Apodaca -- Mr. Frederico Apodaca, 60, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 30, 2003. Mr. Apodaca is survived by one daughter, Veronica Rempkowski; two sons, Enrico Apodaca and Eugene Apodaca; one granddaughter, Michaela Rempkowski; one grandson, Michael Rempkowski; his mother, Mary Apodaca; two sisters, Frances Apodaca, Lita Baca and husband, John; three brothers, Ben Apodaca and wife, Lorraine, Charles Apodaca and wife, Rosemarie and Richard Apodaca; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Apodaca is preceded in death by his father, Fred Apodaca; and a son, Freddie Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Vietnam Era. A Visitation for Mr. Apodaca will be Sunday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. A final Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Savilla. A Committal Service will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Rico Apodaca, Gino Apodaca, Richard Apodaca, Charles Apodaca, Jon Paul Baca and Jason Baca. Harper -- Madge Palmer Harper, age 82, died Monday, January 27, 2003 in Albuquerque. Mrs. Harper was born Madge Lorene Palmer to James H. and Mildred P. Palmer on May 4, 1920 in North Belle Vernon, PA. As a child, she lived in North Belle Vernon, PA, Los Angeles, CA, and Rochester, PA. She graduated valedictorian of Rochester High School in 1938, was editor of the school paper and a member of the swimming and basketball teams. She graduated from Cornell University in 1942 where she was the women's editor of the yearbook, the president of the French Club, a member of two honorary societies, a member of the Women's Self Government Association, and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She worked as a Spanish-English executive secretary in Mexico City in 1942 and 1943 and for the Consul General of Venezuela in New York City, receiving a medal from the Venezuelan Government. She married Ashby Taylor Harper on March 25, 1944 in Pensacola, FL. In 1945 and 1946, she worked at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ and as a spanish-English interpreter for the United Nations in New York City. In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Harper moved to Quito, Ecuador where they both taught at the Colegio Americano de Quito. The Harpers later resided in Lima, Peru, St. Louis, MO where Mrs. Harper taught Spanish and Mr. Harper was Headmaster at the St. Louis Country Day School, and Guatemala City, Guatemala where her husband was the first Director of the Peace Corps. In 1964, they moved to Albuquerque where Mr. Harper accepted the position as Headmaster of the Albuquerque Academy. Madge's quiet devotion to her family, her husband, and the Albuquerque Academy will remain a light to us all. Mrs. Harper is survived by son, Frederick Taylor Harper and wife, Donna; and son, David Palmer Harper, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Margie Harper Reber and husband, John Reber of Cherry Hill, NJ; grandchildren, Cody Taylor Harper, Lyndsay Elisabeth Harper and Lance Maurer, all of Albuquerque, and Ashley Taylor Reber and Alex John Reber, both of Cherry Hill, NJ. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Ashby in 1992; son, Richard Ashby Harper in 1981; and brother, James Palmer in 1973. A Final Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Chapel of Sandia with Dr. Paul Debenport of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Hofheins -- Opal Hofheins, 86, originally of Falls City, OR and a longtime resident of New Mexico, left this earth to join her beloved husband, Edward and other loved ones in Heaven on January 28, 2003. She has left behind one son, Edward Downey Hofheins; and three daughters, Marie Merrick, Wanda Deveraux and Carol Hall; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Leona Haverland, Eva Gallimore, Alice Hofheins and Marie Hofheins. Opal was a petite, gentle and loving soul with the heart of a giant. There will never be another like her, she was unique. She lived her life for her family and she will be greatly missed by many. Cremation has taken place as was her wish and her ashes will be scattered among her husbands in a place special to them. A small private ceremony is planned for family and friends.

