ARBALLO -- GILBERT ARVIZO Age 90, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, August 6, 2011. He passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 20, 1920 to Agapito and Josepha Arvizo, in Tempe, AZ. "Gil" as his army buddies called him, was a brave WWII Veteran who served in the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion in Central Europe. Some of his decorations and citations were, the Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with three Bronze Service Stars; Combat Infantry Badge First Award, just to name a few. Gilbert accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior at a young age of 22 and went on to become a Deacon and Minister. His first Pastorship of the Apostolic Church was in Santa Maria, CA, then Las Cruces, NM; Silver City, NM and Albuquerque, NM. In his later years he was a Pastor of three small Churches in Tecolotito, NM; Las Vegas, NM and Lovington, NM, he also served as an Elder and Bishop. Gilbert was a man of prayer; he loved the word of God, a man of great faith and lived to please the Lord. He was well loved by family, friends and brethren. He had a jolly disposition and was very optimistic because of his great trust in the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Rosa Cordova-Arballo, the mother of his children; two brothers Hector and David and granddaughter Rosalinda Hernandez. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Consuelo of 19 years; sons, Richard Medina and wife Martha of Santa Maria, CA, Joe Arballo and wife Becky of San Diego, CA, David Arballo and wife Enedina of Las Cruces, NM; one daughter Rose Saenz and husband Luis of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Mary of San Diego, CA and Oliva of Oxnard, CA; brothers Alex of San Diego, CA and Mario of Oxnard, CA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Visitation and will take place Thursday, August 11, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at South Valley Apostolic Church, 1242 Atrisco Dr. SW. with a Memorial Service to follow. Pastor Jimmy Arellano will officiate a Funeral Service Friday, August 12, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. also at the South Valley Apostolic Church Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. JONES -- NELLIE CATHERINE A resident of New Mexico since 1958, passed away on August 6, 2011. She was 94. She and her husband Larry moved from Pennsylvania to Los Alamos in 1958. In 1980 they retired in Albuquerque. She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Urbala. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry of 60 years and two sisters, Bernice Smith and Gladys Smith of PA. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Jones) Dollahon and her husband Norman of Norristown, PA. Also surviving are two grandsons, Scott Dollahon and his wife Jessica and Gary Dollahon, all of PA; two great-granddaughters, Aidan and Emma Dollahon; a brother-in-law Steadman Smith of PA and Ms. Darla Dollahon of Albuquerque. Several nieces and nephews, Barbara Hayes, Beverly Holquist, Donald Smith of PA and Carl Smith of New York; along with many close friends and neighbors. Nellie was a member of the Rio Grande Jazz Society and faithfully attended their monthly concerts. She was also known for her love of animals. She would walk around her neighborhood park in the mornings to greet her many neighbors and pets. She kept dog treats in her pantry for those that came to visit. For the last several years, Nellie was assisted in her home by Ms. Cathy Tierney from Home Instead Senior Care. Cathy was a life-line between Nellie and her daughter in PA. The family wants to thank Cathy for her dedication and excellent care. We also want to thank her many friends and neighbors who visited with her, brought her meals and helped her to attend activities in Albuquerque. MORALES -- BERTHA Age 101, went to be with our Lord Monday, August 8, 2011. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Concho Morales, Emilio Morales Jr., and Israel Morales Sr.; niece Ylia Garcia and her husband John and nephew Henry Morales and his wife Hortencia. Bertha is survived by her brother, Rodolfo Morales; great-nieces and nephews, Dolores Chavez and husband Pat, Larry Garcia, John A. Garcia, and numerous other family and friends. Bertha was known and loved as "Nani" and was more then just an Aunt, Everyone considered her to be more of a "Grandmother" though she never married or had children because she helped her brother Emilio raise his children Ylia and Henry after her sister-in-law passed away. She was a faithful member of the First Spanish Fruit Ave. Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she was involved with the "Golden Circle". Bertha enjoyed having her candies, sweets and ice cream, and loved eating pork ribs. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will take place at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angels Thursday night, August 11, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by an Evening Service with Pastor Andrew Viera officiating. The Funeral Service will take place at First Spanish Fruit Ave. Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Ave NW, Friday, August 12, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.; Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. GIANNINI -- SAMMIE J. Age 74, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011. She was born on September 25, 1936. Sammie was the owner and operator of Builders News and Plan Room. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gino Giannini Sr.; father, Archie Stepp, mother, Margaret E. (Barton) Stepp. Sammie is survived by her two sons, Gino J. Giannini of Edgewood, NM, Stephen J. "Joey" Giannini of Albuquerque, NM; two granddaughters, Stephanie, Desiray; sister, Jacque and husband, Lee Sullivan; three brothers, Archie and wife, Querida Stepp, Tommy Stepp, Larry and wife, Marion Stepp; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. EDMONSON -- CAMERON Age 25, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2011. He is survived by his parents, Arleen and Mike Smith of San Antonio, TX, Larry and Barbara Edmonson of Rio Rancho, NM; sisters, Crystal and Chantelle Edmonson, Chy-Anne Smith and; niece, Alycia Hernandez all of San Antonio, TX and sister Jacque Rodriguez of Los Lunas, NM; nephews, Ethan and Jacob Edmonson of Harrison, AR; step-sister, Kimberly Murphy of Albuquerque, NM; grandmother, Dorothy "Granny" Edmonson of Milan, NM; his loving companion and best friend, Ashlie Scott of Albuquerque, NM; his dog, Dez; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. JOHNSON -- JAMES L. "JIMMY" Age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Johnson. TUCKER -- MILDRED IRENE HOLLINGSWORTH Born April 19, 1915 Died July 27, 2011 96 years of age, Mildred, the daughter of Sadie and Ernest Hollingsworth, was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Basil Simms Tucker. She is survived by her daughter, Marji Tucker and son Ernest (Larry) Tucker together with his wife Sherrie; grandchildren David May (and wife Cheryl), Amber Valliant (and husband George), Melissa, Carlton, Shannon Hernandez (and husband Chris) and Tylor; great-grandchildren, JT, Frank, Alicia, Ashley, Donovan, Caitlyn, Aedyn, Rhiannan, Rachael, Amanda, Aaron and Matthew; and great-great-grandchildren Alexa, Drake and Alenah. Mildred was a self taught pianist and organist. She developed an amazing cake decorating talent, making many beautiful wedding cakes as well an unique birthday cakes. She crocheted, knitted, tatted, was an excellent seamstress and made ceramics. Her daughter and granddaughters benefited from these talents. We wish to thank the staff of Vista Care Hospice at Lovelace Hospital Downtown for their loving care for both Mildred and the family and visitors over the time that she was in their care.
