of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Hazel was an early member of the Palos Methodist Church in Palos Heights, Illinois. She loved to cook and bake, and for a number of years following the second World War, she and her husband, Rex operated a popular restaurant in Orland Park, southwest of Chicago, where she gained acclaim for her outstanding homemade pies. She was preceded in death by Rex Cole; by her older sister, Mabel; by her second husband, Fred Lindemann; and by her step-son, Ronald Lindemann. She is survived by her son, Alan Rex Cole, Colonel, USAF, retired, and daughter-in-law, Merry M. Cole of Corrales, and by their children, Scott Cole of Dallas, TX, Stacy Cole Stefan of Placerville, CA, and Merry Cole Hanson of Rio Rancho, and their five children. She also is survived by the family of her step-son, Ronald Lindemann, his widow, Marilyn of Palos Heights, IL, and their five children, and ten grandchildren. Final arrangements have been completed by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico.

Peterson -- Beverly R. Peterson, age 63, a resident of New Mexico for most of her life, died Friday, February 11, 2000. She is survived by her children, Cathy Peterson of Los Lunas, NM, Karen Gutierrez and husband, Vincent of Albuquerque and James J. Peterson of Rio Rancho, NM; four grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Judith Reinhold of Sandia Park, NM. Private Services and Interment will take place in Skokie, Illinois. Romero -- Epifanio Romero, of Truchas, New Mexico, died of kidney failure on February 4, 2000 at the age of 90. Rev. Romero was a Presbyterian minister for many years in the Mora Valley (Mora, Holman, Chacon), and in Truchas, Chimayo and Cordova. His death was preceded by the deaths by his daughter, Rafaelita, in 1988; and his wife, Alice, in 1990. He is survived by his sister, Filia of San Diego, CA; his daughter's son, Tom Trujillo of Colorado Springs; his son, James and wife, Mary, and their children, Jeremy and Alicia of Ancon, NM, and by his son, Mark of Albuquerque, and his children, James of Albuquerque and Mario, currently stationed in Lakenheath, England. A memorial service for Rev. Romero, to be held at the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas, is pending.

Chung -- Han-Hee Chung, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died Monday, February 7, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Miki Broder and husband, Richard and Poong-Won Kim and husband, Dong S., all of Albuquerque; sons, Danny Chung and wife, Eun-Kyung and Jim Chung and wife, Mary, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tina, Mike, Kim, Helen, Sean, Michael, Eugene, Clara and James; great-grandchildren, Rick, Shannon; sister, Han-Pong Kim; and many other family members and friends. She often helped her children at the Fortune Cookie Restaurant, and the Samurai Grill and Sushi Bar. Services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Moonpill Chung officiating. Degroff -- Andrew Harrison DeGroff, age 92, died Wed. 2/9. Formerly of Little Genesee, NY, he had been living in Albuquerque since 1994. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances A DeGroff (Albuq); his brother, Jerald S. DeGroff and wife, Leta (Alfred Station, NY); and sister-in-law, Rhoda DeGroff (Panama City, Fl). He was preceded in death by his brother, James A. DeGroff; and his son, Brian J. DeGroff. He is survived by daughters, Kay Stone (Albuq) and Meg Smith and husband, Richard (Spencerport, NY); and daughter-in-law, Linda DeGroff (Athens, GA), son-in-law, Jim Stone (Albuq). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Leslie Stone Firkins and husband, Jim (Albuq), Kevin Stone and wife, Stephanie Richardson (Albuq), Andrew and Kristen Smith (Spencerport, NY); and three great-grandchildren. Hottenroth -- Col. (ret.) James H. Hottenroth, 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Hottenroth; three daughters and one son, Catherine Kummet and husband, Kenneth, Woodbury, NM, Theresa Hottenroth-Hetsko and husband, Cyril Hetsko, M.D., Madison, WI, James J. Hottenroth and wife, Liese, Steamboat Springs, CO and Cmdr. Marian Moe and husband, Andrew, El Centro, CA; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Nancy, Andy Jr., Kristin, Tess, John, Kim, Sarah, Angela, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish, a Lay Associate of the Handmaids of the Precious Blood, and a member of the New Mexico Altar Society, Catholics United for the Faith, Legion of Mary, Right to Life, Knights of Columbus, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Col. Hottenroth entered West Point in 1938, graduating first in his class in 1942. He served his country in the US Army, serving actively in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, and retired in 1969 with the rank of Colonel. He was remarkable for his love of God, love of his family, and love of his country and served all with honor, dignity and courage. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, followed by a military ceremony at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Brown, Duane Chavez, George Davis, Gene Guerin, Bob Kerschen, John Koller, Lu Lubitz, Tony Mance, Orie Montoya and Allen Struck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Handmaids of The Precious Blook, P.O. Box 90, Jemez Springs, NM 87025. Perez -- Mr. Valentino Perez died Thursday, peacefully at his home in Albuquerque with his family by his side. Mr. Perez was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and a member of the San Jose Parish. He served in the United States Army in World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Perez is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Perez. He is survived by his sons, Fred V. Perez and wife, Diane, Ray Perez and Fedencio Perez; brother, Manuel Perez of Albuquerque; sister, Mickie Machain of Moreno, CA; grandchildren, Adrian Perez and wife, Sherri and James Perez; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Cory Perez. Funeral Services for Mr. Perez will be held on Monday at the San Jose Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Radisson in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be John Baltaglia, Michael Walker, Joe Espitia, Jose Trujillo, Robert Padilla and Nick Machain. A Prayer Service for Mr. Perez will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