Kohout -- George Kohout, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at the age of 82. George was born February 6, 1920 the son of Frank and Mary Kohout Kopachek in Berwyn, Illinois. George was member of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in church events. George also enjoyed sports, traveling, bowling, and the casinos when he wasn't playing cards. George owned and operated his own newsstand for many years before retiring. George was preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank Jr. and Edward Kohout; sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Bill Senger. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Rio Rancho; father-in-law, Raymond Whipkey; sister-in-law, Pat Potapenko; and friend, Gene Gilbertson of WI; niece, Tricia Dulek and family; nephews, Joe and Ben Kurzynski. There will be a Visitation Sunday, February 2, 2003, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd. Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment will be in Hillside, Illinois. Landon -- Mary Louise Landon passed away January 30, 2003 after suffering for many years with Alzheimer's disease. Mary was born Mary Louise Walden in Waterloo, Iowa on August 30, 1920. She moved to New Mexico with her family in the mid 1920s living in Gibson, Gallup and Roswell, NM before settling in Albuquerque. She graduated from Albuquerque High and Albuquerque Business College. During her many years of working as the bookkeeper at the Albuquerque Elks Club, she became active in the Duke City Business and Professional Women's Club, holding offices at the city, state and natl. levels. She was State President of the organization in the mid 1960s. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Larzelere of Pacific Grove, CA; daughter, Mary Chao of Albuquerque; son, Michael of Corrales; grandchildren, Daniel Chao of Kourou Fr Guiana, Jennifer Chao of Albuquerque, Patrick and Aimee Landon of Newport News, VA, Christina Landon and Lawrence Landon of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Quentin Chao of Bergerac, France. She was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence; son, Jerome; and daughter-in-law, Peggy. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wing 300 of Laurel Heights/St. Francis Nursing Home for all the excellent care the past several years and Vista Care Hospice for her final weeks. Noffsinger -- Mr. Forrest Glenn Noffsinger, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959 passed away on January 29, 2003 at U.N.M.H. Glenn served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a bombardera and received the Bronze Star. Glen was a lifetime member of the 4th Fighter Group, the D.A.V. and the Lions Club. Glenn is survived by two daughters, Joy Avritt and husband, Paul of Corrales, NM, and Tammy Cleavinger of Phoenix, AZ; two granddaughters, Sonya of San Angelo, Texas and Carrie of Corrales, NM; good friends, Rose and Amanda Gonzales and the Marcelli Family. A Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Private disposition has taken place. Panagakos -- Irene Panagakos, born in Yerma, Mani, Greece on February 17, 1904, emigrated to this country in 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Panagakos in 1965. They were married in 1924. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Philoptohos Society. Irene is survived by her son, Anthony Panagakos of Albuquerque; grandson, Peter Panagakos and wife, DeDe of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Koren and husband, Ken Walston of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Brandon Panagakos of Rio Rancho; sister, Pat Frangias of Ridgecrest, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St. George Greek Orthodox Church. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Sexton -- Col. Robert Curtis Sexton, Retired USAF, age 89, passed away January 25, 2003, at the Montebello Health Care Center in Albuquerque, where he had been a resident since 1997. He was born October 6, 1913 to Dr. Troy Curtis and Lena Broaddus Sexton in Las Cruces, NM. He attended New Mexico Military Institute and New Mexico State University, graduating in Electrical Engineering. He married Mary Carolyn Moesta December 28, 1937. He entered the Army Air Corps and completed flight school, beginning a 30 year career in the Air Force. He was a pilot during WWII and retired in Albuquerque in 1963. He worked for the City of Albuquerque in the Dept. of Environmental Health. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Sexton; daughters, Carol Bradley (Mitchell) of Heathsville, VA and Susan McNeil (Douglas) of Salt Lake City, UT; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Zimmerman -- Bobby Lewis Zimmerman, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at home in the loving embrace of his family. He was happy and at peace when he left us, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Beecher and husband, Everett �Sonny� of Albuquerque; son, Robert Rory Zimmerman of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Cheri Lynn Zimmerman of Albuquerque; niece, Kathy Zimmerman of Virginia; and nephews, Eddie Zimmerman and Mark Zimmerman, both of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Zimmerman of Virginia. Bob was born in Bedford, VA and graduated from Bedford High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served with the 97th Signal Battalion in Germany until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. Returning to the States, Bob and his family settled in Northern California, and he began his career with GTE Lenkurt. In 1971, he was promoted and the family moved to Albuquerque, where GTE Lenkurt opened a new plant. Bob retired in 1986 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed retirement, pursuing various hobbies and interests that brought him pleasure. He was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants. Bob was also a lifetime member of the N.R.A. and an avid hunter. Services will be held Monday, February 3, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Academy Heights Ward, 1100 Montano NW. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Rory Zimmerman, Don Sampson, Murry Maxwell, Bobby Hopper, John Hopper, and Cheri Lynn Zimmerman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Everett �Sonny� Beecher, Terry Wilkinson and Gerald Robertson.
