Crucita G. Daby Crucita loved everyone; everyone loved Crucita. Her warm and friendly personality endeared her to all that knew her. She died on December 29, 1998. She was born Crucita Garcia, in Dona Ana, New Mexico, and graduated from Las Cruces High School. After high school she worked for the state government in the old capital building in Santa Fe. In 1941, she went to work in Washington, DC as a clerk stenographer and interpreter. From there she moved to San Francisco, where she later met and married Robert Daby during World War II. They had three girls, Roberta, Juanita and Laura. The family lived in Washington State and Florida before moving to Albuquerque in 1959. Crucita worked for the federal government at Kirtland and Sandia Bases where she retired after 23 years. She was in the Blue Bells Garden Club, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. Crucita and Bob were active in the Gold Wing Roadrunners Association and the Retreads Motorcycle clubs. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert L. Daby; their three daughters; and grandchildren, Sabrina Busico, Victor, David (deceased), and Michael Chavez, Nicholas and Natasha Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Chavez and Cacia Chavez. Also surviving are her brother, Evans Garcia; and sister, Adela Bowen. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph Hospital and Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care and concern for Crucita and her family. Memorial services will take place on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Desert Springs Church, 7509 Paseo del Norte (NW corner of Wyoming and Paseo). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 5810 Lomas NE 87110 or to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 6600 Zuni SE 87108.
