Haynes -- Helen Ross Haynes, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the age of 85. She was a devoted wife and mother of seven, married for 31 years to the late George Ross, MD, and afterwards to the late Leo Haynes. Born Helen ¯Joy¯ Lewis in 1917, she was the youngest of three children. After spending her early years on a farm in upstate New York, she and her family moved to New York City. There, she attended Hunter College and received her nursing diploma in 1940 from Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing. She later served as a nurse in the United States Army. After marrying, she and her husband, George, eventually settled in Albuquerque in 1951, where they lovingly raised all seven children. Helen also became a great patron of the arts, supporter of Israel, avid reader, bridge player, and friend to many. She is survived by her daughters Peggy Dotson and Carolyn Herbert, both of Albuquerque; and her sons Jeffrey Ross, MD, of Santa Fe, Michael Ross, MD, of Denver, CO., Andrew Ross of Piedmont, CA., Clifford Ross and Thomas Ross, both of Santa Fe. She is also survived by their spouses and mates, James Dotson, Kristie Ross, Astrid Ross, Lisa Bagnatori, Elizabeth Hahn and John Weaver, and by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday, at 1:30 p.m., at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE. Sanchez -- Bessie C. Sanchez, 79, a resident of Belen, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2003. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blas and Sofia Chavez; her beloved husband of 45 years, Jim in 1984; her son, Edward in 1977; her two sisters, Marillita Sanchez and Beneranda Urtiaga; and her three brothers, Martin, Sosteno and Remy Chavez. She is survived by her children, Marcella Luna and her husband, Lewis of Los Chavez; Remy and his wife, Rebecca of Los Lunas; the late Edward and his wife, Selma of Los Chavez; Mary Theresa Contreras and her husband, Michael of Sacramento, CA; Carolyn Sanchez of Los Chavez; Jimmy and his wife, Dolores of Los Lunas; and Ignacio and his fiancé, Wendy of Sacramento CA; her grandchildren, Lewis (Donald), Karen (Rene), Barbie, Joylene, Daniel, Raelene, Donna, Steven, Regina, Edward, Belinda, Kimberly, James and Amanda; and six great grandchildren, Monique, Andrew, Keiana, Mac, Madison and Edward. She is also survived by her sisters, Sofie Gutierrez of Los Chavez and Ernie Chavez of Belen and her brother, Leo Chavez of Albuquerque. A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Los Chavez on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary following at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Zimmerman -- Bobby Lewis Zimmerman, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at home in the loving embrace of his family. He was happy and at peace when he left us, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Beecher and husband, Everett ¯Sonny¯ of Albuquerque; son, Robert Rory Zimmerman of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Cheri Lynn Zimmerman of Albuquerque; niece, Kathy Zimmerman of Virginia; and nephews, Eddie Zimmerman and Mark Zimmerman, both of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Zimmerman of Virginia. Bob was born in Bedford, VA and graduated from Bedford High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served with the 97th Signal Battalion in Germany until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. Returning to the States, Bob and his family settled in Northern California, and he began his career with GTE Lenkurt. In 1971, he was promoted and the family moved to Albuquerque, where GTE Lenkurt opened a new plant. Bob retired in 1986 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed retirement, pursuing various hobbies and interests that brought him pleasure. He was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants. Bob was also a lifetime member of the N.R.A. and an avid hunter. Services will be held Monday, February 3, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Academy Heights Ward, 1100 Montano NW. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Rory Zimmerman, Don Sampson, Murry Maxwell, Bobby Hopper, John Hopper, and Cheri Lynn Zimmerman. Bosworth -- Daniel Bosworth chose to leave this earthly realm on January 27, 2003. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Bosworth; his sister, Janice Bosworth Baucom; and his son, Daniel Bosworth Jr. He leaves behind his daughter, Donna Lewis and her husband, Ken; grandson, Johnathon Lewis, and wife, and companion, Carol Bosworth. Garner -- MSgt. Nathan Louis Garner, USA (Ret.), 91, a resident of Albuquerque since November 2001, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Natha Silva of Albuquerque and Gilda Lewis and husband, Robert of Richmond, VA; granddaughter, Daniele Delarivas and husband, Capt. Andrew Delarivas of Port Hueneme, CA; great-granddaughter, Sophia Elizabeth Delarivas; sister, Lyvonne Price of Seven Springs, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and his dogs, Molly, Clyde, and Peaches. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Wells Garner. MSgt. Garner was a native of North Carolina and retired from the United States Army. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March in the Phillipines. MSgt. Garner was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. Mackey -- Joseph Lee Mackey, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, January 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline Mackey; daughters, Margie Mackey, of Veguita, NM and Kathryn Martin and husband, Thomas of Belton, TX; sons, Joseph L. Mackey (Charlie) and wife, Deanna and George R. Mackey and wife, Cyndee, all of Veguita; three grandchildren, Denette Withrow and husband John, Daniel Upshaw and wife Susan, and Walter Martin; and three great-grandchildren. Joseph was born on January 12, 1918 in Parsons, Kansas and moved to Albuquerque in 1939. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and was a WWII Veteran. Joseph retired from civil service at Kirtland Air Force Base. He loved to sing gospel music. Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Andy Husted and Pastor Timothy Warren officiating.
