Otero -- Lionor S. Otero, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Sara Baca, Jessie Lucero and husband, Able, all of Albuquerque and Lou Manley of Oklahoma City, OK; sons, Juan Pablo Otero and wife, Mabel of Mountainair, NM and Mike Otero and wife, Dora of LaMesa, NM; daughter-in-law, Mella Anderson and husband, Andy of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, NM and she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a friend to all and"LOVED EVERYBODY." Rosary will be recited Sunday, January 3, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Lourdes Brito reciting, with Mike Silva accompanying. Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 4, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, NM, with Father Domingo, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Schlegel, Deborah Baca, Charlie Otero, Michael Otero, Yolanda Otero-Inman and Miles Manley. Payne -- Reid H. Payne, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Wednesday, December 30, 1998. He is survived by his sons, Donald Payne and R.J. Payne and wife, Beverly; daughter, Leston Bass and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Payne was a member of Rio Grande Baptist Church. Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ernest Key officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Poole -- Helen M. Poole, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. She is survived by her husband, William J. (Bill) of the family home; son, Dan Poole and wife, Debra of Albuquerque; daughters, Marie E. Wood of Albuquerque, Michele Simpson and husband, Bill of Rockaway Beach, MO and Laura Poole-Taylor and husband, Greg of Rio Rancho; grandsons, Vincent Wood, Michael Wood and wife, Kaylene, Don Simpson and wife, Jessica and Chris Poole; granddaughters, Gemma Wood, Yvette McClelland and husband, Paul and Beth LaDouceur and husband, Brett; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John F. Poole; six nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. Helen retired after many years with APS. Vinson -- Neal L. Vinson, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hollander Vinson of Albuquerque; sons, Carl W. Theisen and wife, Bernadette of Los Gatos, CA and Neal W. Vinson and wife, Nancy of Danville, CA; grandchildren, Glenn Vinson and wife, Eloisa of Mason, OH, Curt Theisen of San Francisco, CA; Kenneth Vinson of Aptos, CA, Kelly Theisen of Los Gatos, CA, Maureen Paolucci of Questa, CO, David Vinson of Dublin, CA and Christine Vinson of Sacramento, CA; and three great-grandchildren. Neal was born in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in Bisbee, AZ. He earned his Engineering degree from Carnegie-Mellon University. Prior to WWII, he worked with his father at L.W. Vinson & Son in Bisbee. During that time, he was elected to the Arizona State Legislature. He retired as a Major from the US Army after serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had a 26 year career at Sandia National Labs. Neal held several patents and published a number of professional papers. He also served as a state representative in New Mexico in 1977. He continued his lifelong pursuit of education attending the University of California, University of New Mexico and Oxford University. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine E. Vinson; and son, Jon L. Vinson. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Wilson -- Jean Wilson, 8-1-24, longtime resident of Cedar Crest, died Sunday after privately bottling a long illness. Reaching out to other through volunteer work in many areas is how she will especially be remembered. Anderson -- Virginia Irene Anderson, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 28, 1998. She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Sandra D. Anderson; sister, Leona Allan; and brother, Randall S. Rubottom. Her life's goal and accomplishments were to bring happiness and love to all her family and friends. At Mr. Anderson's request there will be no memorial services, but a gathering of relatives, friends and Eastern Star brothers and sisters would be greatly appreciated at the family residence on January 3, 1998, 3:00 p.m., 298-4301. Her burial site will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be interred with her husband of 43 years, Dixon L. Anderson. Her legacy of love will forever be in our hearts. Daby -- Crucita G. Daby Crucita loved everyone; everyone loved Crucita. Her warm and friendly personality endeared her to all that knew her. She died on December 29, 1998. She was born Crucita Garcia, in Dona Ana, New Mexico, and graduated from Las Cruces High School. After high school she worked for the state government in the old capital building in Santa Fe. In 1941, she went to work in Washington, DC as a clerk stenographer and interpreter. From there she moved to San Francisco, where she later met and married Robert Daby during World War II. They had three girls, Roberta, Juanita and Laura. The family lived in Washington State and Florida before moving to Albuquerque in 1959. Crucita worked for the federal government at Kirtland and Sandia Bases where she retired after 23 years. She was in the Blue Bells Garden Club, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. Crucita and Bob were active in the Gold Wing Roadrunners Association and the Retreads Motorcycle clubs. