RUTHERFORD -- Harry Otho Rutherford, 87, passed away at home Saturday, June 12, 2004 in El Paso, Texas. He was born on August 17, 1916 in Piedmont, Alabama. His mother was Pelham Pearl Dobson Rutherford and his father was Lee Fulton Rutherford. He served as pilot in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. His careers included 20 years with the Seaboard and Southern Pacific Railroads and 20 years with the Federal Aviation Agency In El Paso and Albuquerque. He resided in Birmingham, AL, El Paso, TX , and Albuquerque,NM. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Dare Livingston Rutherford; and his brother, Huey D. Rutherford. He is survived by his daughter, Jolene Rutherford of Albuquerque; son, Lee C. Rutherford and wife, Priscilla of El Paso, TX; grandson, David M. Theis; and granddaughter, Chrysanthie Chrissos, both of Albuquerque. He loved people, pets, planes, trains, automobiles and motorcycles. A Private Memorial Service will be held sometime in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. he was a good man. We are all going to miss him very much.

SEWELL -- Brice H. Sewell, age 73, of Albuquerque passed away on June 14, 2004. He is survived by two step-children, Rita E. Anderson of Anoka, MN and David B. Starr of Rio Rancho. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

BUFFINGTON -- Senaida "Sadie" Gonzales-Buffington, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004. She was born June 11, 1922 in San Marcial, NM. Mrs. Buffington was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Buffington. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Chavez and husband, David; sisters, Ruth Gonzales and Martha Jaramillo and husband, Johnnie; brothers, Savaldor Gonzales and wife, Bertha of Oakley, CA, Jose Gonzales and wife, Marcy of San Jose, CA and Juan Gonzales and wife, Claudia of Los Lunas; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, with Deacon Bob Lewis officiating. Pallbearers will be James Jaramillo, Jose Gonzales, Bennie Gonzales and Juan Gonzales. GOWER -- Vivian F. Gower, 84, a former resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 14, 2004. She is survived by her sons, Greg Scott Gower and wife, Jodi of Flower Mound, TX, Michael Jay Gower and wife, Charlotte of Fort Worth, TX and G. Mark Gower and wife, Connie of Midland, TX; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Jo Davalos of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gower was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Gower; sister, Loraine McGee; and brothers, Lloyd Daniel and Jack Daniel. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd. NE, with Bill Lewis officiating. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Gower, Alan Gower, Scott Gower, Michael Berry, Greg Gower and Mike Gower. MARTINEZ -- Dolores C. Martinez, 86, a resident of Valencia, was called to be our personal guardian angel at the right hand of our Father to join her family in the kingdom of heaven on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. Mom/Grandma spent a good part of her life caring for several special people, Grandma Smith and Sophie Armijo, who have since passed on and James and Clara Peoples. Along with being very involved in the foster grandparent program. One of her last jobs was grandma for Mrs. Love's class at Ann Parish Elementary School in Los Lunas. Dolores was a parishioner of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church where on any given Sunday before her illness you would always see her in the same pew kneeling praying her rosary before mass. After a long battle with dementia (a form of Alzheimer's) our mother spent the last five years at Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation Center where the staff took a lot of pride and care in her well being and respecting the fact that she was still the boss. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nemesio, Sr.; sons, Ernesto, Eloy, Eusebio; and a daughter, Eustilla; her parents, Julian and Maria Castillo; in-laws, Eusebio and Margarita Martinez; great-grandson, Krister Vinzent Martinez; great -great granddaughter, Alexius Thalia Baca; and her sister Elvira Aragon. She is survived by her wonderful sons and daughters-in-law, Nemesio (Marylou) Martinez Jr., Lorenzo (Frances) Martinez and Steven Martinez, all of Valencia. Her one and only daughter who was the pride and joy of her mother, Maryann Betencourt of St. Louis, MO. Dolores leaves behind her 19 grandchildren Joe (Tami) Martinez, Margaret (Jessey) Baca, Valerie (Thomas) Lujan, Velma (Bob) Johnston, Ernest (Lyola) Martinez, Yvette Perez and her partner, Daniel Sedillo, Leslie (Andrew) Rodriquez, Jolene Martinez, Esther and David Sanchez, Annette Martinez and her partner , Felix Lucero, Connie (Randy) Tarin, Joaquin (Alma) Luna Jr., Dianna Luna, Edwin (Jennifer) Luna, Carlos Luna, Robin Martinez, Estevan (Vicki) Martinez, Jason (Tina) Martinez and Randy (Debbie) Martinez. Dolores leaves behind 32 great- grandchildren; four great- great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Daniel (Deluvina) Castillo of Albuquerque, Elias (Viola) Castillo of Peralta, Sosie "Jose" Chavez of Albuquerque, her sister-in-law, Jesusita Poland of Los Lunas and Veronica Martinez of Belen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. All services will be held at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Valencia, beginning a viewing on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. to be followed with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Martinez, Jessey Baca, Jason Martinez, James Cordova, Joshua Martinez, Edwin Luna, Steve Martinez Jr., Ernest Martinez and Joaquin Luna Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren, godchildren, nieces and nephews and James and Clara Peoples.