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert L. Daby; their three daughters; and grandchildren, Sabrina Busico, Victor, David (deceased), and Michael Chavez, Nicholas and Natasha Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Chavez and Cacia Chavez. Also surviving are her brother, Evans Garcia; and sister, Adela Bowen. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph Hospital and Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care and concern for Crucita and her family. Memorial services will take place on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Desert Springs Church, 7509 Paseo del Norte (NW corner of Wyoming and Paseo). Hume -- William Hume II, of Socorro, died Monday in Albuquerque after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 7, 1910, in Oxford, Mississippi. He moved to Albuquerque in 1935 to join the faculty of the University of New Mexico. He moved to Socorro in 1949, where he served on the faculty of New Mexico Tech as professor of physics, dean of the college and assistant to the president until his retirement in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife Anafred Stephenson Hume, who died in 1969, and grandson Robert Branham Hume, the son of Robert B. and Kathleen Hume. He is survived by his sister Mary Hume Kelton, daughter Ann Hume Taulbee and her children Lisa Kay Taulbee, Carol Lynn Taulbee and husband Bart Stucky and Karen Taulbee Flores and husband Mikel; son William C. Hume and wife Elizabeth G., and their children William A. Hume and Elizabeth A. Hume; son Robert B. Hume and wife Kathleen, their son Phillip Bainard Hume; daughter Jane Hume Anderson and her children William Theodore Anderson and Amy Kay Anderson; daughter Mary Hume Melia and sons John M. Melia and Matthew M. Melia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert B. Stephenson and wife Mary Ann, and their children William Craig Stephenson and Ann Stephenson Cortes and husband Rodolfo and their daughter Daisy. Private memorial services are being planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, New Mexico Tech, or the charity of your choice.

Martin -- After a recent stroke, William Lewis"Bill" Martin, 73, passed away December 26, 1998. He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Barbara; and their four children, William Lewis, Jr. of Washington, D.C., George Ross of Balikpapan, Indonesia, Amy Hollister of Albuquerque and Samuel Andrew of Sunnyvale, CA. As a native Virginian, Bill entered the Army Air Force during World War II and flew B-17 combat missions with the 364th Bombardment Squadron, 305th Bombardment Group. Upon returning from the war, he completed his undergraduate degree at Marshall University of California at Los Angeles. Bill and Barbara located to Albuquerque shortly thereafter where he began his distinguished career in various roles at Sandia National Laboratories as an Operations Manager. After nearly 40 years of services, he retired in February of 1991. During his retirement, Bill participated in the 305th Bombardment Group Association and their annual reunions, hosting the national event in Albuquerque in 1996. He and Barbara also enjoyed traveling the world. In addition to taking a cruise around the world, they visited international destinations that included Siberia, Europe, China, and South America. Services were held on December 31st at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe. The honorary pallbearers were Lewis Martin, George Martin, Sam Martin, Roscoe Williams, Richard Donovan and Charles Kruger. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Montoya -- Mr. Ernest (El Canario) A. Montoya, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 30, 1998. Mr. Montoya was the beloved husband of 62 years to Mrs. Martha Montoya. He is also survived by one son, Deacon Manuel Montoya and wife, Eileen; one daughter, Frances Perea; four grandchildren, Ernie, Louie, Roberta and Yvonne; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Jaramillo and husband, Sam; three brothers, Louie Montoya and wife, Alice, Bennie Montoya, Hipolito Montoya, Jr. and wife, Emily; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Montoya was a member of the Catholic Church and loved to hunt. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, 6:00 p.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW with visitation at the church after 5:30 p.m. Deacon Manuel and his wife, Eileen, will recited the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Therese Church with final viewing at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Father Stoeber, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Moore, Ernie Perea, Porfirio Armijo, Bernard Sisneros, Carlos Armijo and Louie Ray Montoya.
